Without Empire, Star Wars would have become a continual remake of A New Hope like The Force Awakens ended up being. Lucas has balls. Hollywood doesn't.

Not to mention it managed to transition it successfully, unlike Last Jedi, because Lucas and Kershner understood how to best expand the setting and characters and mood while still making a dramatically effective and satisfying story.

Say what you want about Lucas as a writer/director, but he one thing is for certain. He has always been one for innovation and creativity, rather than keeping things stagnant. He always pushed to make every new piece of Star Wars new and original. He was always more of a risk taker, which is why I respect him so much.

It is always important to remember that the reason the Disney sequels started off with a remake of A New Hope is because of the years of aggressive backlash from star wars fans at the time over the prequels which ruined the careers of many actors involved.

Nostalgia was the main marketing attempt behind the sequel trilogy, and they appeased the toxic fans and prequel haters, which gave rave reviews to the Force Awakens and to a much lesser extent the Last Jedi. Simon Pegg, good friend of Abrams, publicly said he has no respect for anyone who likes the prequels.

This is exactly why I've always said that episode 7 should have had the bad guys as "rebels" in clanky and old ships. The Republic should have been large and new and imposing, but vulnerable to the guerilla and terroristic tactics of the rag-tag remnants of the Empire and whatever ominous power was guiding them. The series needed another inversion, not a rehash of episode IV.

Why is the first order so powerful, it makes no sense? They should be more equivalent to something like a terrorist group like Isis as this order is just the remnants of a dead empire and they are primarily centered in the unknown regions of space, so they should be small enough to run from big battles but deadly in guerilla warfare and terrorism. It makes me so mad.

While the actors tried to carry what they were given, and the writers/directors had to work within the restrictions they were given, at the premise level the sequels are undeniably cynical.

I was always fascinated by the glimpses of the larger world such as the Senate, the rebellious systems, the factions within the Imperial military (pro or against the "technological terror"), the governors vs. the elected Senators, the underworld (why didn't Han deliver the credits to Jabba after the battle of Yavin?). Most of it is either gone or underdeveloped in TESB. It basically becomes a story of both the Jedi and the Sith trying to manipulate Luke into doing what they want him to do so that their side wins.
I know many fans dislike the politics in the prequels but I personally find them fascinating and would've loved to see more of it - like who are the Separatists, are all of them really bad or maybe they're simply tired of the corruption in the Republic? The problem with AOTC is that it has too much politics and intrigue and condenses all the action in the end (from that point however, its fucking nonstop)

    • @gabethebabe3337
      @gabethebabe3337 2 роки тому +18

@@elgusaniiiodeljuego6823 I think AOTC does a good job of illustrating how much of a hassle starting a war really is. A war doesn't truly start until two sides decide to fight. The whole movie is about people who don't want to fight, being told that they need to by a guy who has control of both sides. Do I think it could have been condensed a little? Maybe, but what exactly to you condense? Just about every scene has a purpose and connects to something being established. You can't cut the murder/romance because you need to establish the villains are still out there plotting revenge and the relationship of Anakin and Padme (which is pretty important in a saga about family). You can't cut the politics or the Kamino stuff because all of that establishes the upcoming war. That's the movie George wanted to make and I respect it. Plus this movie lead to two amazing Clone Wars shows and I think that more than makes up for the politics of waiting to start a war.

I expected this video to be good, not a masterpiece. I’ve been privy to the “rhyming” motif for years and even noticed it in The Phantom Menace when I was a little kid, but the montage at the end of this video really drives the point home, with Ben crouching over Luke like Sidious crouched over Vader, and Luke throwing his lightsaber away and then Anakin seemingly catching it to execute Dooku... really superb

      Definitely.
I would like to see George Lucas' actual sequels so we have the creator's saga. E.g. suggested titles,
Episode VII Shadow of the Force
Episode VIII Knight of the Whills
Episode IX Rise of the New Order
      This type of casting:
ORGINAL HEROES (Luke, Leia, Han, Lando, the droids) - original cast
FORCE GHOSTS (Yoda, Obi Wan, Anakin, Qui Gon and other prequel Jedi like Windu and Aayla) - original cast. For Obi Wan, do CGI of Alec Guiness voiced by Ewan Mcgregor
      THE NEXT GENERATION:
Kira Skywalker (Luke's daughter) - Naomi Scott
      Jaina Solo - Olympia Valance
Bail Solo (who turns dark) - Ben Barnes
Mara Jade Skywalker - Gal Gadot
Jedi students - Anna Akana, William Mosley, Emma Watson, Katie Leung, Dylan O'brien, Kee Hong Lee, Veronica Ngo
Kyle Katarn - Robert Downey Junior
      Jan Ors - Kelly Hu
THE WHILLS - Judi Dench, Denzel Washington, Kevin Costner, Jackie Chan
      QUI GON - Liam Neeson
      THE VILLAINS:
Plageuis the Wise - Anthony Hopkins
Red Twilek Jedi Hunter - Chloe Bennet
      Mandolarian Deputy - Colin Salmon
      GALACTIC FACTIONS:
Naboo Queen (Leia's cousin) - Catherine Zeta Jones
      Pandoran King - Antonio Banderas
Black Sun - Constance Wu, Jessica Alba, Zac Efron, The Rock
Vigilantes - Jim Caviezel, Sarah Shahi, Russel Crowe, Georgina Campbell,
BILLIONAIRE ALLIANCE ALLIES: Christian Bale, Morgan Freeman, Kristen Kreuk
      IMPERIAL REMNANT:
      Imperial Vizier - Jeff Goldblum
      Marisiah Fel - Sybilla Deen
      Thrawn - Benedict Cumberbatch
      Jedi Bourne - Matt Damon
Jedi ghosts from prequels and Padme (original prequel cast)
Irritating brat who gets humiliated by a Gungan - Daisy Ridley.
      Thoughts?

It's been said before, but Star Wars under George Lucas was essentially the biggest independent film series ever made under the creative umbrella of a visionary; the studio/corporate Star Wars of Disney is hit and miss because it's trying to sell the series, not both respect/analyze the prior films and allow their creators to make their own narratives within said sandbox, but try to recreate what has already been done with no risk for easy money. Andor and Rouge One definitely understand Star Wars much better than the Sequel Trilogy did.
