If you miss your connecting flight, due to you first flight being delayed, then you can get rebooked on the next flight. If you miss, you're screwed! This happened to me in Beijing. We had to spend the night sleeping on the airport floor. All the seats were already taken. Took 2 days to get out of there. This happened because of very bad weather, making flying very dangerous. A very strange experience!
I did. One time I was late because we were like a hour away and it was 17:30. our flight was at 18:10 to KL=Malaysia. we were running like cheetahs and we went crazy! But eventually we made it. LOve from Malaysia.

As we arrived at Istanbul airport, our flight to Munich was for about an hour in the air. That's how we got stranded in Istanbul. We stayed in the worst hotel in the world. The next morning at 1a.m we waked up to get the bus (1h) drive to the airport to get our flight to Munich. As we arrived we had seen that the flight had a 2h delay from the 2h delay we went to 7h delay. Then we had an aircraft change, were my family and I got mixed up at the entire airplane. We landed at munich airport. But the story doesn't end here. We went to the security check. Because of a bug in the police network we had to wait another hour to go through security just to find our that our language was damaged. We had to take it to the Airlines deskt to explain them what happend and then finally drove about 1h to our home. We had a total delay of about 30h and got no refunds!!! Never again Turkish Airlines!!!
if you don't make it to the departure gate on time, the airline won't have any obligation to offer you a refund or compensation. In fact, most airlines only offer refunds in cases where they are the ones who cancel the flight. However, some airlines may be more lenient than others. -Google D. Nerd

If your plane gets delayed, depending on how long, they owe you money, but you have to stay at the airport and tell them the same day it happens
