LOVE the last point! It's very easy to fall into the trap of thinking "just after getting this x thing and I'll be set," so you gave an awesome reminder of what getting a job offer really means. I also constantly remind myself to focus on the journey, not the destination :) Great video as always, Aman!
Can’t agree more. I’m a self taught lead SWE. Coding is half the battle but the soft skills you mentioned really help round out your arsenal. It’s more important to know how to communicate and lead than to be a top tier engineer.
So you’re telling me Wozniak wanted to better the world but Jobs wanted to keep the invention to himself and capitalize it? And that’s what we celebrate???
As someone who is currently trying to get a job in tech your video is really true I still think I’m not good enough to get a job yet I keep trying hoping one day I will finally land the I want
so true man. I also got an offer rescinded and was left depressed and embarrassed after that cringey linkedin post. but i picked myself back up and got another offer at ibm. Been working as swe since december now. That thing you said about life’s problems not going away hit. Yea I make the salary i always wanted .. yet i still feel like I have those same problems . (Bills are obviously taken care of tho ) Ik so many people would kill to have a job like mine so maybe i should just try to be more grateful and enjoy this journey.
@LeulEjigu applying directly through the company sites man. i think i have 20 applications submitted to different ibm positions on their website that are still pending from before. You just gotta spam them and do the leetcode OAs they give out. You can’t be unlucky forever if you’re persistent.
its not easy boys, I find myself studying 8-12 hours a day on the weekends cuz I work full time at nights I code everyday on my breaks for at least 20 mins
honestly my goal was to work remote, and i did it being paid 20 an hour before covid, and i stopped there, never wanted to go to FANG, now i kinda do for job security purposes
