  • "DRACULA" by Robert Smyth and Kerry Meads tells the age old story of a group of friends fighting to expunge a growing evil that begins to take shape in their 1890’s seaside town. Travelling from Transylvania in Romania, Count Dracula seeks to establish himself within English society by purchasing property, and thereby set up his new home from where he can exert his control over the very souls of those unfortunate enough to come within his reach. The play is nearing the end of it's rehearsal period and promises audiences a riveting, theatrical experience that won't be forgotten (but without the gory embellishments of modern day film and TV versions of the story!)
For this production, the cast have come together from Sackville and Memramcook, including two Mt Alison students. Both new and seasoned actors can be seen, including Sandy Burnett, Kevin Anderson, Maddie Kruth and Stephen Puddle. One newer cast member commented “While it’s tremendous fun, it also stretches my abilities to a place that I didn’t think they could reach”.
Performances will be held at the Maritime Conference Centre in Sackville from March 25-29. The company is also staging a special benefit performance to raise funds for The Vogue Cinema on Sunday March 29 at 7pm. Tickets will be on sale at The Performers’ Company usual distributor, Rob Lyon Graphics at 10 Weldon Street, Sackville, from March 4th and by phone: 536-1904. More information can be found on the company’s website: www.performerscompany.com.
