Love you kids! Please, wear your life vests. When you doused the cruising chute, one of you could have easily fallen overboard. If they aren't comfortable enough to wear when you're in the cockpit & on deck, find some that are! One rogue wave & you could both be in the ocean. Janaye, you're a Warrior Princess! Safe travels. ❤

@@LeadingtheEscapade Yes please guys wear a life jacket if it isn't comfortable order something that is. Once you are in the water that's it you are a goner. 've noticed there's a lot of YOU TUBE Sailing channels that aren't wearing their safety gear. If anything unfortunately happens you are the only ones at fault.

There's 2 words in the English language that make me cringe. To a beef and mutton farmer, now retired, saying vegan and vegetarian makes me cringe. There is absolutely no purpose or need to mention them on a sailing channel. I have a library of a few hundred sailing books authored by real round the world seamen, but I'll give you just three,...Sir Francis Chichester, (Gypsy Moth 4) Sir Alec Jones (Lively Lady) Sir Robin Knox-Johnson (Suhaili) none of who mention the V word. Round the world yachtsmen just want to hear about the voyage. Yeah sure talk about what you're eating,, but why use the V word. Not important to the narrative. End of today's lecture. Thanks for sharing. Cya.

WELL F*ing DONE!! Goodness was that great you were able to capture that. What you two have shown is just a great example of the experience of being alive. 1. The unknown challenge. 2. Acceptance and moving forward, 3. The effort, 4. The return. You see this in every great hero adventure. But even more so, yours was real. It was captured. You can see Jennae's emotional release once realizing the moment is behind. You can see Jason's thought process. The fact you went up in a following seas and Jennae is the one who accepted the challenge is even crazier. J, let this be a huge mark in your memory. This is a woman who overcame a challenge that most wouldn't even attempt. Goes beyond the definition of "she's a keeper". This is why I try to spend my life in these moments, whether on the ocean, out in the wilderness, or elsewhere. It's the experience of being alive. Really, you two, WELL DONE!

In all honesty I was actually more scared to be the one in control of everything down there and would’ve preferred go up as I know Jason is much more in control of the boat if something crazy were to happen. But thankyou so much for making me feel like a bad b*tch 😜 hahah much love ❤️🫶🏼

Another exceptional episode… you have not had an easy crossing but you are doing an amazing job. Janaya you are a superstar … that was no easy trip up the mast with the boat rolling in an Atlantic swell but you managed to get the furler head back down… hard enough for a full crew!11 ❤

Our crossing, the Viking explorers group, glad you shadowed, was one of the roughest conditions to date for the group.
Having dolphins show up for at your stressed conditions, was interesting, for sure. No matter how many times you see them, they seem to make us happy! Definitely, something you two needed. Good on you for tackling the trip up the mast!
Your adventures, sailors that share the sea and similar experiences, are what makes sailors admired by many. You and Jason earned the respect of being offshore sailors, it’s just different than Coastal sailing. Congratulations on fighting through what the sea has thrown at you⛵️😎

If sailing was easy, everyone would do it! Awesome job troubleshooting! We added folding mast steps years ago and they have been a total game changer. Just an idea (might/might not have worked) but will test it next time I have my headsail down ... a lasso line around the front forestay hoisted up with a spinnaker halyard, just as it gets over your top furler pull on lasso line to close up above furler, then pull down ... probably with another downhaul line attached to spinnaker halyard as a backup.

B4 knot meters, a 25ft line with a float on one end was used by throwing it ahead until the line was straight and timing it until the line tugged straight astern. 50ft in 5 seconds = 1 knot, 2 seconds = 6 knots ...

I must have missed what happened to the mainsail. Very brave climbing up there and getting that shackle on! It's such a feeling of isolation way out there in the deep blue water. You both stayed calm and worked out a good plan despite relatively poor conditions. It's good to know you have tested yourselves and proven what you can deal with in challenging situations.

Ah yes we probably didn’t highlight it a lot, but the main traveller burst off the track. We probably could’ve tried to fix it in one spot and still have the main raised but we just couldn’t think of how to do it, the exhaustion was causing a bit of brain fog out there 🧠 😅 we were sailing pretty good with just the headsail but when the headsail dropped it wasn’t ideal it wasn’t ideal 😬 Thankyou so much for your kind words ☺️🫶🏼

One thing I’ve always carried when offshore for emergencies like going up the mask is a good helmet. Bones etc can tend to but head injuries much more life threatening with help so far away. Nice work though and great teamwork ❤

Nice video already, halfway the ep now. Just wondering why you are not wearing a lifejacket + tether when moving to the bow of the boat dropping that kite?

@@LeadingtheEscapade I totally get it yea, rushing in stressed times like that makes you forget such things easily. Was just wondering, but seeing you wearing lifejackets later on. Safety is everything :)
