I most definitely believe this is a real phenomenon. I also believe this happens way more to certain groups. I remember interning as a legal clerk and mysteriously getting most of the assignments. Some jobs simply feel like a hazing, and people would be surprised how often this happens in so called professional fields. That’s why environment is just as important or a little more important than financial gain at this point in my life. I refuse to be on a job earning 6+ figures and feeling like a bullseye on a dart board. That’s miserable.
I think it happens more to certain groups too! I’ve definitely worked a few jobs where it felt like I was getting hazed. I agree with you on the importance of environment as well. I’ve decided if I can’t get intel or a good read on that, then I’m only interested in remote positions.
This happened to me as well. Along with a host of other qf tactics. Tip: start searching for a new job asap. Being fired is a bad look, but leaving for a better job is understandable. Story: I was entitled to 3 weeks but my manager said that was too long to take at one time. (Coworker took months at a time.) And wouldn't pay me for them in advance. He must have been on to me. So, I didn't double down. I took my 1st week and a month later the other 2. At the end of my vacation, was Payday, I realized that I wasn't paid yet... AGAIN! That he was going to wait for me to get back to work on Monday 1st. At that point, I signed another contract with another company and could careless about these consistently late payments. I just wanted out. I sent an email and Mgr called to follow up. Not try to keep me on. But just wanted to know why. 🙄 After several of my complaints about my coworker. And not a $0.25 raise in six years. Not even training that was contractually promised for a job I already did. Why am I not coming back to work??? So yeah I lied! In my country, you need references from your old jobs, when applying for a new job. After that conversation, then he authorized my final paycheck release. Like a relationship with a stressful man, I was happy it was over.
You have lots of options while your young. Once you hit 50 not so easy to find a new place to work. Why let them chase you off. Look for options but you earned a severance....collect it.
Yes, I do agree you have more options when you're younger. Other factors play into how many options you have, but I'm setting myself up for something better. Thank you! 🤎
Started working full time in 1986. Been 'encouraged to leave of my own volition' or quiet fired from 8 or 9 jobs in trades, tech, insurance & service industry. It happens to women far more than men but any amount of it is bad. For both sides. Once in mgmt and having to handle HR duties in a small biz I learned quick. It's either incompetence, laziness or cowardice by those who behave this way, or allow it. Companies where this happens really don't see how damaging this is to themselves, because it becomes a red flag to job seekers.lol
Thank you for sharing your personal experiences! It is such a red glad especially with people being so willing to share their experiences with companies on Glassdoor, Blind, LinkedIn, etc. 😂
I think this happened to me and somebody I made close friends with at this warehouse for multimillionaire company that she'll not be named, she ended up quitting, we are both shorter then average so it was hard to get boxes and the lines are not really made for short people but they where really pushing production on us (on everybody but we really felt targeted) she ended up hurting her back a little pulling something from the belt it was a heavy cat litter bag hidden between less heavy things so she didn't know pulled the tote of the line wrong was scared to report it never did ended up quitting because she was too exhausted she found a job right away and now is a manager... Me well I hurt my wrist same way trying to lift something heavy out a tote felt electricity go through my hand reported it it was a whole thing I was on "light duty" for a few months which was sweeping certain areas of the warehouse I was one handing it because wrist pain was real and their doctor was not giving me anything for it I was just taking Tylenol eventually they gave me steroids which helped a little I asked for a second opinion their second opinion said I was fine to return to work at this time I was waiting for my application to go through to move to 1st shift but they approved only after I was sent back to regular activity now at a different department there was a lot of walking involved filling totes trying to get through hallways and areas with a cart sometimes they where blocked by stockers or other pickers I had days where my production was really good I kept to my self mostly but a few months in & exhaustion was building and mental health declining then I got Covid and was off for half a month because the hospital was backed up on results then when I was finally able to go back to work my body wasn't the same I got tired quicker but doing average production or low production and some people that befriended me didn't understand because every time they would see me I was filling a tote meanwhile the talkers and people playing around production was always high also the problem solvers loved that I was on top of missing products and damaged products always reporting so It made it easier to replenish I eventually got terminated because they where on a point system 5 points= termination (.5 points for late punch or early out, 1 point for calling out sick 2 if you don't call out at all unless you had the protected hours to cover and sometimes I didn't have the protected hours because it was a whole mission to collect hours) but I overheard people with way more then 5 points talking and they where still there when I got terminated also was told I could reapply in 6 months since points erase every six months (which two of my points was 1-2 days away from being erased)
Thank you for sharing and congratulations to your friend for finding a new and better job so quickly! I hate that the job affected you physically and mentally in such a negative way. That is terrible. I can't believe you would lose points for calling out sick! I hope you have found something better since then. 🤎

I feel this is what's happening to me. My job duties all the suddenly being reassigned to someone else.
I relate to this. It’s not fun at all and I’m so sorry this is happening to you.

This definitely happen to someone at my job
Aww that’s terrible!
@@TerynAParker yes indeed
happened to me a lot in the 80's.... maybe half the time I deserved it, but in either case, it was definitely for the best of both parties
Thank you for sharing!

What I really want to know is why the algorithm suggested this to me now?? O.o
I'm sure you have no reason to worry. 😂
Newest trend I see
The term is new; the practice isn't.
What are your thoughts on quiet firing? 😅
