  • Whitfield high partridge off the edge of the moor. A fantastic day out in the wilds of northumberland enjoying some high, fast partridge on an estate that really cares about their environment and conserving their local flora and fauna.

    I've never been able to shoot those durn red-legs for some reason. Out west, you had to trek up and down the volcanic mountainside. They always flew downhill, then when you get down to them, they flush UPWARDS and the chase goes on. Up and down all day. You better be young or have good dogs to even get one or two. Then they sing"sucker" to you.
    I would like to see you come over here and hunt the UP of Michigan for Ruffed Grouse. Lots of timber and undergrowth and snapshooting for the birds. I know you would do well but it would be excellent to see you over here. Add to our well kept and managed hunting areas. And maybe help out the people running their camps in Michigan.
    But it would all be close shots. Less than 40 yards. But obscured by Birch and Pine trees.

    I started my shooting career on a partridge shoot in Lincolnshire. Fantastic shooting, great birds and a really well produced bit of film. Well done. Now going to watch the rest of your vids.

    Where’s Des Mills Dave?. The deadly duo... Whitfield was your favorite shoot together. I love the banter between you. Priceless. I’ve watched all your videos. Jonathan M Gee.

    Bravo Dave and camera man/lady. For me Much improved over the last films construction. My enjoyment watching was definitely back to the high standards I enjoy of the insight into your game shooting. I was open in my less enthusiastic feed back on the last video so it's only fair to praise what I have enjoyed too. Keep up the great shooting and films. I look forward to one day meeting you as it would be a real privilege. Regards Matt

    Beautifully shot, I am doing my first Pheasant day next month so this was really nice to see. Any golden nuggets of wisdom for a first timer?

      don't panic, get your footwork right and smoothly does it, create enough space for a second shot as a crosser, hope you have a nice day

    I wondered how you felt the 28 g. cartridges performed, a much lighter load than you usually use!

      i thought they were quite wick and i did kill some good birds with them, although not noticible in the film "i changed to full and full choked gun for best effect"

      Hi Dave, I noticed you changed guns so my questions were almost answered what recoil system do you have on your guns ? I've got an mk3800 with the original rubber pad fitted and an mk 60 hp which I used last year in Scotland on a high bird shoot.the 60 has got an original but pad on it, after the second drive shooting heavy loads it started to become unpleasant and my shooting suffered would appreciate your advice as Ive seen you mentioned you shoot 35 days game shootings year . As usual great video👌 cheers Dave regards Pete.

    Great videos Dave. Can you do these shoots with a 1/4 & 1/2 fixed choke 30" or is that not going to reach the high ones?

    • @davecarrie2446
      @davecarrie2446 6 років тому +1

      Hi Tad, your chokes are quite capable of killing high birds but i would use nothing less than a 36grm 4 or 5 for the really high ones, 32 to 34 grm will do nicely for high but not extreme
