Oh wow Andy! Awesome interview.what an endorsement of alcohol free life.i live in Australia now but before moving here I spent a good almost decade in London listening to Chris Evans on the radio, his shows. Successful guy; but big reputation as a party guy! I am just so so happy to hear he’s on team alcohol free.👏👏🎉
Leaving 40% on the table was a game changer for me. I used alcohol for the encouragement I was never given. Now I know what the new limits are💪. Thank you.
Maybe I'm weird, but I just stopped drinking. Attended weddings and drank mineral water. Nobody noticed. Nobody cared. Attended big birthdays. Drank mineral water. Nobody noticed. Nobody cared. Went on dates. The girls didn't comment much and cared less. The key thing to remember is that nobody gives two f??ks about what you drink, and if they do, ask them is that all they can contribute. The only adjustment I had to make was that I was so used to the volume of liquid in pints that I would finish a mineral water in two goes. Now I sip. Simple.
07:10 touching on a big thing about abstinence that I didn't really expect: how, once you've quit and reprogrammed your brain to see alcohol for what it really is, not only are you healthier and happier in basically every way, but you also get a BIG satisfying hit of joy every time you remember that you are alcohol free, or every time you decline a drink. Like, a much better 'high' than the one that a drinker feels from accepting the drink and taking a sip. It's a mixture of pride and relief. It's a bit uncomfortable to admit, because it feels very close to superiority, and we don't wanna be smug or holier than thou! But being completely frank, I do feel like I have a super power which the rest of the room lacks when I decline a drink, and that feeling more than makes up for the social friction that can arise when others are disappointed that you're not a fellow ethanol swallower.
I love being a “middle lane” drinker. Don’t touch it through the week and have 3-4 pints Friday/sat/Sunday nights with a glass of wine and some nice food. I work for my weekends and that first beer at 6pm on Friday night is absolute bliss. Why would I take this out of my life? These guys ain’t selling this “life” to me
If your happy in the middle lane with drink and life that's fine. Once you've experienced no booze for a 6m period you wouldn't settle for average middle lane. I was like you. Enjoyed the booze but enjoy getting out of that crap now. I'm 62 and feel like 40. And that's not drinking, like you only a few days a time. If your younger you generally can handle it but get ahead of the game and stop
Going on holiday, that first day sat around the pool with an ice cold beer. At the end of the working week cracking open a bottle on a Friday evening. Sat in a beer garden with friends on a summer afternoon sipping cocktails. Alcohol has a time and place for me. I understand the advantages of giving it up or taking a break but also the disadvantages.
Just listened to this. The guy at the end describes having a glass of wine or champagne at a wedding. Then says, "usually" ok to drive !! And has a "healthy attitude" to alcohol. That's how big the problem here is. Alcohol levels and driving should be 0. I would never have thought that until I went alcohol free myself. This message will take at least a decade to become mainstream because of the money involved in the industry and Tax for the Government.
Here in Czech Republic the limit for driving ( or cycling ) is 0.0 And the cops take it super seriously. So it's really only the hardcore idiots who would risk drink driving. And there are a lot of random alcohol control stops. I get stopped roughly once a quarter. And they make everyone blow into the tester.
Your in the minority is you do that. Most have more. Well done to you. Do you think your friends would look at you differently if at wedding you had a soft drink or a coffee??? If they do are they really friends. Just a thought not criticism

Superb insights and you can see the results of not drinking. Keep up the great work.
Thanks UA-cam for putting an ad for Rockshore beer in the middle of this...

Just to get my motivation back is way worth it
I’m 8 months AF now and feel like a different bloke.

Radio shows giving health advice 🤔
Evans sounds like he has cognitive impairment. After not hearing him for years it sounds like the alcohol has already done it's damage
What a load of nonsense, a nice glass or two of wine with a nice meal is one of the pleasures of life.
Well it’s not for everyone if you dig deep into what they means it’s better I can’t have 1-2 I want keep drinking it to chase the buzz
