Strand gets less traffic from other highly popular Crested Butte trails but it remains a firm favorite. It provides views, golden aspens in the Fall and a smaller ride for those burnt out on the higher, longer rides.

I should add the the ride down Canal trail at the end is a pretty good finish as well! You may need to cross a high creek though in Spring/Early summer though.

Just figured id add a comment to let you know that I discovered crested butte because of your videos and we ended up doing the 401 last year because of it. This year I’ve been through all of your Colorado videos (literally all of them) and am basically planning my my Colorado 3 week road trip around the trails you hit in your videos. So I just wanted to come on here to thank you for your detailed videos and the long videos. They truly do help with deciding on what trail to do. So just know I truly appreciate your content.

Thank you very much! After a bit of a break I need the encouragement to get back to some of the videos I never posted!

@@Roaming50 seriously you should. The graphs and charts really help gauge what you’re going through. I do have a question about Crested Butte
      1. If you had 5 riding days in CB which trails would you ride?
      2. Also is there a shuttle service for most of the trails in CB or do we have to self shuttle?

@@offdaystv There are definitely shuttle services but I have never used one. Everything is a bit of a grunt for climbing but the stand outs are: 1) Doctor Park 2) 401, 3) 403 (you can loop this with Snodgrass to combine with 401 but that is a big day), 4) Teocalli Ridge, 5) Those close to town such as Snodgrass (has seasonal closure), Lupine/lower loop and even the backside XC trails at the resort are pretty good. 6) Climb Baxtor Gulch and descend Green Trail (check out Green Lake) for an adventure as well. Further afield you should definitely stop in Gunnison and do the Hartman Rocks (can be HOT in the summer but an often a good option if CB is stormy). Strongest advice is get up early! I would aim to be on trail by 7:30am. You avoid the crowds and the often afternoon storms. If the storms stay away you can get a bonus ride in the afternoon!

@@Roaming50 See this reply and detail is why you’re a legend! This helps out tremendously. Doctor Park is #1 on my list. It just looks too good. Everyone I’ve talked to says it rains in the afternoon all of the time which happened while we were on the 401. It was a light drizzle but definitely got me scared thinking we were gonna have to descend in the mud.

Awesome ride. Now are you back in Colorado or did you end up relocating to Wisconsin?
Notice your on the SC Tallboy and not the Izzo. How do you like your izzo over the TB?
TB are great bikes , sometimes I regret getting rid of my 2018 TB

This was filmed in 2020 before I got busy getting ready for the move, so I’m working through some back catalog.
The YT is a nice bike, great geo, lighter and more suited for my current riding. The Santa Cruz was better built though. I miss my coil sprung Fox 36 when it gets rowdier; the Izzo can get out of its depth a bit more easily. I got a few more videos from Fruita and Moab to come with the Tallboy LTc but after that it’s all Izzo and an e-bike.
