the upgraded wrist band on this makes this so much nicer of unit plus the new round face makes it look way more premium. The future update of seeing the hole from a aerial view should make this unit even better than it already is. Cant wait to use mine for a full season to get a better thought on this unit as a whole but so far after two rounds i love this thing!
I can’t wait for mine to arrive. The only thing I wish it had was the ability to use the app while playing, so you could see the layout of each hole and get yardages using your phone.
I've used mine for about 15 rounds now since it's release, it's a solid watch, also the firmware updates just keep making it better.. My only gripes are: The touch screen doesn't respond great if you've got a wet/damp finger while playing in the rain.. and you can't turn on/off the auto putt count function setting during a round. Besides that the club tracking is fantastic (and free) and the GPS distances are spot on 👍 Very happy with mine.
I've just bought mine and I'm not getting great battery life. Example I wore it yesterday as a watch then played 14 holes around 6pm last night and had 31% battery life left.Have you had any issues with battery life? Cheers Colin
@Colin Gardner Hi Colin, there was a firmware update last week that added the lock screen to the clock.. this apparently zapped the battery life. Mine went from 27 holes with ease to 18 holes and 15% battery left.. Shotscope addressed this and another firmware update last Monday fixed it. I played 18 yesterday (walking) and still had over half battery. 👍 HTH
Thanks mate It's not very often I play 36 but just a bit bemused as to how much it drains. Other than that seems a great watch. Thanks for your input mate👍
@Colin Gardner No worries, happy to help, just keep an eye on the firmware updates when you connect it to your phone etc. There seems to be one a week at the moment while it's being fine-tuned. 👍
I am just getting back into golf after being away from it for several years due to multiple back surgeries and neck surgery. This is the option I am looking at because I like the watch in general but really like the club sensors. I appreciate the review fellas!
Great review, gents. Very thorough and informative. When will you be filming the Westchester course vlogs? The Dunwoodie and Hudson Hills vlogs were great. 🙌🙌👍
The X5 is a solid GPS watch. I loved the V3 and SS took it another step further! I'd love to hear reviews on the FJ clothing you two are rocking. Some solid layering options and patterns!
I “upgraded” from V3 to X5 and am not totally enamoured with the X5. The wrist band and the looks are better but battery life of X5 is about half of the V3 - I often get less than 30% after a round. Several of the water hazards at my club don’t appear (but they did on the V3). You get the option to choose which tees you are using but on most courses I have played since getting the X5, the red tees are not an available option - I reported this to Shotscope for my home course and there was a firmware update which corrected that but they don’t seem to have got the message that females might also play at other courses.
You guys mentioned that it keeps score based on the shots that it has tracked so far. That's not entirely true and lots of us early adopters aren't thrilled about it because that's what we thought we were getting. When you entire a score in after each hole it suggests a score based on how many putts you've entered. So when you do the pin-collect and tell it you've taken one putt, it'll suggest a score of -1 par. Also, that score that you enter after each hole is displayed at the end of your round and then that score disappears entirely. So when you go to upload your round THAT'S when you see the number shots its recorded on each hole.
Good question! The S62 has lots of good features but one of the best things about the X5 is that it does shot/stat tracking for all 14 clubs in the bag for less than half the price of the S62.
What information does this display after a round? Is there a phone app that breaks down the round? Do the club trackers give you any information, like avergae yardages with each club after a certain amount of hits etc.
Yes, the best apsect of this is the data that you can collect on everytihng and compare yourself to a scratch golfer up to a 25 handicapper to see how you're doing.
@@micko2007 thanks mate, I use a garmin at the mo, but it’s not specific for golf, it’s the vivoactive cos I run a lot as well and gives me Spotify without taking my phone, does a job for yardage but was thinking of upgrading for something with more analysis
In every video I have watched so far, the touch screen seems to be the weakness. Slow to respond to taps and slow update. Is it actually that bad during the round or good to use?
In our experience we found the touch screen to be pretty responsive. We haven’t tested it in wet weather yet so not sure how that might effect performance. You can also use the crown to navigate as a backup if the screen gives you issues. Also be sure to update the device firmware. It’s a new product so they’ve already pushed out quite a few updates. Those updates might have also helped resolve any screen issues.
Good watch but it would be better if it didn't lose GPS connectivity during the round and revert back to the watch only. You have to start the GPS again and this breaks the round into 2 partial rounds. This needs to be fixed and soon !!
Ease of use! You sh*tting me right? It has potential but it’s far from easy to use. I have to put the end of my club up to the watch to register. It switched to green mode anytime you get near the green when your trying to chip. This thing has many many problems which I hope get resolved quickly. I can’t help but think that i wish I just dropped another $400 and got the Garmin S70 but time will tell.
Right now, the X5 is extremely unreliable. I have only had mine for a week, but the watch stopped reading my tags on my second outing, and I couldn’t acquire a GPS signal (I tried over an hour before my round) on my third. Until Shot Scope issues a working Firmware, I would not recommend buying.

Hi, I was wondering how you go about taking practice swings. Do you have to turn it to pause to take practice swings? Thank you.
I am just getting back into golf after being away from it for several years due to multiple back surgeries and neck surgery. This is the option I am looking at because I like the watch in general but really like the club sensors. I appreciate the review fellas!
Funny enough just realized you didn't cover the sensors and they are right next to your arm 🤣Still solid review and I appreciate the content fellas!
Great review, gents. Very thorough and informative. When will you be filming the Westchester course vlogs? The Dunwoodie and Hudson Hills vlogs were great. 🙌🙌👍
Played Mohansic and filmed it today! The remaining 3 will be out in mid-May!
Do you need to tag each putt or is it automatic?
Golficity is the reason I bought my V3 and recommended it to my friends. I will consider the X5.
Just to say that the Pause feature IS an option on the V3 also.
The X5 is a solid GPS watch. I loved the V3 and SS took it another step further! I'd love to hear reviews on the FJ clothing you two are rocking. Some solid layering options and patterns!
I've been watching your recent vlogs and noticed you're not using the watch anymore. Why are you not using their devices any longer?
I “upgraded” from V3 to X5 and am not totally enamoured with the X5. The wrist band and the looks are better but battery life of X5 is about half of the V3 - I often get less than 30% after a round. Did you put a screen protector on the watch? If so where did you get that from
Do the X5 give users slope adjusted yardage? Thanks
how accurate are the distances within 80 yards of the green?
Great video guys! BTW throw some lotion at those crocodile fingers pronto!

Just a copy of the LX5C which I think is better imo. Great vid as always guys from stunning London 😂
How does the new shot scope compare to the garmin s62??
Good question! The S62 has lots of good features but one of the best things about the X5 is that it does shot/stat tracking for all 14 clubs in the bag for less than half the price of the S62.
Will I need my reading glasses to see yardages. Game changer for me

Does this watch have a swing tempo feature?
Unfortunately no tempo readings but it does do shot tracking for every shot.

great review. love the new x5. more features and still very ease of use. they also redesigned the tags to fit rounded grip butts better.
This might be a really really stupid question! But is this legal to wear in a competition? (online roasting probably coming my way haha)

Upgraded to x5 after 14 tries I have no rounds recorded, X5 SUPPORT IS A "0"
Golf city smoke that weed lol garmins60 Ben out tho…. And Ben king and supports many activities being that golf is the main priority

Look like Garmin approach S62 with less features
The Garmin is a solid unit but the benefit of the X5 is that it does stat tracking for all 14 clubs in the bag at about half the price of the S62.
Time for some playing vlogs getting tired of the equipment video just saying love the channel though
Weather is finally warming up here in NJ. We’ll be back on the course next week!
Don't buy,, can't pair tags. Bad buying decision to purchase
I read that you might need to touch the sensor gently to the watch, then it responds.
