NOTE: Watch the WHOLE vid before commenting... I am NOT shutting down this channel or jumping off a cliff. It's just the the official EzeeLinux page is gone and the project with it. I will post more Linux stuff in the future, just not quite as often. Thanks for all of your kind words! :)

I was newly retired, had been working as a Microsoft systems engineer. Needed something to occupy me and I found your channel. You inspired me to dump windows and move to Linux. Your vids on YT were inspirational to me and answered many of my questions in a calm and friendly manner. I have stuck with Linux and use it daily. So thank you for all your help and assistance over the years, it was really appreciated.

Apologies Joe, keys were buzzing when halfway your clip... Especially when you're telling about bashing and flaming on this social media area. Relatable. Glad you've clarified it during the video.

So sad to see the project go. I don't know if you remember my name, but I've left a few comments over the years. I've probably said this before, but you were instrumental in helping me move to Linux full time. I'll always be grateful for that. I truly wish I could have the same effect on somebody else's life you've had on mine. Thanks again, I'll still be here to see what else you post. Signing off from my laptop running Fedora!

That's pretty sad. You helped me as a beginner a lot and I'm sorry to see your project fizzle out.
I don't blame you of course. Seems like only yesterday somebody pressed the toilet paper button and then people across the world decided to stop trying to be good. But I don't think it'll be that way forever, no matter how hard certain very small groups try to screw things up. The pendulum will swing back and it will hit hard when it does. I look forward to seeing EzeeLinux come back on that day. :)

Hello Joe, sorry to hear your content viewing figures are on the wain prompting you to close your Easee Linux website and that you will be posting your Linux content less frequently in the future here on UA-cam, although you do have a wealth of extremely helpful information in you back catalogue of videos which I’m sure will help all of the new people deciding to make the transition.
When I myself was looking to make the transition back in 2019 I decided to look for content on UA-cam for some pointers and I almost gave up because the videos I initially found were from Americans who spoke ten to the dozen which I found hard to follow and extremely confusing, but then I happened upon your channel with your far more laid-back approach and superb teaching ability so with your help I decided to proceed and install it then later I was finally able to take in what all of the others were talking about.
So once again I thank you for all of your previous Linux content that helped me immensely starting out and for the thanks I’ve received from all of my family members who I transitioned to Linux soon after, plus all of your “shooting the breeze” Linux content since then which I’ve found immensely interesting and entertaining, so I will await your next even though it might take awhile.

You were one of the first UA-camrs I found when I came to Linux. I came and went and finally as of June 2024 decided to stay. Your videos helped me a lot in the past. I currently run FerenOS on my HP GAMESTATION PC and DELL Latitude E7450. I love Linux and you helped me on that journey. You, Chris Were and many others.
Yeah...I avoid Ubuntu too. So glad Linux Mint and FerenOS exist.
Regarding GNOME, I never liked how locked down it was....KDE for me is the best DE for customization and ease of use. It's a lot more stable than in the past few decades I've been running Linux back and forth.
Keep up the great work. I wish you the best.

Thanks Joe!!! Really enjoyed the trip to the past. Good luck in the future. I can't wait for the next Linux Video. I suspect you will have plenty of opinions on future Corporate-Shenanigans screwing-over Linux and FOSS. About the email stuff... I gave up on email clients almost 2 decades ago. I got tired of having to port-over my emails from one server to the next when either I changed ISPs or email servers got too expensive. In the mid-2000's, Google offered free Domain Services for small businesses. So, I setup a Internet domain and Google served as my free email-server. That is until... 2023! Google started charging for these Domain Services by email account. I'm too lazy to do anything about it now. I'll continue to pay for it. It's still far cheaper to pay Google vs trying to setup my own Cloud-Services. CHEERS!!! :)

Great work introducing Linux to not-so-technical people (like me ;-) ).
The fact that EezeeLinux project lost momentum might be a sign of something positive. Namely that Linux indeed is did become easy. And if you think about it - today you just have to plug in a bootable USB or insert a DVD and all the installation process is as straightforward as in Windows. And everything works out of the box most of the time.

EzeeLinux was a very cool project, it's always great with things like this when people with experience do what they can to explain their field of interest to the "normies" (although I don't really appreciate calling people "normal" or "weird" or whatever, it's just to make the point) or rather to the people who don't have any experience (or at least not as much experience) in a comprehensible format to kind of make the bridge between the "experts" and those who aren't.
I find that in a lot of ways social media can end up being used for bad things, but I find it great to see people share what they know well about in an informative and constructive manner, especially when it's about topics that aren't covered in the mainstream media (or at least not very frequently).

Ubuntu right? What the crap are you even talking about? Linux Mint allows you to make use of all the benefits of using Ubuntu which involves Deb installation and apt methods and the same ppas that are available being an ubuntu-based distribution but without canonical's want to be Microsoft Claus in it. That is exactly the mission that Clem and his development team involving Linux Mint have been successful in for easily more than 13 years now

Thanks for everything, Joe. I started using Linux back in 2000 and never stopped. I ended up with Manjaro which runs equally well on PC and Raspberry Pi, and MX Linux, a nice place to start for those who are looking for Windows alternatives. Manjaro is a rolling release based on ARCH and MX is based on Debian. I run both with the KDE Plasma desktop. MX is ready to go out of the box with this desktop, but Manjaro requires a little configuration.
Our freedoms have never been 'FREE'. But Linux has been 'FREE' throughout the entire WORLD (God's, pop 8+ billion) dating back to 1991. And, if it's 'FREE', it's definitely good enough for China, South Korea, nearby Penn Manor School District, and even me! 😎

I still use Thunderbird for my Comcast and Gmail. Comcast is set up as POP and Gmail as IMAP. The reason for staying with Thunderbird is that it is nice to have some things stored and backed up locally for security reasons. Of course, all is irrelevant when Comcast is down for hours at a time.

@@RuudKuin Ubuntu runs fine as does Mint. This iMac is a quad core i5 SkyLake with 32 GB RAM 2 GB AMD GPU 2 TB storage, it's more of an audio issue. I will probably need a USB sound card as Linux has issues with the IMac's built in audio, it doesn't; work reliably and some audio plays some doesn't. Bluetooth is also a fix but I think the USB sound card will be better so there isn't any latency.
