    Nice video! Really nice car. One small mistake: the 1955 T-Bird didn't have the continental tire kit on the rearbumper, only the 1956 model had that. The spare tire of a 1955 was flat in the trunk

    55 tbirds had the spare tire inside the trunk.
    Correct evolution of 1st gen tbird spare tire-storage is as follows:
    55: tire flat lies flat inside a smaller trunk
    56: spare tire sits behind (outside of) the trunk, aka "continental"
    57: tire back inside, now slanted upright inside a larger trunk

    The '57 Thunderbird is my favorite car of all cars. These are now 65 years old and they still look like are from the future. I got a big bonus in 2000 and I was going to buy one with it. Specifically I was looking for a D model with Coral Sand exterior, white Interior. But I realized very quickly that these Baby Birds were not made for a 6'1" driver. Makes me wonder how small the designers at Ford were back then.

      OK, I'm taller than you.
      Maybe it'll be too uncomfortable for me?

    Years ago my grandma had a manual owners manual from the 56 boards. As I understand it from what I remember from having that manual which I unfortunately lost years ago. The town button was for Picking up stations in a city, the country button was for reaching radio stations in outlying areas

    Fun fact in 1957 the thunder bird was the first car to offer memory seats google it to see for your self.

      They also were the first to offer Intermittent Wipers!

    Nice work, Zack! This was FUN!!! FYI, the TOWN and COUNTRY buttons on the AM radio are the receiver sensitivity. In the country, with less electrical interference, and presumably farther away from the radio transmitters, hitting that button increases the receiver sensitivity.

      This is incorrect. I own a 57' t-bird. The radio has a seek function. Pressing the town button a small electric motor moves the dial to the next station. When pressing country, it will stop on weaker signals.

    i love how he is so fascinated how the ignition and the vents and trunk locks works. I am surprised he did not mentioned how the high beam switch was on the floorboard. Also, I bet he did not know that on '57 Thunderbirds the radio's volume gets louder the faster the car goes.

    I bought that actual car from Corvette Mike Midwest. A nice car but it had a LOT of problems that
    I was not made aware of. The radio was not working, the temp gauge was not the correct one, as was the speedometer. The gas’s gauge was not working as it should. The clock did not work. The heater did not work. The front end needed repair ( it drove horribly). Also the brakes did not stop the car as they should pulling in one direction. The body and paint were ok but there were bubbles, again not mentioned when I bought the car. I paid 45000 for this car and expect a real nice TBird. I was very disappointed in Corvette Mikes Midwest.

      Why did you buy it? Sight unseen? Couldn't inspect it?

    Awesome video. I love that outro music. Your videos are getting better and better
    .. just a thought, I would've loved to know some history on that old radio.. maybe in future reviews go into more detail on really cool stuff like that..
    Can't wait for the next video!

    Man, put that top behind the seat where it belongs! Having it sit on the rear deck ruins the lines of the car.

    I always thought the Continental style rear spare tire was an aftermarket or dealer installed accessory. I have seen it on 55, 56 and 57 cars.

    you are wrong ,I have a 55 no out side mounted wheel that was in 56 and done away for in 57 because it effected the handling

    Did anyone else notice that the speedometer only goes to 120 MPH ? Every one I've ever seen has a 140 MPH speedometer.

    • @charlesf4428
      @charlesf4428 2 роки тому

      That is a 56 Fairlane 120 mph speedo. Notice that the instrument cluster in the 56 Fairlane is carried over to the 57 Bird but they did the 140mph for the Bird!

    The hash marks on the front fenders are mounted upside down. I would say at least 30% of the ones I see on UA-cam are mounted wrong. Those connecting bars should be on the TOP. The "check mark" portion goes on the BOTTOM. Just rotate the emblem 180 degrees and you will have it mounted correctly.

    • @charlesf4428
      @charlesf4428 2 роки тому

      They put the Left Louvers on the right and the right louvers on the left!! Rotating would have the hash marks facing backwards.

    • @MostlyBuicks
      @MostlyBuicks 2 роки тому

      @@charlesf4428 No, the solution is not swapping sides. It is to rotate each one by 180 degrees. It is not possible to put the left one on the right side and visa versa. Because THEN they would be slanted in the wrong direction.
