Or maybe....she just wants to fucking sing HER OWN song without a bunch of idiots who can't sing ruining the moment. This is exactly why Bob Dylan used to constantly change his songs....he got tired of competing with the fools in the crowd who think they can sing and aren't a part of the song. If the artist wanted an out-of-tune and out-of-time chorus on the song....THEY WOULD HAVE PUT ONE THERE. The moment when she tells the crowd to sing....THAT is when the crowd should sing. NOT when she is trying to sing HER SONG the way she recorded it and meant it to be. STFU, fools. AND PUT YOUR GODDAMN PHONES DOWN AND ACTUALLY EXPERIENCE LIFE AS IT HAPPENS....JUST FOR ONCE.

An example of this would be from the movie A Star is Born. Everyone thought Lady Gaga and Bradley were in love and dating. They eventually had to go public as people were going nuts over it and tell everyone it was part of the plan. It help sell the movie and the music.

It's true that she cried before but perhaps it was because of the meaning in the song and the memories it gave her. • @_NickRyan_

It’s not about “being able to hit the high note”. Adele doesn’t sing the chorus in the higher key because she always prefers the low key. From 2011 until now there have only been maybe about 10 or less times that she’s actually sang the chorus in the higher key (Carpool Karaoke, One Night Only, 2016 tour). Because it’s not actually that difficult by Adele’s standards but stylistically chooses not to.
Around the time 21 came out I believe Adele or the co-writer/producer mentioned that they wanted to re-record the original song with a lower key and add strings but Adele never re-records the demos of her lead vocals.

Adele - Someone Like You (Lyrics)
I heard that you're settled down
That you found a girl and you're married now
I heard that your dreams came true
Guess she gave you things, I didn't give to you
Old friend, why are you so shy?
Ain't like you to hold back or hide from the light
I hate to turn up out of the blue, uninvited
    But I couldn't stay away, I couldn't fight it
I had hoped you'd see my face
And that you'd be reminded that for me, it isn't over
Never mind, I'll find someone like you
I wish nothing but the best for you, too
    "Don't forget me, " I beg
    I remember you said
"Sometimes it lasts in love, but sometimes it hurts instead"
"Sometimes it lasts in love, but sometimes it hurts instead"
You know how the time flies
Only yesterday was the time of our lives
We were born and raised in a summer haze
Bound by the surprise of our glory days
I hate to turn up out of the blue, uninvited
    But I couldn't stay away, I couldn't fight it
I had hoped you'd see my face
And that you'd be reminded that for me, it isn't over
Never mind, I'll find someone like you
I wish nothing but the best for you, too
    "Don't forget me, " I begged
    I remember you said
"Sometimes it lasts in love, but sometimes it hurts instead"
Nothing compares, no worries or cares
Regrets and mistakes, they're memories made
Who would have known how bittersweet this would taste?
Never mind, I'll find someone like you
I wish nothing but the best for you
    "Don't forget me, " I beg
    I remember you said
"Sometimes it lasts in love, but sometimes it hurts instead"
Never mind, I'll find someone like you
I wish nothing but the best for you, too
