- From "The Road To Hollywood" but originally from a Mack Sennett short, this film shows Bing crooning "Wrap Your Troubles in Dreams" to a group of Indians in Arizona. Afterwards the men take a dislike to Bing and chase him away.
This song also appears in the game Bioshock and has been getting some popularity recently from this.. - Розваги
For some weird reason I'm obsessed with that kind of music now thanks to Bioshock. It's so awesome. :D
Great song. Crosby was so charismatic when he was young.
i know right!!!
i love this song , it is such a great song.
I was watching Green Mile when I heard this and I screamed "Bioshock!", That reminded me to look this up, but I had no clue this many people looked it up for a similar reason- Bioshock
LMAO at the way the "ows" were cut together.
Bing's 1939 Decca re-recording of "Wrap Your Troubles In Dreams" (yes, with John Scott Trotter's orchestra) was the one with the "naughty take" that was bootlegged for years afterward. He originally recorded it for Brunswick at the time he filmed this sequence for Sennett in 1931.
hahahah
that was the best car chase I have ever seen
bing crosby = awesome
Some perspective on the Bing. He had 38 No 1 hits (Elvis 18 Beatles 24). Was the No 1 movie box office attraction 5 times. 3 Academy award nominations 1 win (Going My Way).
Had 3400 of his own radio shows and 600 guest appearances on others shows. He lead the development and popular use of recording tape thus changing an industry. Mastered the art o using a microphone and lead the way for Frank, Perry, Dino and for that matter anyone who ever sang smoothly into a mic e.g Paul Mc Yesterday.
jazzgirl1920s "Out of Nowhere" (Oct 1931) was Bing's first big solo hit. I have the CD of that broadcast. It's on Take Two Records, "Echoes of the Cocoanut Grove: Gus Arnheim and the Ambassador Hotel Orchestra". It's from 1983, I think, and out of print. Legend is that collectors will pay $500 for it, but with all the people ripping and file sharing, I can't see why so much. I'm keeping my copy, because my father, as a 19 year old kid, was there the night of that broadcast, with his date.
Those Bootleg 78's were widely, although illegally distributed in the late 30's and early 40's. The original recoreding of - Wrap Your Troubles in Dreams was made in 1932.
this is funny!!! Especially when Bings car goes around the corners!! LOLOLOL!
Regardless of how he treated his kids, this man could sing!
such a hunk, that's like calling me boo-boo!!!💞🎙😙
i love this song im not gonna lie i found out about this song from bioshock
Yea ...in Bioshock it's Crosby's verion,!!!
Hahaha, I'm loving the classic car chase scene!
Now's as good a time as any to say this... God I love UA-cam!!
Very nice to see! Related question: I've got a clearly boolegged 78 of a rejected take of Bing singing this (w/John Scott Trotter's orch, it sounds). He forgets the lyrics then starts cursing as he sings. You can hear the band cracking up in the background. VERY funny! Anybody else know about this?
we're doing a barbershop arrangement of this - it's AWESOME!!!! :)
@cage336 I believe it plays in a hidden area, accessed by a vent in the Medical area. Great song.
Bing was thought of as the entertainer who did most for wartime morale. I love Frank, Dino and plenty more but Bing really lead the way. He has some great albums but much of his best work came in the pre album days and is spread across labels unlike Franks Capitol and Reprise stuff which is more accessible. Also it is lo fi for the most part. Bing was posthumously dissed by his son & others but whatever the truth of that is he deserves to be in the very first rank of influential music figures
those are some nice special effects there
Bioshock!!
Castles may tumble
That's fate after all
Life's really funny that way
Sang the wrong melody
We'll play it back
See what it sounds like, hey hey
They cut out eight bars, the dirty bastards
And I didn't know which eight bars they were gonna cut
Why doesn't somebody tell me these things around here?
Holy Christ, I think I'm goin' off my nuts.
LMAO!!!!
@Raidermonkz i have both boishock games, and i haven't heard this song in either :(
@jerseygirl860
Same here!
Not only the 40's though, also the 20's, 30's and 50's ;D
:)
I like you :P
Just how do you mean that? There's so many ways to interpret this.
I have played Bioshock over and over for million times, but where is this in bioshock?
In a secret room in medical Pavilion
@tabitwin You mean Sinatra, not Crosby? :|
Skies are grey in Rapture forever.
@tabitwin Yeah but its Sinatra with the nickname ;)
hahahah dude i sat next to the jukebox for like a half an hour killing people and i keep turning the jukebox on as i was doing it it was hilarious i def know what ya mean im about to get the second one does it have music like the first one did ?
I like to transcribe this song
I have this sheet music
The Green Mile brought me here :)
Heard this in Green mile ;]
Frank had a pleasant voice, but he could never really match Bing in my book. This song enjoyed its popularity during the early 30's, and briefly again in the late 30's, all before Frank really began his career.
Bing's version also fit the in-game scene better.
did he treat his kids bad in real life mate
These film effects are corny, even by old standards..the acting is charming and the song is nice, though.
