Murtagh was my favourite character. I will be reading this for sure. I have a soft spot for edgy characters. This story was integral when I was growing up. It definitely played a huge role in my love for fantasy.
@@CapturedInWords you will I truly believe. Just goy done with mine at 23 yo, first time reading them was 14, and the reread just absolutely solidified my love for this world
I gasped do audibly when i read the title of this video??!! OMG the Inheritance Cycle was and is the LOML - i remember i used to be so obsessed with it I reread once a year and my first profile picture on FB was a selfie of me and my copy of Eragon 😭 I’m so excited!!!!
I’m excited for this. Murtagh is my favorite character and it’ll be nice to see character growth and redemption. I’ll probably re read the series since it’s been a while.
So looking forward to this! And again, I can't thank you enough for making me a bookworm again, after many years with Reading slump! And thank you for making videos that have helped me through a tough time in my life!✌️ Peace from Norway
Considering I first read these books in my early 20's I still really enjoyed them, and over the years I have even re-read the series a few times. I am really looking forward to any and all future additions to this awesome series.
Super pumped for this! My wife and I reread it back in 2020. I think it is a great "beginner fantasy" for those that are new to epic fantasy. Its easy to have nostalgia glasses for this but I still think its a great story and the worldbuilding is superb. PS, I see what you did with the books in background, nice touch.
I'm not going to lie; I'm pretty excited about this. I never really liked the Eragon series that much(loved them as a kid but I see they have problems) but I'm willing to give Paolini a chance in that he's grown a lot since then and hopefully he can actually provide something good and Murtagh to boot; my favorite character in the series getting his time to shine. As for the illustrated editon of Eragon, sure I'll pick it up. I love illustrated books.
I am beyond excited for Murtagh!!! Loved this series when I was younger and am so happy we will have a standalone about this character. Will be rereading for sure!
I'm super excited for the new books! I reread the Inheritance Cycle recently as an adult and it did stand the test of time for me! I really enjoyed them and honestly retained more about the world and plot than I did as a young reader. I hope you have the same experience when you get around to rereading them before Murtagh is released!
I had a signed copy of Eragon when I was very young. A friend "borrowed" it once and never gave it back. I hadn't even read it yet. And I still haven't! I think this new book may be a good reason to get into the series, twenty years later. :)
If you still haven't read the series of course I recommend you do. Unfortunately once you do it's a pretty good chance you will be considerably more upset about losing your signed copy. I definitely would be. My perspective from having read the series, if by chance a friend got anywhere near a signed copy of it, then didn't return it..... I would move into his home and refuse to leave until it showed back up. Lol
I finally started the Inheritance cycle books this year on the last book almost done. It's such a great read, took me forever to finally get around to reading them and now theirs news of more ♡~♡
I just purchased thr audio book the other day on Spotify and getting down to book 1. I loved it years ago and the narrator is excellent! It’s a very fun book!
I didn't even know this was happening! I randomly check to see if any of my favorite authors have published something new or given hints of release dates and came across this. So excited!
Oh wow that must have been quite the surprise! I'm super excited to read Murtagh! And I'll be interviewing Christopher Paolini on my channel later this summer :)
Eragon bereft the obsession with arya is something I always wanted. It’s so simple, present the world of algaesia and the plights of its inhabitants, and make our beloved murthagh the protagonist. Age the content with your audience, add some edge, and deepen the soul of the main characters. No way paolini can fuck this up.
I'm so glad this is finally out. The reason why I Didn't like book 3 and 4 as much as the first two is because we didn't get enough time with Murtagh and Thorn. If they had some chapters with them like they did with Roran, I promise you book 3 and 4 would've been even better
Looks like I'm re-reading this cycle just in time! I took an embarrassingly long break from Inheritance, came back, had no idea wtfbbq was going on and decided to re-read from the very start.
I absolutely loved the inheritance cycle and will definitely be buying Murtagh, the illustrated edition of Eragon, and the Barnes and Noble special paperback edition of Eragon with the blue sprayed edges!! Reread time 😂
I'm glad it'll continue.. However, I admit that joy is mostly for the fact that my daughter will have more stories when she gets old enough :) I loved the books 20 years ago, however it doesn't do a lot for me now!
Never finished the series since he completely lost my internet during the third book. Murtagh was by far my favorite character so I'll definitely start a reread and judging by my enjoyment I either buy or ditch the new book.
I've been slowly rereading the books over the past month or so and I'd say the story holds up if not the writing. The writing definitely improved as the series went on, though, and Paolini's Fractalverse material is a lot more mature in its writing than the first 2 books of Inheritance.
I like your reviews have you read the Saxon stories? I’ll admit I watched the show on Netflix before I read the first two books but the show was really good.
i re-read them in 2021. Loved em cus i was introduced to them before i was 10. really enjoyed them during the re-read too, but they aren't on the same level as wheel of time, witcher or first law (for me). can't say i loved the romance or the way things ended. they are definitely worth a read though, cus i love the magic system, the relationship Eragon has with Saphira, and the journey and progression. excited for the sequels. will likely be taking a look after i'm finished diving more into first law, discworld and the cosmere (lol the list of wanna-reads is so long)
i cant wait for this to come out. i preordered borth the illustrated and the new novel minutes after they were announced. To be honest i even felt tears in my eyes lol 😂
I asked in Goodreads if this is book 5 or if this will be part of another series. I guess this is more of a companion standalone or something? Thanks for the info, Jay! 👊😄
Yes so Murtagh is a standalone novel that is not part of the main 'Cycle', but it still connects to the main series in that it answers some needed questions and lays the foundation for the upcoming 5th book that Paolini is working on 😄
Super excited about the new books! However, Someone on reddit said the inheritance cycle is just Star Wars with Dragons, and I can't get past that... 😆
Guess I actually need to read book 4. I desperately tried to read it, but couldn't get invested in it like I had with the others. I will definitely get the illustration book and book 5 though.
I’m currently re-reading the series right now and I just love. I’m extremely excited for the future of Alegasia. The release date is close to my birthday too!
I never got around to fully reading the series but liked the movie and remember it coming out as a kid. So I just recently got into audio books past year or so and literally just finished the series in October of last year and I have re listened to them 2 more times since then and fell in love with the series as a whole and relate it to a very happy and pivotal point in my life. These books helped me get through a point in my life where I was very down and depressed. So this news has excited me beyond belief and has given me something to look forward too this year. PS. I didn’t even know this was confirmed until I finally bought my first paper back copy of the last book, Inheritance just this past weekend.
I really loved the books when i grew up. But when i read book 4 i kinda lost all interest in them. I barely finished it. I had read 1-3 just before 4 and it felt out of line. Like it wasnt written by Paolini or too rushed. But it might be that there was another translator than the first books. Nonetheless i might try rereading them again and hopefully i wont lose interest again in book 4. I really need a good book series again after doors of stone will probably not be published in my life time.
There should be movies or series made on the inheritance cycle , it is a series as close to the Harry Potter series as possible . The eragon movie that was made was so poorly made , hope they do it justice
I'm interested to see what I think, as I'm a little worried about how I'll like them now after so long. I'm sure they likely don't hold up as well, but for the target audience I think they're probably still a good intro to fantasy
Are you excited for Murtagh?? I'm looking forward to rereading these books before it releases!
So friggin hyped!! I've wanted to know how Murtaghs story continued for like 10 years.

Gotta love those edgy characters with a dark past! This played a big role in my love for fantasy too, and I can't wait to read Murtagh
A reread is definitely in order; it’ll be interesting to see how Paolini’s writing has or has not evolved after so much time
I'm interested to see that as well! I'm hoping I'll still enjoy the series upon reread
I definitely noticed his writing evolving even during the main series, so I would be surprised if it hasn't.

I hate that Murtagh is pronounced this way according to Paolini; it's an existing Celtic name pronounced Mer-tuh.
