I like the analogy of music with speech. We speak with inflection and cadence. We group words in phrases to a rhythmic pulse punctuated by brief pauses. The way you speak is as important as the words themselves and can make the difference between holding someone’s attention or causing their thoughts to meander off into the twilight zone. And so it is when you are playing music.
