I’m over here trying to see the difference between my 34 button 3 row vs simple 1 row. Materials on this one look more reinforced since you only play a button at a time
Hi there! This was exactly what I was searching for! Got a Hohner Erica C/F melodeon as my own Christmas gift. Thank you su much and greets from Germany :-)
I am so greatful for the lesson. I found this kind of instrument that was throwing away be a family and I asked them if I could kept it. I'd been blessed to find your UA-cam channel. Now I can make use of it because of you.
Okay, now I'm just confused. The accordion I just got (it was my grandpa's and was from Russia) seems to be the opposite... It's like the chord resolves when I pull the accordion, not when I push it. What's up with that?
Diatonic does not mean that you get different notes by pulling and pushing. It means that the instrument is tuned to a specific scale (mostly the good old major scale) instead of having access to all 12 semitones.
You are totally right. At least for flutes, Most of the time, in the accordion universe diatonic instruments also have the "feature" of different notes by pulling and pushing, but there are some exceptions: the english concertina and the bandoneon are chromatic, but still give other notes for pushing and pulling.
@@Phillip-y6d No, to quote, he says "The word diatonic accordion means that you get different notes on the push and the pull" time index around 12 seconds in.
Do conflicts ever arise between pulling the bellows out (for volume\air control) and getting the correct note to sound? (Don't have that issue with the piano accordion).
I have recently got hold of a Gebr Ludwigs Ramboch Accordeon, it has quite a unique sound nothing like this one. I'm worried about playing it as it's quite old. Can you recommend a more modern one to learn on ? thanks
Diatonic does *not* mean you get different sounds on push and pull. It only means the instrument is tuned for a single key. Bisonoric means you get different notes on push and pull.
@@Phillip-y6d Did you watch the beginning of the video? At the 0:09 mark, they say "the word 'diatonic accordion' means that you get different sounds pushing and pulling the same button", which is wrong. The actual definition of "diatonic accordion" is an accordion which only has notes in a diatonic scale, as opposed to a chromatic scale. Most diatonic accordions are also bisonoric, but that's not a requirement.
Is there a difference? I mean: wouldn't be the C major accordion the same as an A minor accordeon, since both have the same notes: CDEFGAB? The same holds for G/Em or F/Dm?
Diatonic doesn’t mean two notes on each button. The term is bisonoric. Diatonic accordions just happen to be bisonoric while chromatic accordions are unisonoric
Just pick it up and play around with it. It will come (did for me). Especially if you can knock a tune out of a harmonica. If you dont use the thumb strap ,you'll need a strap over your shoulder .

This video was very helpful to get started - short and too the point. Thank you for making this lesson available.

Thanks for the lesson! Cant wait for more!
This is great. Thank you. Cajun at Heart!

Great, instructive video. Easy to follow.

Accordions aren't ultra syandardized compared to other instruments; for example, there are like a dozen or more key layouts.
Will you make more of this series if you have the chance? I just inherited an old Cajun accordion and it's so helpful!

he said key feature of a diatonic accordion is ponic on the push and zonanant on the pull.
can't you hear too good ?
@@Phillip-y6dyes, and that's wrong. Diatonic means: one scale and no extra accidentals . Not to be confused with bisonoric.
@raccoon6072 Saying it's a key feature of a diatonic accordion is not the same as saying that's what the word diatonic means.

You are the man, thanks!
good man - that's what we're here for.
Thank you, are you able to make a video with 3 rows ( scales)
Shepherd's Hey is a good first tune for beginners
with push/pull one button will give tonic tone and the next the scale or visa versa. Not the dominant( =5th).

How about a MInor Tuned Diatonic Accordion? There are Minor Tuned Harmonicas.

What make of accordion and price sounds great
Oh yeah 😎. Kinda like concertinas, Anglo concertina in diatonic and English concertina in MonoTonic?each button plays one and only one note in or out.
Show more lessons. I have a cheap Hohner "Ariette" that I am practicing on. I see that your box has a tag. Is it for sale?

I can play Whammer Jammer on my C row.
This reminds me of the ice cream schottische button accordion video that I have been watching for years
zonanant sounds, what does that even mean ?
tuned to thurgeetee ,what does that even mean ?
What the heck is the mask for?
lots of old dusty and moldy instruments at Liberty Bellows.
Covid police were outside the door.
somebody just ripped one.
oh, dominant sounds with mask on.
Wearing a mask. By yourself?
The accordion scbreathing
Lol
Difficult to understand with the mask.
As a teacher you should instil respect in your students. The mask does the opposite
Ditch the mask!! This is a video!
Was thinking the same thing lol
Well, it might help to prevent spreading digital virusses ;)
Маска очень лишнее и глупое в этом видео

You sound like the teacher on Peanuts. " WAH-WAH, WAH-WAH!" Lose the mask!
