WHEN A BABY IS BORN - BAFAW CULTURE

When a baby is born, a friend/relative of the baby's mother makes the announcement to the village. She runs fro house to house, shouting, "Esinoh, Esinoy Esinoh eh". (
Rejoice, Rejoice, Rejoice with me"). At each door a resident will come out with a ladle of water and pour it on her head as she dances around. Others may join her as she goes from house to house. Well, in Houston, my brother here just had his first grand baby and I just got told. I HAD TO GET HIM WET. Unfortunately, we cannot go to the houses in the neighborhood.
