Hunk wasn't a character I was expecting to be made at any point soon and Tabs comes out of nowhere with a return to form! Hunk is relatively simple, only having three damaging specials, one of which is a command grab but his moveset is brought together by the ability to dash and hop cancel using his atk+S, Dance Macabre. He can be played very basic, but has a deceptive execution ceiling and is rewarded greatly for it. I'm loving playing this character already. I'm still working on my...project and have made a good amount of progress with it, however my interest in labbing has been brought back so I'll try to do more frequent videos again. Enjoy!
Thanks! Tabs told me on day 1 he thought it might be possible, I had only tried it for a bit but RayRay was the first I saw execute it using record, then I wanted to see if I could do it manually

Thanks my guy, hope your move goes well. I've got a few more ideas for combo routes myself but they'll require specific interactions with the grenade connecting and late shots etc. Hunk's depth is interesting, I look forward to seeing what you find!
It's funny. I remember the gun archetype in UMVC3 was starting to get some hate like Fire Emblem in Smash. Now modders have added at least four more of these characters.
"Why do people want Leon? He's just another gun fighter!" As much as I like a spread out roster like Tatsunoko vs Capcom to be the ideal, people are definitely overlooking the practicality of the more simple "clones" which wouldn't be easy to replace with another character - not all slots are equal. They are also overlooking the depth in differences in how swords and guns work in these games - plus how they satisfy fans for popular characters.
It was mainly because at the time fast projectile keepaway was a strong meta to contend with. And the last thing anyone wanted was more of THAT. Though with all of these unique gun characters with different playstyles, it's more creative than just pasting an Injustice Level keepaway moveset and calling it a day.
hey im having a bit of trouble with the first combo shown, i get to where the first otg is but dont have enough time to do both the grenade prep and gun. am i supposed to be delaying something?
Appreciate it dude! Yes, the first time you do qcb.L/M/H (strength doesn't matter) it primes the grenade and stores it as an install, which you can see by the red flash near Hunk's hip, then when you do qcb.atk again, the strength determines the arc of the grenade throw
@@glass4624 oh snap that sounds sick. I know some people scream, "another gun character", but I think it's cool to see just how different they can be. His grenades kinda remind me of Sonyas demolition variation from MKX. I think his moveset is perfect for his style. Love his animations on his normals too. Also are some of his ground normals jump cancellable? I keep seem that loop on the ground to air. Haven't got a chance to play him yet but I can't wait.
@@gamenlift1726 they're kind of jump cancellable, his atk+S with no direction is the hop and he can cancel specials in to it too, if you hold forward or back he dashes in that direction

I felt the same way, I liked Hunk before but never thought about him in this game, and now he's one of my favourite swaps
I debatably think Hunk could hold his own in a death battle against Wesker and any other bioweapon

I know right?! Hunk has such an oddly good design. Tabs did deliberate between the TMP and AK, but chose the AK as Jill and Chris already use an SMG.
