Obviously Tony is great but man, the host is fantastic. Low key, asks relevant questions, doesn't talk over the guest. What a great, authentic conversation!
My first intro to Anton was seeing him show off his sneaker colloection ,i think they were even in kitchen cabinets. This guy is great and extremely motivating!!
Long time Anton fan, used to read his blog going way back. I stepped in a gopher hole that was covered in leaves about six years ago and rolled my ankle, got an Osteo Chondral Defect of the Talus which ended running for me. My interests evolved into mountain biking and I stopped following Anton's career. For a couple years leading up to that, he started having the shin problem, and I was gutted for him. He had to get on the bike, couldn't get long training blocks in on his feet, and couldn't do the races he was dreaming of. That was where I left off on his journey. He popped into my head yesterday so I looked up some interviews. This one was really good. He and I are the same age, share a love of the written word, and both thrive going long. It was a delight to catch up on his life. I'm so happy he's figured out a balance that allows him to run consistently again. Pumped to see the relationship he's built with Hailey as well, I know what a joy it can be to have a girlfriend who's into moving her body long distances through the outdoors just as much as you are. Thank you for the interview!
I follow the ultrarunning scene for some years and for me Anton has always been the embodiment of this sport's spirit. I used to listen to every podcast featuring him which makes me feel a bit of a psychofan, but I really enjoy this guy's down to earth look. Good to hear some news! 😃
Fantastic episode. This man is a legend who embodies what it is to be truly taken by his craft while being humble. It's for him and his soul, and the rewards come naturally. We all can learn from this man no matter what our craft or profession.
one wonders if he (Tony) knows how many followed his advice.. learned from his energy.. and finished race after race.. due to his example.. i am one of them.. thanks for sharing this with us.. appreciated!!
Thank YOU for being here! I think when you're as humble as he is, it's hard to rationalize how many you've truly inspired. So rad to hear you've been driven by his approach. Bad ass. -Mike
