    Working at a daycare, this kind of stuff is honestly a nightmare scenario. Parents will not monitor their children on the internet and they get into things they shouldn’t. I had a kid who, over the course of 4 months, go from talking about five nights at freddy’s and poppy playtime, to bringing in huggy wuggy toys, to saying he watched deadpool, and then coming in one day and just saying “fucking asshole” with complete glee as he ran around the classroom. Bear in mind this child is barely 5 years old. It’s horrific.

    My understanding is that Skibidi is mostly nonsense humor, not s€×ualized stuff. Nonsense humor has a much larger audience in children than in the majority of adults.

      Yeah, Skibidi is just this generation's version of YT poops. Brainless? Sure. Harmless? Seemingly. I don't get it, but that's cool because it's not for me.

      If skibidi toilet wasn't made entirely by a self taught animator, it would be absolute trash made for Ipad kids. But even I will admit to applauding the creators dedication and sense of design.

    Making a separate post to say how mean ads are for children. We were listening to kids music on youtube and an ad popped up that said, and i paraphrase/quote (it’s been a month) “This game lets you have your very own monsters! Click here to hatch your new monster!” It’s awful how predatory we allow content kids access to be.

    38:11 so true... And the sad thing is that people are starting to try and justify it. "Of course I'm gonna give my kid an iPad! You expect me to entertain him for 14 hours a day?!"

    Oh, didnt know that Content Farms are a thing o.o
    The fact that they deliver quantity instead of quality doesn't bother me, everyone can watch what ever they want, but the fact that their target group is mostly children is frightening. And the fact that YT supports this with its algorithm doesn't make it any better.
    Thanks for the reacting video Savii, I've learned something again. I'll leave a like for Saberspark right away. You were also somehow more focused than usual, maybe it was because you did it without chat.
    ah, and AI is a tool and everything that is processed with it is only as good as the skills of the person using the tool. I hope for great things with AI

    These content farms may get a lot of money and subscribers for basically no effort but honest creators have a better impact on the community, more respect and are more recognizable. Those are all things with legitimate value. It’s fair that Saberspark feels angry that a content farm has even more subscribers than him but his content is unquestionably more valuable in the long run. Good video and good reaction

    The main problem with AI art is 1) plagiarism and 2) insofar as it is automated, it is not the outcome of a creative process and thus not art. Using it for what amounts to brainstorming and prototyping is fine.

    • @NevisYsbryd
      @NevisYsbryd 7 місяців тому +2

      Related to that, it may not entirely be that way. The companies behind these large AI projects operated under special exceptions to IP laws because it was supposedly all for research purposes. Releasing it to the public, especially as a paid product/service, is technically in violation of the terms of that legal exemption. Add on the minefield of IP law in general.
      Laws and regulations have not had time to catch up with the development of these technologies. It is very possible that tighter legal restrictions and regulations may be imposed over the next few years.

      @@NevisYsbryd These companies have been caught purchasing information on the info-market (which is a black market), as a developer I cannot fathom them getting the necessary data in purely white-hat methods, all of them are receiving data from dubious places.
      I am indifferent to the 'AI' craze because they aren't AI and I'm sick as a programmer of hearing it called AI, they are learning algorithms, they are a math equation that changes based on its received input of 'this is good, this is bad'

    I still believe AI is a revolutionary technology so powerful we're all just going to need to adjust. There's SO MANY harms it can and is causing. We need research into the damages and laws to be made to protect us, but we also need to change entire concepts of production. Eventually automation will replace all labor jobs, and AI will replace intellectual jobs. It's happening now and THIS is how. We need to rework the entire incentive system of our economy to adapt to this thing we ourselves created. The current systems are controlled by the same algorithms that make these content farms popular. They're causing these same problems all over the entertainment industry and others right now.

    I mean, you have to reach a maximum of quota videos before you could even become a partner program on UA-cam by my right. So theoretically, newer channels would just go into content farming. Just to gain up the viewing numbers and a video numbers.

  • @NevisYsbryd
    @NevisYsbryd 7 місяців тому +1

    Unfortunately, it is not all about the money in all instances. UA-cam is actually untenable as a business model; it has never, at any point nor will in the foreseeable future, ever actually turned a profit for its parent company Alphabet. What it gets them as an in-practice monopoly on general-purpose videosharing platforms, which is *profoundly* valuable for social influence and manipulation. Any money that UA-cam itself makes but offsets the costs of operations.
    For individual channels and creators, money is often a primary motivator, though not always. Ideological activism, networking, socialization, fame, validation, narcissism, etc are frequent concurrent motivations.

    My take on AI voice over, I’m not against it, but I am against it. So, if you give permission for your voice to be used as AI, maybe you sign a royalty deal, then I’m ok with it. But when AI is used to mimic an existing voice without consent, that’s where a discussion needs to be made about copyrighting your voice.
    It is starting to get very precarious as AI progresses. You can’t stop progress, but that’s why regulations should exist to mitigate the destruction it can potentially cause. This goes into a deeper debate as, where do you draw the line? Because if AI can’t mimic a voice, do impersonators get fined/sued or get a cease and desists? Like for me specifically, I can do an A1 Seto Kaiba and Yogi Bear impression, would I be infringing on rights of VA’s if I can just mimic them with my voice?
    This is why we need debates and discussions in the public, as well as Congress (if it worked as intended cause damn does it not work right now). If regulations don’t kick in, then we as a people need to stand up to AI at all possible.
    That’s way harder than having regulations passed, because if it isn’t illegal, then boycott is all we have, and boycotts are hard to do, especially when it’s coated in nostalgia paint. Like, let’s say, a skit was created with Robin Williams voice, it mimics his aneurisms, his cadence, even his jokes, and the jokes are hitting as if he was alive, is that ok or no? Do dead people have rights? Can people make money off of something that no longer exists? This is conversations that need to be had.
    Then you have to argue on behalf of, fan made creations as, the art is separated from the creator. As in, you are allowed to make lewd art of something popular as it is defined as creative works. Or something more clean like, rwby fan animation fight scenes. Do these creators have the right to keep the fighting style and vision of Monty Oum?They have the right to exist, so there does need to be a line drawn somewhere, but as of right now, that line is scribbles.

    If youtube didnt allow monetizing copyrighted content (especially art thieves), but instead allowed fanart that looked distinct enough (needs an objective standard) i would be more ok with content farms. I know people get flagged all the time over it, but clearly its not working correctly.
    Excpet for sexuality, foul language, and extreme violence. Those never belonged in kids content.

    I believe AI is fine, it's complicated but people can work with it. It's just a tool. Two sides of the spectrum just boggles my mind about their understanding of AI. First, not only AI doesn't infringe on people's art it's literally impossible to do so. The user of AI can certainly infringe on other people's art, but they can also do that with the paintbrush. Secondly, people need to understand that AI doesn't make art. It takes a human mind to make art, without it it's just images.

    The state of youtube really is disappointing. Creativity is slowly dying when all the original creations are being outdone by these cheap imitations. If it generates revenue, it gets pushed harder. With less effort put into the work, more money is made, and with that, more of the same "content" gets churned out. Rinse and repeat.

    • @UBvtuber
      @UBvtuber 7 місяців тому +2

      I mean, you're always gonna have hacks gaming the system for easy money and clicks. But, they tend to not stick around that long because either youtube bans them or their audience moves on after getting bored.
      I try not to go too doomer because for older audiences, the algorithm will still reward more engaging content like Savii or various video essay channels making long documentaries about their favorite things.
