  • What are the ancient and mysterious channels in the video? An unusual finding recently discovered in the City of David - the only one of its kind found in Israel - is leaving researchers baffled with many questions:
Police forensic investigators, scientists, and academics collected samples from the unique stone-carved installation dating back around 2,800 years (early First Temple period), but so far - no one’s been able to answer the question: What were these channels used for?

The City of David is a must see for all tourists visiting Israel. Unfortunately, many packaged tours skip this site. This is just one of the reasons why I recommend a private tour guide for your first visit. It's a bit more expensive than the packaged tours, so go with family and/or friends to share the cost.

It's a floor system used for radiant heating of a room. Not water was likely circulated through the cannels, this heating the room. Could be King David's bedroom!

Was it the location of Tabernacle near King David's palace before the construction of The First Temple?

Would the heat of the sun ferment Silan? Using these channels to wash flax fibers might be more reasonable.

I don’t know but from the top view it kids like it’s spelling something. It looks like giant letters.

Perhaps the washing of robes or maybe even feet? The channels were surely for water to run down or through?

Wonder if it is for some type of cleansing bath and multiple channels were for multiple people to sit in. In tje first part of the video, it reminded me of a Mikvah.

The channels look too small for that. Then again, it is hard to tell from just the video.
