    Thank you so much for posting this; it's the SP of my childhood and what I remember and love. Brings back so many memories.

      Thanks for the feedback! BTW - what does "SP" stand for?

      @@lylehsaxon Surfers Paradise... sorry I should have explained. When I walk around today...it's a completely different and more stale place sadly, but the video shows what it was like in the 90s when it was a lot more family orientated and had a real buzz to it. Cheers, Thomas.

      @@thomasp.crenshaw185 Oh! Alright! I should have figured that out! I was thinking something like "Standard Play", but that didn't make sense, so... Thanks for explaining that!

    I loved this place before developers and cgcc screwed it up! Too commercial now!!!!!

    It seems quite different to me. Almost unrecognisable from when I was there in 2004. All the new high-rises make a massive difference to the look and feel of the place. The population has also exploded since then as well.

      Some parts of Australia seemed to me (in 1992) a little like a time-warp back to the 1950's in a way, so I suppose the cities were due for a major overhaul. These videos kind of make me feel nostalgic for a bygone era...

      Lyle Hiroshi Saxon It's odd really, I felt like Australia was a time-warp in some ways compared to the UK even when I was last there in 2007 (and again when I was there in 2004 and 2005). Yet in other ways they have a great deal of modernity and forward thinking. An odd dichotomy!

    The only thing that has changed on the gold coast is there's a few more high-rises and a lot more bikies.

    Just think all those people on the street are 28 years older😂

      Yeah, it's something I often think about when watching my old videos... I was just recording current time when I took them, and now those scenes are from about three decades in the past. Time is relentless....

    Seems to be alot more busy back then. Business seemed good, and those funny t-shirt shops were A1. Pity as this was when the Japanese tourists influx dwindled.

    • @Nick-zv1eb
      @Nick-zv1eb 3 роки тому

      The Japanese economy slowed due to a economic bubble & a ageing population if it wasn't for that Japan would of surpassed the USA

    the first hotel, was it the ANA hotel?

    • @lylehsaxon

      It was a complicated trip with stops at multiple hotels in multiple cities, and the whole thing had been arranged for me, so I don't remember. I did note the names of the hotels while staying there, but but after 30 years, it's all a jumble. If I can find the time, I'll look up some old notes and might find the answer there....
