So many amazing things about reselling, I love being able to find new homes for things that would go to the landfill. I had a woman who was thrilled to find a replacement for her favorite pair of shoes that she couldn’t find anywhere else! I’ve worked retail so many years before staying home with my kids, so this really appealed to me, I love the positive feedback from customers, I love making their day! I also love finding cool items and selling my own things for extra money while staying home homeschooling the kids. I love packing the sales, hopefully they get better soon, mine have been slow!
great sales like always. I personally don’t even try to sell high end nothing. especially when I don’t know if the item is not real. But u can only decide to do what’s best for you.
I am 99% sure it’s real. I had it authenticated by someone who knows but isn’t an actual authenticator, if that makes sense. But even then, it’s still a little stressful.
I often think when ppl low ball they’re quite possibly resellers as well. It happens to me on the auction venue. I hold out. Not greedy. Just doing my “job”. As far as your question of the evening… obviously I love to make $$ from home. It’s great to clean out & sell what’s unused but also to buy low & sell higher sometimes very high. Which is a motivator to sell more. I’ve been digging in closets & the basement for “stuff” and it’s selling!! Christmas blessings for gifts!! I’m on a seller high right now. Not one cashmere sweater but a used vintage? CC sweatshirt that’s getting crazy!! Makes me smile!🎉😮😊
I can't believe you found Channel ! Wow. I's go back to the same bins. I love watching their runway shows on youtube. I'd keep the pieces or up them a few hundred dollars or at least asking price. Woww how lucky! Saw Mercari can import from poshmark I am going to do that, only $75 or less this month but three small sales today my free trial of software expired it wont help too much
I’d say don’t accept the offer, you know the worth! I looked at your Poshmark and they are gorgeous! I’d wait or counter, you could definitely get more, the right buyer is out there!
Hey Jenn. Great video. Thank you for sharing. How do you actually do flat rate shipping? Do you just use flat rate boxes? I'm just learning. My favorite thing about reselling is actually having a sale lol. My favorite content is learning about the clothing you sell. Brands etc. Thanks, Jeanna
Thanks for watching! Flat rate shipping on eBay just means there is a certain cost set by the seller for each item. So, for instance, I might do a flat rate of $9 shipping for all my jeans since I know I can put them in a flat rate envelope for a little over $8. Or I might have a flat rate for anything under 8 ounces because I can usually put those items in a small polymailer and ship for around $5. I hope that makes sense.
My customers pay in shipping exactly what I pay. There is a way to change your shipping preferences to give the customer the same discount eBay gives you. If I pay $6.45, they pay $6.45. It was nice to pocket that extra difference in the past but I will tell you my sales and reviews have been extra good since I made the change 😊
I think about that too, but you still have shipping supply costs and the fees that eBay charges on the shipping. So in that regard, you lose money with every sale. (I’m using the general you, not trying to point that to YOU)
You can always start listing new items with flat rate shipping without having to go back and edit all your old items. That might make it seem like less big of an undertaking!
PS...don't cabe kn the Channel. The suit story makes it seem like you should but if it is nicer than most solds, I would maybe counter with a decent % but I wouldn't acce0t thay offer. But I promise we will still be friends if you do!! Appreciate you and all that you do, even letting the kiddo scooter in the garage while you video. I so respect that you leave the real life stuff in!!
As a buyer, I typically expect the seller to counter so I will make an offer lower than my budget to allow for the seller to make an offer back and hopefully still be able to afford it. Maybe make a counter offer back at you typical 20 or even 30% and see if they take it? Definitely don’t undervalue your items or time!
The high shipping costs are most likely coming from the package dimensions you are using. Especially if you are leaving them at the eBay default. Do you know that when shipping in a poly mailer you can always enter the height as 1”? Cubic shipping is calculated using the dimensions when the mailer is empty, ie a 13 x 10 mailer ships as 13 x 10 x 1. If you enter the dimensions like this in your listing the shipping is generally very close to what you will pay or maybe $1 under. It sometimes is more but that is pretty rare.
A couple of thoughts on the sweater- 1- you’re not being greedy by holding out for market value. 2- if you sell it for $300, you drop the value for all others and affect the overall market. 3- if it isn’t taking up much space, and you don’t need that $2 back, 😂, wait it out. I’m a consistency watcher of your videos and regular commenter. Please hear this in love. 6 is old enough to let you film for a few mins. I have a bunch of kids and grandkids so interruptions are my life, hahaha, but I have boundaries also and if I was on a business call, that wouldn’t work. And you kind of are on a business call, with us! It’s your channel and you need to do what’s best for you. Just some thoughts! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
@@JenntheReSeller No not really. I just watch the shipping labels will closely. I do not the large closets as others, but if I get busy and list as I am supposed to be doing i would. When my husband died my therapy is and was to go thrifting just to be among people as I am all alone. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours even I am thankful this year for Gift of Love from God he gave us his Son.
Honestly Jenn, I probably would hang on to it, simply because I know its worth. However, if I needed the money/quick sell, I would at least try a counteroffer. I don't think you're being greedy. I have a few pair of expensive sneakers that were my brother's. He wore them like 1-3 times each and decided they weren't what he wanted. I know their worth, even being "EUC". I keep getting lowball offers and I refuse. In some cases, I just won't budge on things that even comp way higher than what I even have listed. So no....the right buyer will eventually come along that values the item as much as you do. 💜
I would not accept $300. I would counter maybe $700 if you have it listed at 900. Totally respect whatever you decide though. And Peter Millar on Depop what! I never would have thought.
wow, that’s a tough call whether to keep holding onto it or just sell for $300 which does seem a little low! Just be careful because I MNAFB group where people tell about these high dollar items they sell, and people scamming them saying that the item was damaged, sometimes it’s because they had the same item that was damaged and so they’re trying to get it replaced for free or people who have buyers remorse and just will damage those expensive items so they can send them back which I hope does not happen to you probably a small chance of that but I think since you don’t have a lot into it, I would hold out for at least $600 per piece!!!
I’ve seen other resellers say not to list high end designer brands on depop because sellers have been getting their accounts shut down. Have you heard this? I was watching a video from Frizzys Finds talking about how depop banned them. I just started a depop account, I have 3 listings on there so far lol 😂
I no longer source Clarks, Sperry, certain Coach bag and wallet styles, True Religion jeans and Miss Me jeans. The reseller market is over saturated with these brands and the long period of time it takes to sell them isn't worth my time or space. I also stopped buying bulky coats because of the amount of space they take up.
As for as the Chanel, it would really depend on my mood, sometimes I’m like eh I don’t really care, I’d rather have $300 now than $900 in 1-3 years but other times I’m like, absolutely not that’s worth so much more! I think that I would really prefer if it were me for it to go through the authentication process which I believe is $500 and up, just to protect me from them claiming they didn’t actually receive the Chanel sweater pictured. I do completely realize that my mood is not a good business practice, but I’m human. I’ve structured my shipping pricing to be $4.99-under 8oz, $6.99-under 16 oz, $8.99-under 2lb $9.99 heavy sweaters and heavy jeans, bibs, shoes, etc. 12.99 heavy coats, boots, etc. I’m in WPA I based all my shipping on how much it would be to ship to Alaska(based off the eBay shipping calculator.) I have not had to pay anything out-of-pocket on anything for the shipping. I generally make a dollar or so on shipping. Occasionally I just break even but it is so extremely rare that it really doesn’t bother me that I’m paying fees on that shipping. I do occasionally use the priority padded flat rate to get the shipping cost down on heavy pieces down. I do adjust up for really bulky items. I personally can’t bring myself to buy items with high shipping, so I think it might make a difference in your sales.
Oh don’t be sorry! That was super helpful! I have similar thoughts with the Chanel. And I also base some of my business practices on my mood, so I get that. I just talked about that on today’s video. It’s all a learning curve. Thanks so much for your thoughts!
I would keep the Channel for close to asking price or close. Wow ! You'll get offers all the time Indon't think that is your one and only. Wow more sales on Depop my Poshmark makes $50 or less for first three months not enough sales !! Maybe I will try software to crosslist
Have you went into you business policies under your name on left side to check how your shipping is set up. I would if you’re continuing to question your shipping. Surely not telling you what to do. Just a thought…😊
Hey, if you sell the Chanel item for that cheap, it might not get authenticated. People always try to claim stuff isn't real. Posh always tells people to destroy the item instead of returning it. At least if it's over $500, it goes to the authentication team at Posh HQ. It's the holiday season, so scammers are out in full force. I'd be careful, especially since it's a vintage item. But if you wait for a buyer who's willing to pay more, you'll make a bigger profit. Just sayin'. That piece will definitely sell eventually.
