In this video I will tell you whether or not the Emerson SmartSet Radio Alarm Clock is a true Atomic self setting clock or not. I will give advise as to whether you should consider buying it or not. In the end, the decision is up to you, but it's good to see my experience.

I too just needed to turn the alarm off. I'm retired so this clock does all I need it to, and that's tell time. Thanks for the video.
I can't get the time to work. I did get the radio. ALL I want is just the time. If anyone can give me the time, can they put the time on correctly. I don't need the alarms to work, thank you!
Ty for this video! My mother-in-law has this and couldn’t figure out how to turn the alarm off, so this was great info! 😊
I don't think anyone does. I'm going online for just a digital clock, AMFM Radio. I don't care about the time zone. My Zone is the Pacific Coast Time.
Thank you so much sir ! You help me a lot, thank you for taking your time to explain us!🎉❤
We just got one this video was so helpful, because we lost the instructions 😅
Thanks 😊
Thank you VERY MUCH ❕❕
I'm going online (eBay, Walmart, Amazon, Target, Emu & some Asian online stores)!
Video was So helpful Ty!
I'm just confused how to chnage it from am to pm! I've looked everywhere
Just keep scrolling through the hour option until you go past 12. When you are selecting the hour, keep clicking until you go pass 12am or 12pm, and the clock will automatically switch from am to pm and vice versa. A lot of young people are used to smartphones where the am/pm selection is independent. I'm old and I grew up with these old alarm clocks and they never had an independent am/pm selector button. Another thing young people confuse with these old school alarm clocks is that when you wake up to an alarm, there is no STOP button. You can snooze if you want, but to reset the alarm you just have to turn it off and then back on in many models. Before smartphones, every time you went to sleep, you had to set the alarm before bedtime. If you forgot, you would be late to school or work. I used to have a mechanical alarm clock, and those didn't distinguish between am and pm. So if you wanted to wake up at 7am, you had to wait until after 7pm the night before to set the alarm, otherwise the alarm would go off at 7pm and everybody in your home would be perplexed. I made that mistake once or twice. Thank you for watching.
Mine won’t stop flashing it’s stuck at 11:03 and a music note on the top right. Not responding at all to any of the buttons
I keep setting the alarm but it isn't going off. Why is that ?
Make sure the alarm icon is lit. Otherwise it won't sound. Also, remember that this alarm clock is backwards in the am/pm indicator. When there is no indicator, it's pm. When it's morning you will see an "am" indicator. It's easy to get this confused since most alarm clocks have a "pm" indicator rather than an "am" indicator.
Thank you very much! I dislike this alarm clock. Mine is black on top and I had to use a flashlight to see the controls. 🤦🏻♀️
Actually i think it uses the signal from the FM transmission.
Not atomic..
But not a gimmick
I live in the U.S. and we have analog FM radio here, unlike in Europe where they use DAB (digital audio broadcasting). If you are in Europe your situation will be different and the devices sold there are different. The European DAB can tell you the current time, the American FM signal cannot.
The "atomics" haven't been at this low price point for quite some time. These models just keep the clock running when the unit's unplugged. For $15 U.S. they do a fair job. Don't expect perfection at this price.
How do you change pm to am
Keep pressing + or - until you go over 12.00. There is no separate button for AM/PM selection.
Tengo uno lo conecto y lo que hace es que parpadea y no me deja hacer nada
No sé que es eso. Busqué en el manual pero no dice nada al respecto.
My feeling is mutual. I can't get the volume up.
Wait, why does it need a battery if it's plugged?
Very good question. It doesn't absolutely need a battery, but if you use it without a battery, it won't keep time (and alarm settings) during a power failure. That means that a power failure while you are sleeping means the alarm will not wake you up in the morning. That's the battery's main function. The other reason why it has a battery is because the time was set at the factory. When you plug it in, it already "knows" the time, creating the impression that it's an atomic controlled clock, which it is not. The battery is there just to keep time when the unit is not plugged in.
@@skywind007 Okay, that makes sense, I gotcha. Thanks!
I paid 15 bucks for this garbage
Alarm
Setting the alarm is at 5:41.
I have no idea which buttons you are picking. Thumbs down
Why in the world would you think its an atomic clock? For 15 dollars?
Not an atomic clock transmitter, but rather an atomic clock receiver. I know that an atomic clock transmitter would cost over 100 million dollars. I think I misspoke if I said transmitter. I meant receiver.
I have a atomic clock receiver I paid about 20$ for.
Its a signal the US government transmits on a specific frequency from the state of Colorado if I remember correctly..
Living more towards the east coast it can take a few minutes or several hours to catch the signal and set its time.
I belive this clock uses the information from a FM radio station it picks up.
The FM radio station certainly uses the atomic clock to set its time so basically its an atomic clock with one extra step 😮
How can you make the alarm louder?🫠
Sorry, but I don't think you can make it louder. I looked over the manual and played around with the unit but I couldn't find any way to increase the alarm volume.
