- Smoke compartments similar to exits, have there own travel distance requirements. Not only in healthcare do we have to travel to exit it we also have a requirement to travel to a smoke compartment door/wall. Even if for standing at the exit door we can see daylight, we still have to be able to travel lesson 200 feet to a smoke compartment door without having to go outside.
Great video :)
these are the most excellent informative videos. I have not heard much about "smoke compartments". do they go by any other names?
Also is a horizontal exit the same thing as an "exit passageway"?
I found your descriptions really easy to understand. What is helpful to me is if you say for examp "a smoke compartment is the same as __________, except that in a smoke compart. you also have this"
I think you did that when explaining a smoke corridor and that was super helpful.
Thanks!
thank you so much first for all the nice comments
Smoke compartments are primarily in hospitals and or healthcare it's all about defend in place the last thing we want to do is remove the patient from the building so there's additional bells and whistles because of that
Horizontal exit and exit passageway they are absolutely two different things, architects confuse a horizontal exit as an exit passageway all the time.. Horizontal exits are very complicated little beast I should have several videos out there helping describe what a horizontal exit is and how to take advantage of it it's only good/advantage is when you have a very large building
I haven't produced one in about two years I really should get back into it, life is really crazy right now for me a lot going on even outside of the pandemic.
