@@buttersmoothest I did the power at the end and got yoinked by the alien hiding in the vent above outside the elevator, last (and successful attempt) I avoid the same vent and then it goes "hello there" as it jumps out of said vent, I booked it for that elevator
I’ve been getting back into the game and as soon as I saw this comment I dropped my phone picked up my paused game and tried it, my god I didn’t know this was a damn thing and I’ve beaten the game 2 times xD
once the alien sees or hears you, it tends to stay in that general area for a few minutes. U should use noise makers then to attract it to another area to get out of the kill zone
Great video with good commentary! This is really useful for those who want to play this game and not just watch other people "play". This deserves more views.
Yes, the alien DOES come into the stairway. Although, I'd played this level probably 10 times without it happening. I THINK it only happens if you don't get the door sealed off. I'm not sure, though. I wasn't really paying attention. I was more concerned that I had been a bit foolish with the flame thrower and didn't have any shots left and when the alien came into the stairway, I bit the big one.
Him: oh look it’s an alien. Me: listen James if you want to survive your going to need to do these stops. * accidentally sneezes * AHHH HE’S COMING AHHH *has a heart attack*
Very helpful, also interesting, I don't have the nerves to keep re-trying after 3-4 failed attempts, and in that time, you barely figure what to do. It'd be awesome to see some guide for the other Survivor levels too, there is plenty by now, and I don't hope to ever fully explore all myself. ;)
There is also another crew card on the first floor. Once you enter the map, turn left, once you go past the flames, the card will be in the room on your left
Dude, I know this is an old comment and all, but I was palying basement a few minutes ago, and the same fucking thing could have happened to me but I remembered your comment so I avoided the vent, and at the exact same moment I pushed the elevator button, the Alien dropped from that vent. You indirectly saved me this time and also, it was my first time completing basement. Thanks Mate !!
WHY!!! I just got all the tasks done and decided to run for the elevator and no wonder there had to be a vent right next to the elevator to pull me into.
He collects it just outside the room where you turn on the generator. It's at 5:27 in the video It's after he locks the stairwell, goes up the stairs, and enters the 2nd area
Thank you for the walkthrough! I have played the main game many times and I absolutely love it! But now that I'm exploring the extras, I am not enjoying them. The first two were very short and brief with one being nearly impossible to beat because of the vent section. I decided to pop over to the challenges and see if I could do them. First one was this basement. Is the game automatically set to nightmare mode? The alien is absolutely relentless with me. He keeps teleporting too. I will literally be watching him right ahead of me, and suddenly I die from behind. It is infuriating when I keep dying and cannot make it to the stairwell. Plus, not knowing what I'm supposed to be doing or where to look (and having no map) makes it much more infuriating. I tried to do one of Ransome's challenges after and died within two minutes of going out the door. Had to quit after that. I will try the basement again after seeing your walkthrough and see if I get somewhere this time.
So with the thingy radar whatever the fuck you want to call it that shows you when the alien is near, can the alien hear the beep? If im not mistaken the beeping has gotten me killed
I have been palying this game for years and nightmare mode but I can’ t pass beasment level wtf I am also 43 year old female who start to play games in 40 ‘s
the ai in this game is such a cheating bastard. i creep everywhere, it enters a room im in ii hide stand completely still he paces back and forth and wont leave the area (if he doesnt know im there why is he stayin?) then for no good reason just charges right at my hiding spot and kills me when ive done nothing wrong. stealth in this game is such a waste of time your better off rushing and risking the deaths. i dont mind a smart ai being creepy and hard but i do mind dying when ive done nothing wrong being tactical. good vid btw
If you make alot of sounds and u go into a room, its gonna creep in there and be a little suspicious. Remember, dont use the motion tracker when the alien is near to you; It WILL hear it.
There seems to be two modes for how the alien works. The one were he is in play but only really affected by sound and tends to just wander around were ever he feels like, and has the possibility to leave altogether when he gets bored. And the crescendo sequences (that's what I like to call them anyways) were he knows you are there and is actively searching for you. during these moments there does seem to be some sort of developer "nudge" in order to keep the alien on the right track, so he always seems to be on your tail. And this nudge does seem to increase based on certain things, like during sections in the game (the second to last encounter with him is a big example) and I have found that chasing him off with the flamethrower makes him very aggressive about tracking you down. Some pro tips from a guy that's beaten the game on hardest setting. -Never use lockers except for Joe's, they will just get you killed because the Alien will get close enough to smell you (yep, he can do that), and he will never leave the room your in alone. -Duck under tables or beds and try to break line of site (this is usually your best bet). -Straifing around boxes and tables while he is patrolling a room is good way to avoid him, he will usually walk right up to were you are doing it, but if you keep the object between you two, you should be fine and he will eventually leave.(Hardest mode, not so much) -the Aliens field of view is actually very small, and he seems to need to be looking at you for a period of time before the game registers that he sees you, exploit this by always being near something you can duck behind. (again, doesn't seem to work the same way on hardest, he will spot you when he sees you) -Once the Alien is focused on something, he will zero in on it and not seem to notice things, I have had multiple times were the Alien runs straight past me to get at a flare I put down. -Use flares....seriously,.. He fuckin loves those things. If your not sure about crossing a room or hall because the alien is around the corner, chuck a flare, stand up and get as much ground as you can while he is distracted. (If he sees you before the flare, your dead) -Noise makers are good for when he is in a room you need to get to. And good for when you want to summon him to clear a room of npc's for you, you can bang the wall with the wrench, but that usually just got me killed (The Alien ignores the Joe's though) -and last thing, your tracker makes noise. Do not use it if he is within the second bars distance of you (about 10-15 yards) Hope this helps if your still frustrated with the game.
Adding to what Conns2239 said, placement of your distraction items helps. For example, never throw flares or noisemakers under tables, because he'll start checking there frequently. Lockers stay good until he hears them opening. When that happens, he's liable to start checking them whenever. Use smoke bombs in sticky situations, in areas with plenty of space. You can sneak right past him in those and be fine as long as you don't touch him. And if you can, try to get the human hostiles to make noise by themselves (Yelling, shooting, etc.) before you hide. Then, when he comes and kills them, there's nothing there for him to investigate afterwards and he's liable to leave for the rest of the level. (Assuming you're well hidden, of course.)
This guy: Calm
Me when I see the alien: PANIC PANIC PANIC
well i was at first panic paic panic but now im like Slightly clam but still panic panic.
ye it's incredible how he manages to keep that calm tune on his voice with that much going on
"Yea stairwell pretty safe" while Alien pops out of vent in stairwell
Just confirming that you CAN get attacked in the stairwell. I just got got.
Same. I was only about a minute in and the Alien dropped from a vent. My face was then eaten off.

The most scariest game ever play.Big fun of alien of course. If you olay the game wearing earphone....it literally you are IN the game.
Is anyone gonna talk about the fact that all his videos says 6 years theres no 5 years theres no 7 years just 6 years
Thanks so much you helped me a lot!!

Will look forward to other videos to different games
This guy sounds like a working joe
Great walkthrough Fox!
you could hold the alien at gun point threw a big chunk of this but you'll need eyes on the back of your head until you reach the generator.
You should 'delete the system data' first, before turning on power generator, to get more points
@Basement Hero thank you very much your video helped me completing the basement challenge 👍

I played this while listening to this video lol. Copied this way took me a few turns to finish. First one did it in 6 minutes second 3:46.
What about the second crew card
He collects it just outside the room where you turn on the generator. It's at 5:27 in the video
It's after he locks the stairwell, goes up the stairs, and enters the 2nd area
Does the motion tracker make noise?
If you're too close yes. It can detect you that way
wouldn't it be nice if the objectives said bisect alien and the rest of the level was spent fighting working joes?
I remember struggling with this years ago and just now almost beat it after like a few attempts but couldn't find the elevator 😂
