OMG, brilliant. I am from The Ed Sullivan era, and I am so impressed and proud of BTS. I haven't been so excited about music in along time. I have been following them for awhile and saw them in Chicago last weekend. I may be older, but I'm loving it.
Enjoy the who journey of discovering them. If you don't mind, I would suggest you watching Spring Day and seeing how it connects to the very unfortunate Sewol tragedy! I started respecting and truly stanning them after Spring Day( It is a slow ballad) ! Other songs you should definitely check out are Blood Sweat & Tears, Run, I Need You, Dope, N.O, Ddaeng, Outro Tear, Magic Shop, Answer Love Myself. Oh and the whole fictitious Bangtan Universe is super intriguing too! 💜
😘 it’s never too old to enjoy BTS! I have friends age between 40-65 who are Armies. Enjoy BTS, they exist for a reason... love ourselves, be happy & live life to the fullest. That’s wat BTS has been education us ☺️
I’ve heard a lot about them & after seeing their UN speech, it’s clear that these guys stand for a lot more than meets the eye & they’re continuously using their platform to make a difference. i like that. it’s nice to see Americans of all ages accept them & their music even though it’s not a European language. they’re changing the scene, that’s what every iconic artist should do.

I've been a fan for a month (better late than never :)), and this is their easiest choreography they've got. What made me their fan is their performance of Mic Drop on snl. The choreography is extremely hard and they sang live and sounded amazing. Honestly I've thought that would never be possible. Many artists lipsync while they are dancing, like Britney, and I'm not used to hearing live vocals in such performances. Kudos to them!

I (vaguely) remember seeing The Beatles on The Ed Sullivan Show in 1964. Classic. Now I'm watching a BTS tribute to those events - on UA-cam. A new classic. Totally lovin' BTS... and proud to be an ARMY.
Colbert show staffs really know how to do the work done. They didn’t mess up 1. the camera work 2. the interview by asking stupid questions 3. describing ARMYs by putting a guy fan in the middle of performance as opposed to calling ARMYs bunch of teenage girls. And last but not least, they seemed to have done the research and found out Singing In The Rain homage in the Boy in luv MV cause Beatles Analogy and this colorless BTS performance perfectly matched..💜💜💜 I am just saying..
so tru... i personally liked 3. that there was a guy fan in the middle coz as a fanboy myself, my friends insult me that i am gay and they dont wanna be in a crowd of bunch of girls and get insulted by other ppl like wth i dont care what ppl say, anyways i am not gay either
The way they pay homage to the Beatles says it all for itself. I mean for other boy bands no one has gone as far to recreate the exact stage, scenery, etc. just like the Beatles and if this doesn’t show how much BTS has made a cultural movement, transcended barriers, and made a big impact then I don’t know what to say
I watched the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show in the '60s when they first became famous!!! I was a young girl then and loved them. Seeing BTS performing with the same look with the black and white screen and black suits was really fun!!! BTS you are sooo talented, thank you! I'm a baby Army now! !!! I purple you! BTS forever...👏

You need to look up the definition of fan. It's a supporter. You weren't alive to support the group when they were a thing. If anything you're someone who likes the beatles. You're no fan.
As a Beatlemanaic, It's amazing to see another band who inspire and impact millions if not billions of lives. I'm not really a BTS fan but they are like The Beatles in their early times. The Beatles changed my life with their music, and cured my depression. BTS is doing the same thing today with my generation. These guys are already legends. I didn't expect that this show would give me the best performance of this song. I like this traditional version very much and BTS are so fit for it. They look elegant.

Whoever came up with this idea from the Late Show deserves a standing ovation. It was in so many layers symbolic, a mix of so many cultures and different generations, and the final picture was aesthetically so pleasing.
I watched them on SNL with my daughter (28) because she's a big fan. I'm hard of hearing so I really didn't pick up too much of the music, but it was the happiest I've seen my daughter in a long time. I think she was trying to play it cool and not look too excited in front of me, but I kept noticing her silently clap her hands throughout their performances. So even if I don't listen to them myself, they'll always bring me fond memories.
This comment is awesome. I totally get how your daughter was feeling. Even two years ago the idea that K-pop would get mainstream recognition in America, a country so traditionally resistant to foreign-language media in general let alone something Asian, seemed like a fantasy. For some reason, this made me very emotional. Unfortunately I haven’t been with BTS since their humble beginnings in 2013, but I found them when I needed them the most mid 2017, just before their massive global recognition. And I’m proud. So very proud of these seven young men who’ve changed the perspective not only on music but so many other things. They deserve everything good that’s coming to them. They’re humble, hardworking, kindhearted. And I will support them, always. 💜
same happened to me. I found them in late 2016, and their music came to me when I truly needed them. They gave me hope when my life was so messed up. I love them to pieces. Seeing them now, that they reached so much global popularity makes me so emotional and happy for them. They deserve everything.
I mean, I have been their fan since 2013 and in my opinion, it was very annoying how they were mistreated and looked down upon for leaving hip-hop, which they never did. If you're very easily depressed or if you're hurt easily then that time and era would not have been in your favour. There was no way that I could see them succeed back then and it made me angry af because their music really helped me. I hated their debut days and wished that they had never gone through that. But that's what made them into who they are and I am thankful they weren't from the big 3 and instead from bighit ent.

Whoever came up with the idea of replicating Beatles concept for this performance is a real genius. I will give a full credit to the staffs of the colbert show. It is really amazing to see how BTS syndrome is accepted as simular as that of Beatles. They look fantastic and the performance was superb~!!💜
It gets better, and I don't see anyone mentioning it: This was meant to replicate the Beatles' performance on the Ed Sullivan Show (with Stephen Colbert as Ed Sullivan) - and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert is actually taped in the very same Ed Sullivan Theater.
@@maxplanck1077 seriously? can you not read through lines? LoL you must have gotten F for a literature class or something. I said " syndrome". The crazy syndrome BTS has created to their fans is similar to that of Beatles. I am not talking about anything else. That is what they are talking about. Who else in this age make their fans camp out around their concert stadiums a week prior to their concert? Whoe else does that these days? No one but BTS makes fans do that. Camping out 1 week before the concert starts just to get the best viewing standing seats. That is a phenomenal, very rare to see these days. BTS has that impact on people. If someone had said something similar about a band I like, I would have said "sure, suit yourself". I wouldn't need to justify my music taste.

@@masterchief4766 actually no they're not, they are an idol group. While similar, they have different cultural implications. Not to mention that boybands are a western phenomenon and idol groups are almost exclusively eastern. No Kpop, cpop or jpop group I have ever heard of has actually referred to themselves as a boy or girl band (unless they are actually a band like CNBlue or Nightmare or Dir an Grey) and refer to themselves as an idol group. Although variations such as boy group, girl group and co-ed group are also common. However there is no denying that BTS fits into the "idol" culture and they debuted under the title of "idol group," despite originally supposed to be a hip hop group.

Its a video showing that in this generation we have another boyband that is shaking the world with their popularity and influence and in this element, they can be compared. They have very different music, but no one can deny bts’ popularity rn.
OMG, brilliant. I am from The Ed Sullivan era, and I am so impressed and proud of BTS. I haven't been so excited about music in along time. I have been following them for awhile and saw them in Chicago last weekend. I may be older, but I'm loving it.
We love each and every army equally :)

Ah I saw them on Saturday in chicago! I miss them so much🤩
Enjoy the who journey of discovering them.
That’s wat BTS has been education us ☺️
Ha! Soo good to see this! My daughters are huge BTS fans but so am I! We should start a 'Golden Army' group!
Thank you. Us crazy fans love them. So glad someone sees their true worth... And how important they are in the world today.

Check out their music if u feel like,u won't regret
I've been a fan for a month (better late than never :)), and this is their easiest choreography they've got. What made me their fan is their performance of Mic Drop on snl. The choreography is extremely hard and they sang live and sounded amazing. Honestly I've thought that would never be possible. Many artists lipsync while they are dancing, like Britney, and I'm not used to hearing live vocals in such performances.
Kudos to them!

Doug Crawford sure, Jan. Sure you were.😏
Colbert show staffs really know how to do the work done.
They didn’t mess up
1. the camera work
2. the interview by asking stupid questions
3. describing ARMYs by putting a guy fan in the middle of performance as opposed to calling ARMYs bunch of teenage girls.
And last but not least, they seemed to have done the research and found out Singing In The Rain homage in the Boy in luv MV cause Beatles Analogy and this colorless BTS performance perfectly matched..💜💜💜
I am just saying..
so tru...
i personally liked 3. that there was a guy fan in the middle

The way they pay homage to the Beatles says it all for itself. I watched the Beatles on Ed Sullivan as a young teen and BTS is the only group since the Beatles that has captured my undying loyalty. Their styles ARE different but their level of talent and universal appeal are quite similar. I’m just happy I found out about them and can enjoy their music. I turned my older sister into a fan too! We both wish them all the best - they deserve it!
There's something about this video and what it implies... it just... music that heals souls I tell you.
funny you should say that, since their company bighit's slogan is music and artists for healing
BTS Seoul heals the soul.
bluemyos it does. they also promote self love and self acceptance
I'm 68 years old, and these young men are so incredible, so talented and very humble, their advocacy in ending violence is so impressive, I am a follower and an avid fan of this group...love them to death...watched all their videos..🥰💖💖💖
I am 67 also.. just LOVE them.
Rubymira Gernhuber Yay BTS for all ages is just soooo lovely and amazing ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Me too.. be 68 on the 29th.. I love them too.
I love your open mind, bless your family 💜
Hi!! 56 here from New Jersey, USA and I adore these guys. They are so talented, humble, funny, clearly understand the importance of family in how they are basically brothers and take such good care of one another, they write incredible songs with such powerful meanings, hard workers, incredible dancers and each has their own unique and beautiful voice. I love all of them but there is something extra special about V’s soulful voice.
If I may....how many times do you watch a video or a live performance like this so you can truly appreciate what each one is bringing to the song in singing and dancing?? Once as a whole and then seven more to focus in on them individually??
Anyway, not feeling well tonight so I am three hours in to watching music videos, live performances and then some reaction videos.
Suggestions?? Thank you so much💜
Wow I am in awe of these seven fine men from South Korea.
As you should be
You should look up to their lyrics they talk about important topics ☺️
They really are the most special human beings you’ll ever discover. They are a blessing to everyone who crosses paths with them.
When the time comes, BTS will return to us like a spring day

Korean should be proud having them as one of their gem and treasure. If I see korean media do them sht, it's on sight
Rizka Savira - if you watch closely, the tide is beginning to turn in Korea. We just have to give them a little time to learn what a true gift they have. More and more of the citizens are beginning to recognize and appreciate their efforts. Soon it won’t matter what the media wants to do or say.
The way SKorea is corrupted..I hope they treat the boys very well
K-Armys are so grateful to have them in our country!💜💜💜💜
And I think K media finally know how big is BTS and I can see BTS news frequently thesedays.
May i ask why ppl think the Skorea media is corrupted?! I live in Seoul and BTS is HUGE here too. We have so many boy bands here so BTS was just one of them even 3-4 years ago. But now they’ve achieved so many things, which no kpop band has done before! Pls do not misunderstand, ppl respect BTS efforts!

Before BTS had no chance to appear on TV because they were from small company....and Korea has Big 3 Entertaintment company so BTS had hard time but these days many ppl know about them and there are so many Armys! Especially thesedays K media spotlighted their success abroad so Im happy to see their news on TV.
Just 6 years ago, bts was begging people on the streets to come to their concerts. After years of hard work and dedication, they're now known internationally and are even being compared to the Beatles. They did it. They really did it 💜

Actually they are the ones who write most of their songs and produce too, of course they have help, but mainly in writing the lyrics it’s most them, like 80, 90% of the album. They always write about what they want or what they are living to help people.

The black and white added some type of flavor, idk how to explain it. Either way, an amazing performance from BTS as expected.
1964s flavor when The Beatles landed on our shores.
This looks like a tribute to The Beatles.

Right when I found them ... In mid 2017 just before their massive global recognition 🔥
our encounter of the boys was around the same.I also found them when I needed them the most and will be forever for BTS. I purple you.
Chemi I’ve heard so many stories about how people found them in their darkest days, like a ray of light guiding them out of the complete darkness. How incredible is that? I purple you!
I don´t know who to stare at. All of them dance so nice and synchronized.
I replay & replay at 1:00 to watch each one of them 😃
I just want people to understand how huge this is. They're Asian. They're not white, they don't sing in English... yet they're achieving all these things.
Oh, come on. You're comparing BTS with _The Beatles_ . Seriously.
Max Planck they’re comparing the impact. bts has broken multiple records previously held by the beatles.
Btw, FYI BTS has gotten no.1 on billboard 200 chart 3 times in a row within 11 months. BTS is the only artist who has that record after Beatles. It is a FACT. DEAL WITH IT!😊
@@koyukiny First of all, I always had straight A's in literature class.
Secondly, I still stand by my judgement, if I had lived in the 60's, I would have waited a whole month to attend a Beatles' concert.
Thirdly, BTS fans are hella defensive. If someone had said something similar about a band I like, I would have said "sure, suit yourself". I wouldn't need to justify my music taste.
as a big fan of beatles and bts, i’m the happiest now

Thank you so much for calling them a "group" instead of a "boy band" and thank you for respecting them and actually researching them before they appeared on the show.
but they are actually a boy band?
@@masterchief4766 they are a boy group.... Not boyband, they don't play instruments on stage... Their focus is singing/rapping and dancing

BabyEater9000 Thank you for the compliment! The amount of work they put into their stuff is insane, and they have been doing it for 6 years now.
