    Why on earth would you ever play your commander with an active Merekie on board? Seems like there was a lot of wonky threat assessment in this game.

    One note on Oblivion Sower, you can play all land cards in exile from the player you target. Not only from the 4 you exile with its ability. Since Jason had a sizeable exile pile I was wondering if there were more lands in there.
    Also Oona looks at the colors of the exiled cards. You sounded like it was happening on creatures

    I noticed something that you might have missed. If I am not mistaken at 10:22, when the Oblivion Sower gets put into play, not only should Alex get the one land he hit from the Sower trigger, but they should also get the lands Jason exiled from Necropotence earlier as the wording just cares about lands that player owns in exile, not lands exiled by Sower's ETB.

    Merieke decks are my least favorite type of decks to face against because at best they say "You will never see your Commander on your side of the field" and at worst they're "You can never keep creatures alive". And I tend to favor decks that are either/both Commander centric and/or creature based!
    Biggest mistake overall was probably allowing the Merieke player to keep a Muldrotha on the field half the game. Probably should have killed the Control Magic with Decimate.

    • @esperderek5383
      @esperderek5383 5 років тому +7

      As a second note, I do find that cards like Clever Impersonator tend to have a sort of informal shroud because people often forget, in the chaos of a Commander game, what exactly that card is copying. That's less of a problem when playing on MTGO but in paper always be aware of who is copying what.

      Seriously such a boring game because of it. I really don’t care if it’s “an element of the game” she is ridiculous obnoxious and the fact that two players were playing two less powerful decks just made it much worse.

    You have to own some squared up balls to play Ulrich knowing he ain't that good even for Werewolf tribal and has issue holding himself up, yet pulling out the game the best you can, only to genuinly being put down like a rabid dog out of your misery by a Merieke deck.

    1. 6 lands,1 rock and he keeps it?
    2. Didn't discard after the bounce land.
    3. Worst O-stone and chainer plays I've seen in a long time!
    4. Why the hell he used that Ulamog for 3-4 cards ?
    As an Oona player I'm really disappointed in the plays this guy made.
    Nice to see Ulrich.

    Interesting, all they needed to do what find a way to kill chainer at the end there and he would of lost most of his creatures.

    • @Arvensa
      @Arvensa 5 років тому +1

      All they have to do was kill the Muldrotha clone with Decimate instead of declaring Merieke as an illegal target, so that Alex couldn't just recur the entire boardstate immediately, and then they'd be able to actually play.

    This was not a fun game to watch in my opinion. Watching JR and his Ulrich deck get pushed off felt bad and he had an uphill battle against what felt like 3 pub-stomp decks. Always thankful for your uploads!

    You may like a deck that steals permanents but his deck basically eliminated players ability to use their commanders at the very least and as many decks are built around it made it a solitaire game with others not really playing magic.

    • @Cyberium

      Ven Gray Because Thantis and Ulrich play differently. Color wise Ulrich could fit into a Jund deck, but the focus won’t be on him if it’s led by another.
