#2WeeksInBangkok - Day 3: On Day 3 of this video series we first visited Wat Saket (which is known also as the Golden Mount), and then we proceeded on to Loha Prasat. After that we were hungry and went to hear at a Thai rice and curry restaurant at Nang Loeng Market.
00:30 Wat Saket (วัดสระเกศ) - 20 THB ($0.56) - This is a temple not too far from Democracy Monument in Bangkok, and it’s famous as being the Golden Mount, situated on the top of a man-made little hill. One of the highlights of visiting Wat Saket (วัดสระเกศ) when you’re in Bangkok is being able to climb to the top of the staircase (it’s not too tall), and getting a great view of Bangkok from the center of the city.
2:43 Loha Prasat (โลหะปราสาท) - Free - This is another one of the less visited temples in Bangkok, and it’s actually a really interesting temple, also known as the Metal Castle for its shape and design. Just like Wat Saket, you can climb to the top of Loha Prasat (โลหะปราสาท) for another nice view of Bangkok.
4:03 Kluay tod, Man tod (กล้วยทอด มันทอด) - 20 THB ($0.56) - One of the many common Thai street food snacks around Bangkok is deep fried bananas. And walking on our way to lunch we stopped for a bag of deep fried bananas at a very famous place that usually serves them to people in their cars waiting in traffic.
5:56 Nang Loeng Market (ตลาดนางเลิ้ง) and Khao Gaeng Ruttana (ข้าวแกงรัตนา) - We walked over to one of my favorite markets in Bangkok, and although there are plenty of things to choose from to eat, Ying and I both love Khao Gaeng Ruttana (ข้าวแกงรัตนา), the Thai rice and curry restaurant at the market. We got seats, and ordered a number of different dishes. One of the best dishes I had for our meal was hor mok (ห่อหมก), and fish and seafood curry made with Thai curry paste and lots of coconut cream. It was creamy and rich, and so flavorful. At the end of incredible rice and curry meal, I saw them bring out the pan of stink beans and shrimp and had to order it as well - it was outstanding. It’s one of my favorite Thai rice and curry restaurants in Bangkok.
12:50 Nam ponlamai pan (น้ำผลไม้ปั่น) - 35 THB - Located within Nang Loeng Market, there’s an amazing stall that serves some of the finest fruit shakes in Bangkok.
15:09 Marble Temple (วัดเบญจมบพิตร) - 20 THB ($0.56), Ananta Samakhom Throne Hall (พระที่นั่งอนันตสมาคม), Vimanmek Mansion (พระที่นั่งวิมานเมฆ) - After finishing lunch we walked over to Dusit, which is the main government district of Bangkok to do some of the most famous things to do in Bangkok - some of the most well known attractions. Both Ananta Samakhom Throne Hall (พระที่นั่งอนันตสมาคม), Vimanmek Mansion (พระที่นั่งวิมานเมฆ) are worth a visit when you’re in Bangkok and you can get access to both of them using your same entrance ticket as the Grand Palace (so keep your ticket).
18:59 Kuay Teow Neau Nai Soi (ร้านก๋วยเตี๋ยวเนื้อนายโส่ย) - For dinner we came out to a small restaurant that serves Thai beef noodles. I ordered a bowl of kuay teow neua buay pisayt (ก๋วยเตี๋ยวเนื้อเปื่อยพิเศษ), braised beef and noodles. Read more about this restaurant here: www.eatingthaifood.com/2015/12...
21:35 Lookshin Tongchai (ลูกชิ้นธงชัย) - 7 THB ($0.20) per stick - Finally to end the night, we had a couple skewers of some excellent home-made grilled meatballs.

Your face tells the story of the food you are eating. My mouth is just watering.
With every bite I could really taste the deliciousness. His LEAN was on point!!!
Mark, You deserve more credit than you get for down to earth Bangkok. A mandatory video for people planning a visit.
+MIKIETHAI Thank you!
Your facial expression when you eat is priceless makes me want to be there trying the food keeping making videos love watching you tour around and eating different kinds of food
I am Thai and have been in States for more than 41 years. I love Thai and Chinese food. I love watching your blog because you go to places that I used to go, you are old school, your knowledge of Thai food is excellent, and watching your video bring back my memories of home.
thanks
Everytime l see Ying on cam, it makes me smile coz shes always smiling. This Thai ep is one of my favorite, as well as the Japan trip.

This is a sterling video on food stalls in the market, fruit juice to drink, the temples you visited. I wish I had more time in Bangkok when I was there 30 years ago, Mark,
+Mark Wiens this is most best of all videos.. Simply Amazing. ;)
+ahmed sheed Thank you Ahmed!
Hello Mark Weins, I love your vídeos, I watched almost all hugs from Brasil 🇧🇷 🇧🇷 🇧🇷
OK, after living in England for 44 years, I'm quite randomly moving to south east asia for at least a year. I can not wait to try these foods! Good work!
This Bangkok series helps me a lot especially that I'll be visiting BKK soon. Definitely, we'll do food trips in BKK. Thanks a million Mark. Two thumps up 😊😊
I really like the fruit shake looked delicious.
I have never tried stink beans before, but yet I have this sudden cravings to eat some!
It's funny how the cuisine they present to you as legit has nothing to do with the real deal... I think the Thai food I've had in the past is a gathering of substitutes, and westernized concessions, thank you for presenting the real deal! I love your work guys!
I love when Mark goes catatonic with that first taste.
🤮🤮🤮🤮
It's really great that you merge sights and culture in with your food experiences. This is a wonderful episode of your journey through the culinary traditions of nations and subcultures.
Love your enthusiasm for food! I'm not a huge foodie, but its great watching you and its nice to see places I have been to and places I should visit next time I can get to Thailand. Thanks!
+matt colins Thank you Matt!

Ying is so beautiful & peaceful...LUV the videos Mark
It looks like lots of fun to explore this city. Lots of people. I guess Micah wasn’t born yet! I had the fried bananas and fried yucca when they opened a new temple in Kansas. It was wonderful! The noodles look amazing!
All your videos are great. What an accomplishment and what great value! Thank you.
+Mark Wiens these videos are the perfect "sit down with snack" length ! Would be helpful if you could have a post note of BTS to be taken to each days locations and as usual great video Mark.
Taxis are so cheap in Bangkok. If you are traveling in a group. It is actually cheaper to take taxi than BTS. The only time I take BTS is during peak hours to avoid jams. And also none of the place Mark visited today are accessible by BTS. You will still need to take a taxi eventually.
+Hasher Ummar Hey Hasher, thank you very much. On this day, we mostly just walked, but in the upcoming videos when we took the BTS, I tried to mention which stations we went through. Thank you for watching!
The lean! I LOVE IT! Great videos!
Beautiful scenery of the temple's.

How does Ming stay so tiny with all of that food she eats. Both of you look 👀 very fit. I guess because you walk before and after you eat if the weather permits. AWESOME 👏

Love these Bangkok blogs😍 Feels like I'm home. I'm hungry too.
Wow, you & Ying really walked it out in the heat, saw many sights and ate! Glad you get to visit memory lane on this local trip, this time you get to film it too. If I'd know you were planning a Bangkok only trip, I would have suggested "Cooking with Poo". She takes people to the Klong Toey wet market to shop, then back to the school in Klong Toey. The school drives you in & out. Can't wait for tomorrows adventure!
Just downloaded your E book thanks a lot , I also bought your "eating thai food guide" I recommend it ! very nice work

This guy cracks me up with his facial expressions after taking his first bite of food. I must admit that I actually look forward to an expression of total disgust at some of the foods he eats.
