Excellent, what a job u have done there. U hand selected the best. P-pump 12v, nv4500, np205 and Dana axles. My self also a Cummins fan. 4 trucks now all of them 6 speed and got 2 nv5600 sitting in my shop for future projects. Please install air cleaner, I would hate to have something go in to that beautiful engine. Thanks for sharing with us.
Gary Shetley I have the hose sticker number on my toolbox. It's been a few years when I bought it. I'm almost certain it's from that lower hose. I'll try to find a number on the hose itself and reply again.
Ezekiel Wilson This is a P pump motor not a VE rotary pump. I kept the original lift pump. Although years ago I built a Scout with a 4bt VE pump and used a Carter electric fuel pump.
I want to swap my Chevy Blazer 2004 st what would I need besides the motor.im kind of lost how would wiring it up go for the ecm and what would the transfercase need like to be fitted my S10 is 4 wheel drive
really awesome dude thats a dream truck, im planning on doing a 77 crewcab chevy in the future might have quite a few questions for you if you mind haha
Im currently doing a 12V swap in my Jeep Wrangler Tj and i was wondering if you did the electric pump to the VE pump? Ive Heard it doesn't make a difference if you do or not just wondering if you went that route?
No. Not at all. I cut off the frame brace where the Harmonic Balancer usually sits. Then I welded C-channel a few inches forward for a new brace. This allows moving the engine forward. I also made my own engine mounts so I could position the engine where I needed. Oh and no Body lift on this truck.👍🏽
Awesome swap brother. I have been researching this for a while. I have a 79 K5 Blazer that I want to put a 6BT in. Just checking out other's builds to see what I am in for. Stock motor mounts or FAB?
Hunter Dexter I'm using stock Dodge alternator for this engine. I used an older style Dodge external regulator mounted to the firewall. Look on the internet how to wire the ext. Regulator.
I did a 5.9 12 v swap in a 95 k3500 with nv 4500. After about 10,000 miles my clutch begins to slip. Replace twice. What part number, type of clutch and clutch size do you use for the trans?
I used a South Bend clutch single disk. It was the 13inch upgrade with the original flywheel, resurfaced. Double check the with South Bend about the diameter I might be wrong cuz it's been a while. I have'nt had a problem yet.
I have a manual 5speed so no Autotrans shifting computer ecm is needed. I have no ecm. Just battery to stater and the alternator is wired self exciting; no ecm needed. My fuel solenoid is manual shutoff. You can wire it to Key on/off. If you have a manual trans you don't need an ecm. Very bare bones12 volt setup. You might be able to modify the autotrans to work without the ecm. Check 4bt.com for swap info. Ask on the Cummins forums.
Yeehaaw! Love the truck! I notice you don't have a fan shroud, how's your temp doing when towing or in hot days? I've done this swap before but always had heat issues when towing. Did you use stock fan blades?
hammeredscout Do you run it constantly on or did you install a thermal activated switch? I may try to go electric next time but I always found electric not able to keep it cool enough.
michael perez It' a Home Depot rent by the hour truck bed. I bought it used for $800 bucks. I sold it last year for the same price. Really good quality bed.
Forever Sole The engine is a Cummins 6BT. It is 5.9 liter inline Six cylinder. It is the best engine known to mankind. This engine made America Great Again. This engine can rock a baby to sleep.

Thank you.👍
The mud grapplers look awesome on that
Thanks👍🏾
Awesome build ! Wish I had the knowledge for all this
Love the truck. Wouldn't mind some of that clean looking Z from the shop either.
I'm building a 89 square body Chevy that's why I'm asking so many questions. Thanks for helping me
I don't have a tach but at 70mph it just purs..I would say 1500 to 1800 rpm. I'm definetly not over reving it.
Also checkout 4BT.com. It's a forum thats all about Diesels
not just the 4bt.
Also Google "Gear calculator" lots of charts out there for different ratios.
Nice build buddy! Getting ready to do the same thing. Going to be an awesome project.
great info man badass build ill be walking down this road myself tracking these parts takes time for sure lol
Thanks for the upload. Awesome build
+MarioAllDrunkAboutIt Thanks
Very nice!! Im really thinking about swapping my sb 350 with a cummins on my 81 k20.
I tried that gates hose but it was a 11/4” hose was the number 22418 thanks Gary
Gary Shetley I have the hose sticker number on my toolbox. It's been a few years when I bought it. I'm almost certain it's from that lower hose. I'll try to find a number on the hose itself and reply again.
Okay the first number was incorrect. The lower hose I used is Gates 21812. I hope this helps.
Nice truck man. I want to do a 12v swap into my 86 C30 eventually. But I plan on leaving it a dually and 2 wheel peel.
Ezekiel Wilson This is a P pump motor not a VE rotary pump. I kept the original lift pump. Although years ago I built a Scout with a 4bt VE pump and used a Carter electric fuel pump.

hey man, you ever get a build thread up on pirate?
and what grill is that?
nice truck man I'm trying to do the same setup I bought the differences from you Dana 70 Dana 60
Hey bro what's up! I remember you picked up the diffs in that clean Chevy Crewcab. Good luck on your swap. Thanks, Rick.
So nice....daaammmm✌
I'm putting a 12v in my low 02 reg cab shorty Silverado. I can't wait to start.

really awesome dude
thats a dream truck, im planning on doing a 77 crewcab chevy in the future might have quite a few questions for you if you mind haha
So bad ass I want one
Im currently doing a 12V swap in my Jeep Wrangler Tj and i was wondering if you did the electric pump to the VE pump? Ive Heard it doesn't make a difference if you do or not just wondering if you went that route?
Hah i saw you on the squarebody page on fb
hey man sweet build! currently building my 79 crew cab dually 4x4. what's the part number and where did you get the lower radiator hose?
I am about to do the same build. You got any videos or anything to help with the build?
Do you have any pictured of how you did the AC high mount? Really don't wanna pay for a bracket I don't wanna spend 600 dollars
Did you have to beat the front of the transmission tunnel up for the trans adapter to fit?
No. Not at all.
I cut off the frame brace where the Harmonic Balancer usually sits. Then I welded C-channel a few inches forward for a new brace. This allows moving the engine forward. I also made my own engine mounts so I could position the engine where I needed. Oh and no Body lift on this truck.👍🏽
would be nice if there were more room for a big charge air cooler
The stock 1998 Stock intercooler is huge in my opinion. And it's in there between the A/C condenser and Radiator.
Awesome swap brother. I have been researching this for a while. I have a 79 K5 Blazer that I want to put a 6BT in. Just checking out other's builds to see what I am in for. Stock motor mounts or FAB?
How do you connect the ecm to the motor once your done with the install
What alternator are you using and how did it wire up ? Aren’t dodges lighting system ran through the alternator or something?
Hunter Dexter I'm using stock Dodge alternator for this engine. I used an older style Dodge external regulator mounted to the firewall. Look on the internet how to wire the ext. Regulator.
hammeredscout what slave cylinder are you using? The stock one for the truck or the one for a dodge?

what did you need to do the swap all tighter im quite confused on the idea of wiring the vehicle ecm to the motor is
I have a manual 5speed so no Autotrans shifting computer ecm is needed. I have no ecm. Just battery to stater and the alternator is wired self exciting; no ecm needed. My fuel solenoid is manual shutoff. You can wire it to Key on/off.

@@hammeredscout thank you I'm getting in my S10 Blazer I love it to death but I want to switch her over in the future and see
Great truck I did one and I am having trouble finding that lower hose would you give me that number thanks very much
Gary Shetley Brand manufacture 22418 is the number for the lower hose. Double check it will fit.
Also what rpm's are u running at 70 mph and would 3'73 work with 35inch tires work
Try this website for calculating gears required for certain tire sizes. www.grimmjeeper.com/gears.html
Yeehaaw! Love the truck! I notice you don't have a fan shroud, how's your temp doing when towing or in hot days? I've done this swap before but always had heat issues when towing. Did you use stock fan blades?
Diesel Hogs I I installed an Electrical Fan (Ford Taurus) soon after this video. It works great.
hammeredscout
Do you run it constantly on or did you install a thermal activated switch? I may try to go electric next time but I always found electric not able to keep it cool enough.
Diesel Hogs I have it on switch and never overheats.
What bed is that? Thats the exact type of bed i want for mine.
michael perez It' a Home Depot rent by the hour truck bed. I bought it used for $800 bucks. I sold it last year for the same price. Really good quality bed.
hammeredscout awesome thanks!
What gears do u have in the front and rear axle
4:10s. 5speed trans and 40 inch tires.
Cool stuff ,check out my Chevy cummins project at briarwood outfitters ,tell me what ya think,
Does the Chevy throttle cable work on the dodge
My truck was originally a diesel and the stock Chevy throttle cable fit.
.
Is that a stock radiator. And if so where did you find that lower radiator hose. Thanks
Gates 21812 for the lower hose. Yes stock radiator.
so this truck started out as a 2wd? and you used the b52 kit to make it a 4x4?
OldWhips -NewShitZ Yes sir.
ok iv got a 87 crew cab 2wd im wanting to make into 4wd. was it hard to do?
Just some of custom fab work. You gotta make a new engine cross member too. Search the internet lot of info out there.
Any build thread on pirate 4x
No. I never got around to it after my hard drive crashed and lost all my photos of the build.
what motor mounts did you use
+jaq830 I used the original engine isolators for the 1998 6BT but built my own frame mounts and cross member.
