Thank you Edward for giving Lightin’ to us, and us to Lightin’. I hope he’s looking down on us and chuckling to himself at how he got a whole new fan base.
Awesome video thanks Edward. Millions and millions love rock and R & B music. These greats are the source of most modern pop music and deserve way more credit and fame!
Excellent work on the history of one of the greatest bluesmen to ever come along. I was just a freshman in high school when Lightnin passed away. I did not know of him tell a few years later after being inspired by the movie "Crossroads" 1986
That was fantastic Edward! I really enjoy the musical history & your presentation on these videos! Lightnin' was definitely an amazing blues artist! 👍👍🎸🎸
You're preaching to the converted with me and Sam Lightnin' Hopkins. Even the late John Peel (DJ) announced his death on his radio show all those years ago. Simply sublime.
Thanks for putting this up. I am a hugh Lightnin Hopkins fan. I am happy to have several CD's but no LP's they werent available when I discovered him in the late 80's. He heavily enfluenced my blues collection. Regards from Ody Slim
He could play some of the nastiest licks that would make the hair on your neck stand up. That’s what first turned me on to Lightnin. Later, I realized lyrically he was a great story teller. Near the top of my list of the greatest bluesmen of all time.
the Herald sides when he went electric for a sec were really good Had a gal called Sal.. And he went electric on Austin city limits, A lot more records than most .Respect true player Edward Phillips
Really well done 👍 Thanks for keeping the Blues alive. Lightnin’ always one of my favorites.

And the coolest looking guy in the blues, too.

So much history and artistry packed into a 7 minutes + vid!
Thanks! Blues 🤘🏽
I have Lightnin' Hopkins version of Green Onions on my playlist. The long banter before he actually plays the song is priceless.
Very interesting video. I have been a fan since 1963. Still have my first Lightnin L.P and many others.
Influence on me, for sure. Mr Phillips, you are one hell of a musician yourself. Thanks for posting this.
This was absolutely wonderful. Thanks Edward. Heading over to PP to tip ya.
