Don’t even know that much or even care about drones but just watching your videos is such a nice way to relax! the footage was, as always, super pretty!
Hi Kraig, I was thinking about asking you if it was legal to fly drones over all these cities, especially NYC, but seeing you talking about these 107 test, I assume it's not... So in general, how do you deal with local regulations about flying drones ? Do you just go and fly the drone and see what happens if you get caught ? or perhaps you just don't mind ? I don't live in the US so I don't know much about the US laws but here, in France, it's very restrictive... so basically, if you are not lost in the middle of nowhere you can not fly the drone...
Boris Louboff Very restrictive here in the U.K. too. We had a couple of incidents recently with numpties flying drones over Edinburgh recently (without CAA permission). The police are pretty hot on chasing this nowadays and he was prosecuted. www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-edinburgh-east-fife-44739279
Pretty much the majority of what's in this video doesn't look legal to me. I guess Kraig knows what the risks are though... if he gets caught or if his drone comes down and injures someone
Great video that truly displays what I feel about the footage that I capture from my M2P. I have the older Mavice pro as well and the difference is quite noticable in image quality alone. I don't get the dark and nearly unuseable footage with the M2P like I did with original mavic. I just fly it and capture and usually the shots turn out quite well.
Hey Kraig, you're not being entirely fair to the hyperlapse mode. Yes it saves a movie file on the SD card which is in HD but also, you get to save the RAW DNG files and those are way better even than 4K! you just gotta turn this option on. This allows you to edit each frame in lightroom!
Yes, and this is far far superior in every way to the crappy file the app exports. I didn't realise this until I compared the two. I shot a hyperlapse of a sunset and it looked like garbage in the app, to overexposed and the colours were off. When I got the raw files into lightroom, adjusted a but, exported a jpg's and then imported it into premiere and colorgraded it, it was a world of difference and looked really good. It the process isn't really that bad, timewise.
Great review just bought a used Mavic Pro 2 from where else but Colorado Springs! Need to get more fluid with my shots and better at planing out the flights. Also, really looking forward to trying out the hyperlapse features and found an option to export the raw images so you can create 4K Hyperlapse if with a few extra steps.
Hey nice video of all the different areas. FYI the only time all of the sensors are on are in a couple of modes, tripod and beginner I believe. I knew about the cropping issue and forgot when I help my son video a project grrrr. I wish I knew you were in the Springs area we could have flown together maybe another time. Keep up the good work.
A great video! Nice review that wasn't a review. I've been flying my Mavic Pro for about 2 years now, but will be ordering the Mavic 2 Pro hopefully next week.
Oh no! The dreaded double punch. We've all been there! For hyperlapse mode, set it to capture RAW photos (those will be 4K) and then you can stabilize in post. MUCH better results.
Great video Kraig! I can definitely relate on starting recording when you thinking you're stopping and vice versus. So frustrating. For the 107, if you study Tony Northrup's study guide. You'll be good. I passed first time with only studying his guide.
Kraig, thanks for sharing your mistakes as well as your successes. I thought I was the only one who ever made the mistake of recording when I thought it was off. Has anyone made a gradient filter for the 2 yet? Might have worked for those late afternoon shots of the wedding location. ? I have my 107. I had an easy route though. I was already a flight instructor and have been a professional pilot for years. So the regulation part of it was easy to grasp. You’ll do just fine. Inspiring stuff Kraig. Thank you
Hey Kraig! Thanks for the video. To answer your question about why the Mavic Pro 2 vs Air has better video connection is because the mavic Air works on Wifi connect and the Mavic 2 Pro uses Ocusync. Ocusync is a far superior transmission system! Wifi connection can get spoiled by almost everything around you. thanks again for the video!
- I don't have a drone - I am not a filmmaker - I don't even take a lot of pictures with my phone - I am not a UA-camr - I don't plan on becoming one or buying a drone in the distant future AND I LOVED THIS VIDEO WHY?

Your shots look amazing!!! After using the mavic 2 pro for a while would you still recommend the mavic air? Because I’m thinking of buying the mavic air because it’s a little bit cheaper and smaller than the mavic 2 pro.
love this great in real life drone review. you've not just explain the tools but also the user behaviour. that's what we need --- we see it on online, we use it in real life. thank's.....

Interesting how the FAA locked down the airspace since these 2018 drone flights in your video. Can you still fly your drone in BK? From AirMap looks like that’s airspace needs clearance from the FAA now.
Kraig I’m here to tell you I bought the sandisk SSD and it is WAY smaller than I anticipated. But I love it. Got it for almost 50% off on cyber Monday to complete my storage workflow. Thanks
11:34 - love that! Oh and the rest was SUPERB! Makes me want to go and buy a drone and watch the sunsets each day. Love your videos, your style and your humour :-) I tip my hat to you, sir!
Have you been able to get your hands on an Cosmo pocket? if so i think many of us would love to see a review! it seems like it could be the ultimate minimalist accessory!
Hi Kraig why did you call the ability to zoom in on the Mavic 2 Zoom a gimmick at 0:25 ? To the best of my knowledge that drone has the capability of a 2X optical zoom.
@brewerjason would you mind elaborating a little more on this. Like are you just continually holding on one of the sticks to keep the drone moving during recording? Or can you also utilize one of the intelligent flight modes while in tripod mode? Thanks!
@@radeaver Sure! In Tripod mode you'll be locked on a vertical axis. But you are able to veryyyy gradually move the chopper forward or backward. So enable Tripod Mode. Then start recording your Timelapse. Then stay on the stick in the direction you want. Old school stabilized hyperlapse.
Hi, I'm thinking to buy a drone, but one of my big concerns is that in Barcelona it's ilegal to fly drones anywhere. When I've traveled abroad, in many places it's forbidden to fly drones. How do you do it?
Question : Do you take the time to get all the legal authorisation to fly a drone in the various country you use it ? Globally the laws are really differents from country to country and often require specific permits and authorizations. Many creators contents show amazing drone footage but never say if it's ok or no to do so. Easy example, for Canada you need a certificate for any use of a mavic type drone under uncontrolled airspace and it's totally forbidden in every national or regional parks. Would like to have feedback from your personal experience, how to do manage those rules ?.
All of these shots are incredibly stunning! I just took my 107 and while it's hard, if you study a lot you should be fine. I would pay attention a lot to the chart/chart supplement example problems because for my test they had a lot of those. But my instructor said every test is different so who knows. Also, another reason to study a lot before taking it is that it costs 150$ to take it, even if you fail. But I'm sure you won't lmao side note: you just inspired me to want to take a road trip around the country once i graduate and get a lot of great drone footage!!
Also its illegal to fly on mount hood. Unless he is some how getting a permit and I know you can in some places and it's hard to get, I would like it if he made a video about how he goes about it. So far I think he is just taking a chance and has not been caught yet. I know for a fact that in national parks if you get caught they can confiscate your drone and won't get it back.
HILARIOUS that you’ve been flying and doing all those weddings for years without your Part 107! Ha. I’m about to get mine as well. I’m using the Tony and Chelsea Northrup video to study. Makes it less intimidating!
hahaha that pressing record when you were recording is so damn relatable :`D I just got the mavic platinum pro at the beginning of the year and wish I got the new mavic 2 pro :L Don't you get real attacks from birds? Because it can be done in Post with the Pro more effectively. Maybe not a gimic, but nothing that the Pro can't accomplish, so not a reason to pick the Zoom over the Pro.... Unless you don't do Post, in which case the Zoom is a better choice.
I've been interested in buying this drone. A couple questions :) 1. Did you shoot it 10 bit and/or d log? and 2. Did you notice any barrel distortion and what did you use to correct it (did you notice any loss in quality)?
Hey Ethan, yes the barrel distortion is noticeable in Full FOV. Correcting it doesn't really make a noticeable difference in sharpness from my testing. I mostly shoot in HQ mode for the longer focal length... Which is sharper than the Full FOV on the whole.
This is how you do a drone review, without actually doing a drone review.
thanks for flying your drone machine at my wedding.
