    It's expensive but what I've done is fit my van's windows with electrochromic glass but the type that allows for either a varying degree of black or a varying degree of reflective surface. It's all controlled via an app on my cell phone (or a switch in the van) and eliminates having to store material and/or set this stored material up on the windows everytime it's needed. Oh, and of course it's the perfect fit.
    I'm sure it can be purchased somewhere but I made my own. This not only saved lots of money but was fun (in a learning sense) to do.

    This channel deserves way more likes. If you’re serious about having a mobile apartment, you’re going to to go through all of this. It’s a pain. This is a good channel.

    I’ve had the Heatshield brand for years. I called and requested no suction cups. I got tired of flipping the cups from night and day. I just use old motel key cards to keep them in place. I can’t recommend Heat Shield enough!

    Gotta go with the gold bling bling 🙌. I use reflectix works fine but the head shield looks very nice.

    Next time you might want to try WeatherTech. They're a custom fit also and they don't require suction cups. You just put them in the window and the fit holds them in. I've had mine 2 years with no problems. I was looking into Heat Shield because I want to cut holes into the side covers and put noseeum netting over the opening for air. Unfortunately WeatherTech doesn't sell the side covers separately like Heat Shield. I think I'll try tracing the window shape onto cardboard and attaching the screen to that. Anyway, thanks for the video.

    The Ref;ectox is good if you are on a low budget. But the heat shields from HeatShields will last for many many years. I have the Gold HeatShields on my 2019 Silverado and they work Awesome. I made a video that shows the temp difference between having the HeatShields up and then removed then and also what the temp would be without any window HeatShields or window tint. It was only 94 degrees when I made this video. So I'm sure the inside would be like a furnace inside if the outside temp went to 110 degrees.

    So after a year, how are the Heatshields holding up? A set for my van is about $300 for the black and gold. I'm not opposed to spending that much, as long as they're going to last.

      They are excellent. This is over a year of hard use for me. They havent shrunk or warped or anything. I would never consider any other option

    I can't seem to find that type of Heatshield anywhere. Would you be able to provide provide link or name of where you purchased? Unless all the other Element owners must have bought it all. Thank you!

    • @HaoVu1

      Buy it directly from them. If they have nothing on hand it will be cut to order

      I punched in 2008. Change your vehicle on the site if you have a different year. It wont be cheap to outfit all the windows but they are the best sun shades hands down.

    did you change the suction cups on your heatshield covers? mine are a little longer and dont suction well. i ordered the same ones you did gold on one side and black on the other but hate the suction cups

    • @HaoVu1
      @HaoVu1  2 роки тому

      I never have a problem. I always have the moonroof ones on and they have never failed in many months. Its little gray suction cups?

      @@HaoVu1 no mine are clear and dont have the pull tabs on the black side they dont stick to well its a bit frustrating

    • @HaoVu1
      @HaoVu1  2 роки тому

      Oh no maybe supply chain issues….email them. For the price you paid you deserve good suction

    • @HaoVu1
      @HaoVu1  2 роки тому

      The pull tabs arent that great they always yank off because the cups are strong on the glass. I actually have to pry the cups off with my fingernail

    What kind of black tape did you use?

      Just like heavy duty black tape. Mine had a yellow duck on it.

    • @HaoVu1

      Whats up bro yeah i love them. If you are only concerned with privacy while camping then they are a little too expensive in my opinion...but if you value keeping the sun out and keeping the car as cool as possible while also providing the privacy, i HIGHLY recommend. They arent cheap but they will last and whenever i leave my car to go hiking i cover all the windows...i have all my crap inside my car and water and a fridge so i need it to be as cool as possible especially in the summer. They have held up beautifully and if you order the gold ones they are black on the other side which can be used at night for stealth.

      @@HaoVu1 I had found another tutorial for making a more complicated and sturdy set with reflectix, chloroplasts, and vynl. Had I watched this before, I probably would have opted for these shields! Thanks for the update though. I may get them next time I need to make any upgrades.

    Does HeatShield's shiny black material compromise stealth?

    • @HaoVu1
      @HaoVu1  2 місяці тому

      If light shines directly on it yes otherwise no itll just look like a limo tint all around. If im stealthing i try to make sure i park the front end of the car in a direction nobody is going to be walking or looking.

    I see gaps. I want absolute light blocking both ways.

    • @HaoVu1
      @HaoVu1  5 місяців тому +1

      I have limo tint all around and that helps. The heatshield + tint + some black duct tape blocks 99% of light from being noticeable at night from the outside. Trust me i check this routinely because its important to me as well. I always point my car with the windshield facing in a direction where people generally wont be walking in front of my car at night because that one is the most noticeable. I use black tape to make longer edges on the heatshield for the windshield and back window and its almost impossible to tell i have my lights on full blast inside my car at night :)
