When my mom walked in the room, she was literally confused what Death Note is. In order to escape my mother's wrath which is probably equal to death, I told her it was about a detective and his notebook and that it was called Death Note because all the names written there was all the dead people he investigated. I mixed lies and truth so she wouldn't suspect a thing. Months have passed.

The other guy's argument was that they dont exist so I would never be able to talk to them and confess my feelings. I just said "have you ever jerked off to porn? My dad has always been on the creative side. When me and my sister were little our dad would make our costumes out of a lot of things and make it 3d unlike the outfit printed bodysuits I think my dad probably knows what cosplay is and I think he would help if he watched the anime before.

Same here! I was watching Violet Evergarden and my mom thought it was so beautiful that she really wanted to watch it herself. Similar thing happened with my step-dad. One day he asked about AoT, (which I’d been watching for the 4th time,) and he asked if he could watch it with me. They just started Death Note this week. Haha. Dude I'm a Mormon and I watch and love it with my parents. And most of my Mormon and other Christian friends watch it. Their parents too. You might be surprised. It's just like anime. Our parents are sometimes better equipped to handle it than we may think. And you can always start with the emotional aspect of it. 'It's about these two brothers who sacrifice everything for each other over and over again.' Or fruits basket "It's about this girl who goes around healing all of the other characters just by being herself." etc. They won't get everything and that's okay. Take what you love on a more... emotionally relateable level and relay that.

Also every anime is pokiman bc they all have poki hair (mostly she remembers me watching yugio and pokemon and mixed them together and now just likes to annoy me XD)

I asked my parents why they watched game shows as kids, there response was it has humans and prizes.
My response to that was sure my cartoons don't have humans in them but many other humans do watch them and really the prize of watching those cartoons is good memories.
