Katoki has to be my favorite mechanical designer, his style just feels so right. Even if some of the suits are crazy.
katoki designs for suits like deathscythe hell and altron are so impractical but so badass
@@altreon3608 believe it or not in some cases the katoki versions of the gundams could be more practical when given some thought, one ironic example being wing gundam zero ew’s wing unit, even though it looks impractical, it has More uses than the tv wing zero wing unit, the biggest example being that it can use its wings as a shied for rentry, and with the ew altron arms, if the dragon fang is destroyed, the arm itself isn’t obliterated with it

The beam saber(IIRC) isn't standard on the Heavyarms. It was only placed there by Trowa for Heero to use in his duel against Zechs. It's really just to replicate that moment.
The beam saber only showed up in one episode when Trowa replaced the left arm with a saber holster for Heero to use. It was never standard.
On a related note, I'd like to see if the Igel equipment can be spliced into the Heavyarms custom...

To add to what Ataximander said, the hidden beam saber was put in because Heero was more proficient with using one. Also, Heero's left arm was injured during that fight and getting rid of the Heavyarm's entire left forearm did not just hide the beam saber but it also reduced the weight of the 'gatling arm' making the Heavyarms a bit more manageable for Heero.
I think, that kinda writing nuance was what made Gundam Wing really special.

She weighs 8.2 tons, and fires a massive amount of ammunition at god knows how many round per minute. It costs even more to fire this weapon for 12 seconds. Some people think that they can outsmart me. Maybe. Maybe. I've yet to see one that can outsmart bullet.

Dwight Sanson I just ordered another two of Gundam Heavyarms already from supernova, but I already have one from last year before it sold out and also best looking Gundam out of all wings suits from supernova.
I hope they don’t get raid from Bandai, like it happen to Daban. As long they don’t touch astray blue frame they’ll be fine.

You know...the Heavyarms and Heavyarms Custom are my favorite suits in Wing but man...Trowa is a terrible pilot. Aside from the constant amnesia when he actually does get into combat its "Fly in, fire ALL THE AMMO at the air, hit nothing, out of ammo, time to self destruct"
ima have to disagree , by a lot. of all the Gundams, his load out can destroy massed numbers right away without extended fights. the original missions were meant to be raids against unprepared locations. whenever he ran out of ammo (every fight mission) he'd end up in a weird dancer mode where he kills people with his knife. he NEVER just stood there and did nothing. i dont know why so many people say that shit. but i will give you, his space loadout was retarded. he needed beam cannons and rifles

I wasn't too interested in MG kits until I saw the standard MG Heavyarms EW displayed at a Barnes & Noble. Now I have about 40 MG with 4 more in my HLJ private warehouse.
I actually like this color scheme so much, I love navy blue on kits for some reason although the nub marks are a pain to get rid of on darker colors such as purples and blues! Cant wait for the unicorn giveaway, so excited!
There is a better version of this, its from a 3rd party called Supernova.
They have have all the ms from wing, redesigned.

That beam saber arm replacement was featured in the original anime when Heero borrowed Heavy Arms to fight Zechs. They needed to reduce weight because Heero's arm was injured and he can't move the control stick very well so Trowa removed the arm and preplaced in with a beam saber holder. This enabled Heero to fight even after he ran out of ammo.

The reason for the beam sabre being inside the left arm of the original Heavyarms is because it references when Heero had to pilot it to fight Zechs. It's a great detail for them to have included.

More like an Optimus Prime vibe. Especially the original Heavy-Arms from the anime. Chest panels open outward to reveal the Matrix chamber, I mean a ton of guns? Check. Big beefy head with a very Prime lookin' shape & design? Check. The missile pods on the legs? Akin to the gas tanks on Prime's legs. If they would've given Heavy-Arms a transformation, I wouldn't be surprised if it would've been a truck...
The beam saber in the arm was used during a duel with Zach’s, once the ammo was used up it could drop the arm, which reduced the weight on the suit and made it faster.

There was a legit reason for it too....herros left arm was busted so there was less weight on that arm when he was given it to fight tallgeesw

Zero Omega2100 idk if Sunrise or any of the other companies associated with Gundam was involved at all with their situation though. From what they said in their video it was some random asshole unaffiliated with those companies that just decided to mass claim all their videos just to be a dick.

good way to paint the missile pods is to dip a quetip in silver paint (not too much) and dab it onto each missile. same with chest Gatling gun

Try looking at hobby stores or smaller game stores just as I started to get into Gunpla I found out the game store is that’s just a few mins away from my work had all kinds of Gunpla kits

Hey mecha, I just wanna thank you so much for your videos. They have helped me get back into the gunpla hobby and make a few decision on some of the kits I own as well as my 8 yr old daughters small sd collection. I cannot wait for this giveaway, because I actually want a new unicorn, my mg full armor was dismantled in a move because my children played doctor with it lol. Hopefully you keep making these videos for a long time, I look forward to your reviews and so does my daughter, we enjoy the humor you implement and not having a ton of spare funds your opinion matters to us on what kits we can afford. I have yet to get a heavy arms but have gotten a few old mgs, but bottom line I got back into this because of you and it helped my daughter with her ADD as well. Sitting down to drink a nice Guinness when I see a new Gaikotsu review? Perfect combo! Heavy arms is one of the kits I considered for one of my earliest MGs but ended up not going for (got the Unicorn OVA instead) might need to pick it up someday, it’s a great kit.

That beam saber inside the arm is a call back to taht one episode when Heero Yuy piloted the heavy arms and dueled Zechs in the antarctic. Also Heavy Arms standard always had an arm for an arm, it only looked like a gun-hand because the left arm slots inside the shield-gun.

The beam Saber in the arm is accurate for the battle between Heero and Zechs when Trowa prepped heavy arms for Heero, whose arm was injured and having trouble with the weight of the galling Canon. He rigged it so the cannon and shield would fall off when Heero pushed a button, revealing the beamsaber hidden inside.
Tho, to be fair. That trick was used on the TV Standard Heavy arms. Before there were any customs.
Like both Heavy-arms variants and the Unicorn Variant is a nice model. I love the white and blue and the white and green versions of the Unicorn Gundam. The Ver. Ka. that I prepped just needs to be completed with no plans of getting rid of the box.

I have the older 1/100 heavyarms custom. The thing is super loose and a bit of a hand grenade. Good to see that the katoki version is an upgrade.

The beam saber in the arm appears in the show! When Hiro borrows the heavyarms to duel Zechs, they place the saber inside of it's arm to surprise him.
The shoulders do support the guns for me at least no issues with it at all
I prefer these colors over the standard heavy arms. The darker hues make it look military-esque (US navy uniform?), and the standard colors look like a construction worker

The title is wrong, this is not the HeavyArms Custom it is the HeavyArms Custom EW. The HeavyArms Custom was modified from the standard HeavyArms to be used in space. It had a upgraded reactor for more propulsion and 2 more thrusters, and a Double Beam Gatling Gun on it’s left arm
You make one of the best gunpla reviews but just a suggestion: no need to show 360 degree rotation. There is simply no benefit to having full 360 degree rotation and you risk loosening the joint and having parts fall off like it did in the video. Just good enough range of motion close to a human would be all the articulation you need.
I didn't know Bandai made an MG of the Unicorn Perfectability, just the RG. Which is insanely expensive.

Actually, the red orange HA was the original design bcos it is the manga design. The gundams were heavily simplified for the anime for easy animations. When the OVA came out, they gave us another HA design to make it fresh for the audience and we were expected to forget the anime designs and consider the OVA design as existing since the beginning of the anime episode. Thats why the flashbacks in the OVA when Throwa got the HA, it showed the green gundam instead of the anime red/orange.
Bottomline: the gundam design and gatling barrel design you hate came first and is the original.

It absolutely is. It's a great, if a bit basic, Master Grade. Only real issues are the wings on the Aile Striker Pack are a bit loose and the side skirts on the Strike fall off if you look at them the wrong way.
You should checkout the supernova version of heavy arms. 10/10
