The slow movement of the Flute Concerto
I don't listen to any of this kind of music at all, or any classical or orchestral or non-commercial music but hearing this guy talk about it is really pleasing and stimulating and good aye!
thank you!
A very sincere fellow. Very interesting to hear him offering his thoughts about music and how he challenged himself to keep moving in different musical directions.
The Bemidji (MN) Symphony Orchestra did his flute concerto, also with Carol Wincenc (as did the Houston Symphony) ca. 2013. We also did it a few years later, with another fine flutist. I am SO glad I ran across this! Mention was made about the 2-year-old who was tortured and murdered by the two 10--year-olds, that influenced the 2nd movement. This guy is amazing in what he can convey with instruments. Rest in Peace, Mr. Rouse (passed away in 2019 -- too young). Not sure why there's a line in the last several words of my comment...
