I just had distal bicep tendon repair surgery done 14 days ago. I'm just now on a brace similar to yours. Generally the only time I feel pain is when I (even slightly) pronate or supinate my hand. And then, OMG that hurts like nothing I've ever felt. I did it training in grappling. Never has any submission hurt like simply rotating my hand. It's like someone is hitting my forearm with a hammer. Thanks for chronicling your experience, Ben. Very helpful.
+Matt H Same happened to me in bjj ripped my hand out from being trapped and 'pop'. 15 days post surgery now and still in sling, havent been advised otherwise yet. Miss rolling allot! Hows yours now?
+Di Don Dada it's been just over 2 months and I'm starting to drill with a little resistance and occasional flow-roll as of this week. It felt so good to get back on the mats for more than just "coaching." Hang in there, man! It'll make you appreciate BJJ even more.
Matt H is your arm back to normal? I had mine 5 days ago, happened boxing. I hate every second of my life. I cant train or do anything and im afraid my arm wont be the same for bjj and my mma training. Pls reply
I had torn rotator cuff and torn bicep surgery 4 weeks ago today. Brutal recovery but finally starting to get some movement without hellacious pain. Small minuscule movements but it’s progress 💯
I wish to thank you very much for your vlog videos, I watched each one several times and I found them very useful for me to understand timing and progress during these long days and nights. I had a surgery for right arm distal bicep tendon rupture 17 days ago and I had to wear a brace similar to yours till this morning. In the afternoon visit, my doctor told me I don't need any more my brace. Next week I will start physio. The only restriction I have today is that I must not pronate or supinate my hand applying strength. I cannot yet drive car only because in case of need (sudden steering or similar..) I must not apply strength using my right arm.
I appreciate your videos, currently waiting in hospital for surgery to correct right arm complete separation of distal tendon sitting at 9 days post injury, I've been doing nothing but research on what to do to aid in recovery time, including pushing through X-ray, ultrasound, MRI, and surgery privately to minimise the amount of scarring pre surgery.
I know your pain mate I had the same surgery on my left arm two years ago but it didn't take long to get back to where I was prior to surgery. The bad news for me is that it looks like I have torn my right biceps tendon.... I have a MRI scheduled for next week so I'll know for sure, the joys of getting old I guess. Keep up the videos they are helpful.
Thanks a lot for your Videos i have the same and my only info from my doctor was 6 weeks fix at 90 degrees thats it. So I find here a good inspiration for train around my Arm. And I start straight training 2nd day after operation.Your best comment is better one good and one bad arm as two bad arms. Thanks Jörg from Germany
Good luck with your recovery! Could you please tell us how you ruptured your bicep tendon? I'm sure many of us would like to learn from your experience!
I ruptured my distal bicep July23 and was scheduled for surgery August 1st but my MRI revealed that the tendon ruptured from the muscle (musculotendinous junction). very rare and 3 surgeons later it looks as though physical therapy is my best and almost only option. I will have a deficit in my left bicep. I need to be careful regarding letting screen tissue work it's magic.
Hey! Hope u will fully recover in shortest time. Have had the same surgery 3 days ago in Moscow, Russia, looking here for your experiense, advice) How do u feel now?
I really need your help idk what to do my doctor say I wouldn't need rehab post surgery that worries me also Idk what when to start working out again what weights per week I should start going up gradually what weight I should stop at I have pretty good biceps I used to left really heavy weights. Idk what biceps exercises to do and what to avoid also did you workout your other arm during recovery ? Did you do abs ? Legs during recovery ? Thank you 😪🙏 my surgery on weekend
How long did the pain last? I'm at 7 weeks, still more pain than I expected for this amount of time gone by. I see my surgeon this week, but still frustrated.
Did the doc clear you for driving your car because it's an automatic? I'm now approaching week 5 post op of left distal bicep tear - will see the consultant next week - itching to know when I can get back behind the wheel
I was drive 2 days after having distal bicep surgery on my right arm. Completely ripped it from the bone. My truck is an automatic so that of course helped, but I was driving my Jeep which is a stick shift on week 3. I'm on week 4 now and have complete motion and movement in my arm though it is tense at times and still cannot handle much weight.
hello ben, am on my 4th week after surgery. i started my physio after 2 weeks but i got infection on my 3rd week. for now, i recovered 90% of my bending, grip is good but twisting still hurts. any tip on how your physio program. tnx

+Olivich the handbrake was hardest so I used my right arm to let it off just to be safe. The gear stick was ok, I just had to operate it with an open hand because my wrist was quite stiff. I practiced it to check I was ok before I tried driving.
I'm three weeks post op. I also have the radial aspect discomfort. Struggling with the progression as well, but my surgeon is not allowing me any lifting. My question is, are you allowed to perform pronation/supination and elbow flexion actively per your protocol or are you just doing it for instructional purposes. I am only permitted passive range of motion until the 6 week mark (presently in an immobilizer custom splint 24/7). Thank you for the vids.
Hi Eric, I was allowed passive movement only for a while and then was permitted to start active ROM (I believe from the two week Mark after my surgery but worth checking that video just to be sure). My pronation and supination has since improved a lot. I can supinate and pronatr to about 20 degrees short of what my good arm can do and get no pain doing this. I am still cautious doing little things like opening jars etc as I have very little strength.
Coming late to the party... I'm a week post-surgery for the same op. Did you get much numbness in the forearm? If so, did that subside and settle down? Did you use any particular supplements to help with healing and recovery?
@@justinvdvelden Numbness went gradually until after a while I forgot about it... And then realised I couldn't remember when it stopped being numb. So stick with it. It will subside. Mine was, if I remember rightly, down my forearm and two fingers.
Ben Carpenter Hmm next tip, evomuse slintensity, double dose of CistaMax + AnaBeta Elite + ChloroTest, some ArA then about 3 boxes of cereal and almond milk, report back with pump and bicep pics
Good to hear things are moving along steadily Ben.
Thanks Sean.
Making good progress but of course still much slower than I would like! :)

Hi Ben! I am 2 weeks out from surgery. I have watched all your bicep videos. I appreciate you putting them out there. Thank you.
I lost 1.5 inches compared to my good arm in just 2 weeks since surgery. So you being in good shape before hand. You do look really good. Well done.

Scott Wilson good luck with your recovery. :)
I’m currently 1 week post operation, I’ve got a peptide called BPC-157 that I’m planning on using for my recovery. Do you know much about this?
I have been using this for about 16 days and my physio said I'm further progressed than most people (surgery 18 days ago) how are you doing now?
I had surgery 17 days ago. No brace. Can almost fully extend my arm and lift a water bottle easily as well as steer my car

I can't rotate my palm up but I can down I'm in week 5 of my physical therapy how long before you think I can rotate my Palms up

it took me 12 weeks to bend my arm completely
thanks
Hello , is it possible to get a biecep surgery after 3-4 years?
Possibly. Go to your doctor.
Why do I still have pain at 3 weeks post op?? This sucks

He told me I can drive my car as soon as I felt safe doing it.
Up until this point I didn't think I could do it safely.

still looking good, get some high volume inside you and you won't notice a difference ;)
High Volume ingested about 3 hours before this was filmed lol.

natty arm vs enhanced arm
My goal is to atrophy so hard on my arms that my calves suddenly find themselves in proportion. ;)
Very vain you mate more bothered about muscle loss than recovery!!
Well, that's kind of what fitness modelling is, how you look on camera
