Absolutely love the older videos of funfairs that I see. I’m of an age where I remember the fair without loads of people all out their heads or pie eyed lol. The speedway there 👌🏼nice machine . Natty Cadona had an absolute belter back in the day,Easily the best and fastest one in the uk at the time gorgeous machine so it was. All the Cadonas stuff was top notch back in the day it was a sorry loss to the showman commercial and my own home town when Douglas passed a couple of years back I even as a flatly was deeply saddened by his passing he was a lovely man Douglas always very warm and kind towards myself,my Dad travelled with Douglas back in the 70s with his coronation waltzer, another stunning looking machine . It was indeed sad to hear of him pass . Thank you for the memories this morning
Holy crap!!! I was 20 and on leave from the army and went to this fair in Home-field park as I was born and bred in worthing! I just cant believe it was 34 years ago, where have the years gone!!! great times though! thanks for up-loading! brings back memories of a certain young lady!!!!! :-) :-)
Superb! This is how I remember the Stevens Fair at Watford originally.Shame we don't see rides now like Big Wheels, Skids, Arks, and Paratroopers, especially the Trabant. It's really nice to have all those memories re-ignited after watching this... I lost my shoe on the Paratrooper, and got flung off a motorbike on the Ark! Interesting to glimpse the old trucks & see how much more labour intensive the build up for most of these rides were then like the Dodgems. Thanks for sharing!

As bad as things may have been recession wise - I still think it was a far better world then. Look at the state of the world now. If a month can go by without some kind of major attack some where in this country it's an anomaly.
I worked On Pat Collins funfairs during the 70s and 80s you could jump on the rides these days with all the health and safety you could not do any of that . started working for them when I was 12 as a casual when they come to my town, then ended up travelling with Anthony. Harris. 14. Seasons.. it was the time of my life loved it .Thanks for sharing this video you have brought all the lovely memories flooding back.. that’s when travelling funfairs were the real thing, rather than these days. They are like theme parks with all that crap music they play..
Agree with all your sentiments.. I used to follow the fair in the 70s .. everything was better , music , sounds and feels of the rides and of course the Gaff lads 😂.. if someone kept getting off just at your feet ..it was thrilling .. memories I’ll always treasure.
Rides: Hayes Fabrication Ferris Wheel (I think), Supercar Sky Liner Helter Skelter, Maxwell Speedway/Ark, Maxwell "Spin Top" Waltzer, Supercar Dodgem track with what looks like Spaggiari Barbieri Duce cars on it, Bennett Twist (I think), Bennett Paratrooper, Bennett Trabant, Lakin Skid, Lovely video!
Great to see old joe in his usual spot ,John guest snr mincing about ,and Ian spinning cars on the waltzer ,when he should be on the twist, must have been a nice girl that caught his eye!
Back when the rides were operated at a great speed, not like now, half the speed. The big wheel has a real kick as you go over the top, barely get anything at all now. Perhaps it's health and safety, not the same any more.
Great video.. thanks.. music, gaff lads, captured so much of the time.
I lived in Worthing and moved to Scotland in 82 and was looking for a video of a funfair I went to when I was 14 and came across this.

Working at a book stall this year whsmiths holborn viaduct station.
For some bizzare reason, this Video appears to have been taken down by UA-cam, one minute i'm watching it, then its gone.

Somewhere in the crowd….
i spy men riding the cars and arms on the twist
i spy men riding the skid cars
:)))
the waltzers seem to go much faster now then thay used to because in this video thay don't seem to go that fast
and they are trying to give us a flat earth message lol.
