Tom Noddy literally wrote the book on blowing bubbles. Published in 1988, it was called Tom Noddy’s Bubble Magic. In it, he describes and diagrams each of his signature tricks, and encourages people to learn them. So, if you are concerned about this performer doing the same or similar tricks, perhaps you should keep that in mind. Tom wrote a book for all of the world to read, about how to do his tricks.
Everyone, he credits Tom Noddy before the carousel, and his act is an homage to Tom. Tom is one of the pioneers of bubble magic, he doesn't own the practice!
This kind of performance is called "Bubble Magic" I don't know if you have ever seen a magician perform before, but most of them don't credit every trick with their creators. It's just known in the industry that most tricks being performed, have been performed before, what's important is how well each magician pulls off the trick. Now Tom is without a doubt the pioneer of this kind of performance. He came up with not just most, if not all, of the tricks in this act; but most of the tricks a magician using this prop can do. If anyone performing bubble magic were to credit him with every trick in their act, their act would lack flow and would be hard to immerse yourself in. The Opium Man manages to use the same tricks as Tom, while providing an act that is just as immersive but for entirely different reasons. Tom is funny and high energy, he makes you laugh and impresses you with his skill. The Opium Man doesn't try to make you laugh, he wants tries to create wonder while speaking calmly and humbly and does so incredibly well.
@@toystory2wasokay.993 all of the tricks he performed were from tom he could have credited tom before he started the performance but didn't that what kinda irritated me
I was a bit put off initially until this guy credited Tom in the middle of his act and redeemed himself. No one should have a problem with him doing three of Tom's signature tricks (the vortex, the carousel, and the cube), just as long as he acknowledges Tom as his inspiration.
At first, I was a bit irritated when I recognized three of Tom Noddy's signature tricks, but then you credited him later in your routine and redeemed yourself, then put on a few more tricks of your own. Nicely done, and acknowledging your inspiration was the right thing to do.
@@charliemayfilms1550 Yep, plus this guy name dropped Tom, and Tom himself gave his blessing to him. Of course, that last bit only shows what a class act Tom is.
Seen this man last night. Honestly one of the most mesmerising acts I’ve ever seen. So calming and beautiful. Comes out of nowhere too, given the nature of the show! 10/10.
Give the man a break... Yes Noddy is the pioneer, but this man brought his own acts derived from Noddy. And he bought a totally different quality to his performance. I'm pretty sure Noddy would be so happy to his bubble tricks being done by others 35 years later.
Say what you want to say. But this guy got class. Accent, tone, and tempo was relaxed. Mesmerized people with his magic act like the first time we watched Harry Potter. You know that feeling. Wonder and curiosity... His stage character is brilliant.
See a bunch of comments saying he's just ripping off Tom Noddy, but I don't really see it that way. I mean, he references Tom Noddy in his act, and doesn't claim he came up with all of this himself. To be honest, I'm sure Tom would be happy that future generations are able to see his techniques and find them as joyous and wonderful now as they did back then. That's certainly a lot better than his skills never being passed on and ultimately being lost / forgotten entirely.
“As you can see, a bubble’s life is fleeting. Sometimes I think it is as if a bubble is aware of its own mortality. So that’s why it dedicates its little life to bring so much joy and wonder to the world. Perhaps that’s what makes a bubble so captivating. It reminds us our own lives are fragile and momentary and, like a bubble, we can make the most of every precious moment we have.”
I’ve been searching for the latest on Denis Lock. His life of entertaining is astonishing. I just haven’t seen anything with him since 2016. Then this video pops up! I can’t believe there’s no more out there on Google than his amazing acrobatics from a few years ago. Denis Lock. One who’s dedicated to performance. And he’s brilliant at it. Anyone know if he’s still performing publically?
He used to do La Soiree every year with Hamish as The English Gents in UK and Australia. I saw him do this act there in maybe 2017. I heard after that they went to Vegas...
Okay yall, we get it. Noddy is hot and this guy is not. Bubble magic is exactly that, MAGIC! All magicians learn the same tricks. What sets each apart is how they present their tricks. This guy had a nice routine that fit the "cruise ship" vibe. Either enjoy the magic or leave.
Well, I came to mention Tom Noddy who did this first and frankly better. But I see most everyone already knows. Thankyou tom Noddy for expanding my thinking.
Tom Noddy was a pioneer and a genius in bubble magic and seems to have inspire others, Denis Lock being one of them and I think he's doing a great job and I hope he continues to grow his tricks, if helium works i wonder if other gasses works, he should also try freezing some bubbles and do tricks with that
Sorry meant no disrespect this guy is amazing but there are a lot of other comments on here that are more worse than what I sed said maybe you should read all of the other comments letter on here before you shoot me down. at least I can acknowledge that what I said was wrong and I apologize for that. And you seem to be the only one who got upset about it you are probably the guy in the video. LOL
Castle in the sky is interesting since he's using a gas lighter than air to create upwards floating bubbles, combined with the heavier but smaller bottles that he blows himself. Tom Noddy's entertainment is in a lot of ways a more confident approach to bubble magic. But as a homage to Tom, it's still a fun act.
A good innovation in bubble wizardry with new takes and big improvements it could use a bit more humor but i think its suppose to be just strait to the point and making things perfect as they can be, you can tell hes very concentrated. Not sure why its call opium bubble man but give him a chance he takes things a step further then noddy at the cost of the charm of passion thats so hard to capture in one act.
Na that gases glow was just a perk to see if the crowd was smart he had that beam up in there. Gangsta Bubble. Just caught their eyes. Could of Ka-thoonked everybody
Obviously a light, it was flickering and you could see the bright light at the top of the bubble. If it was a chemical reaction the light would have been even all around the bubble.
I hope this guy had permission from Tom Noddy. The act is almost exactly the same. As some are saying he does mention it later on but if it was a true tribute surly he would mention it at the start? I like the hippie with the cigarette better. funnier act.
Tom Noddy! The original from the 80s 👍
He still does it.
You yeeted important bits of grammer.

I like the this philosophical bubbleman better.
He called out Tom Noddy, has a great on stage persona, and that castle in the sky sculpture was great! I like this guy.
He only credited one of the tricks to Tom though and acted like the rest were original

Relax folks, just enjoy the act
but didnt Tom Noddy come up with the bubble cube? which this dude didn't attribute to him?
I Like Milk no I saw some super old dude doing it when Tom was younger in some old news thing
He also tried adding in the bubbles above the carousel like Tom Noddy. Didn't really work out.

Well technically almost all of this guys stuff was done by Tod noddy it looks like
I believe Tom Noddy attributes the carousel to somebody else if you watch his 80s TV performance.

I’m on team tom nobody
He name drops/credits Tom Noddy partway through the video.
This act is a tibute to Noddy. He does a lot of different non bubble stuff as well. Part of a partnership called the English Gents. Look them up.
Okay Mr.Original. Settle down now.
He's keeping this alive, Tom must b happy cos he inspired this

Tom himself apparently said so via Facebook.
