you typically don't have to anyway which is the odd thing, everyone runs on the Rockies despite them being one of the worst teams offensively in the league but one of the better outfield defensive units as well.

I thought the rangers had rifles jones and Doyle are amazing. Not much goes right for the Rockies at least those two are doing well

As a HUGE Astros fan, I couldn’t do anything but feel bad for him and laugh a little, he had no reason to slow down

My takeaway is that the Rockies were not good at winning games...but they were very good at outfield assists.

Johan Rojas' out at 1st base should be on here. It was his 1st game in his career, and he caught the ball, ran into the fence, and then threw him out. Outstanding play.
The fact that Soto and the Padres tried to get an obstructing the plate call on that Doyle assist when Soto was clearly out by 20 feet and the throw took Diaz there is hilarious. Don’t run on Brenton Doyle.
Sometimes it works. The year that the malicious contact rule was introduced, a runner who had stopped and surrendered was ruled safe because the catcher "obstructed" him while making the tag.

Once Nolan Jones improves his range in the OF, he will become a true 5-tool player. I absolutely love watching him play.
A couple lessons from this video:
1. The Rockies' OF shows a lot of promise defensively, even if the rest of their team is awful.
2. A lot of OF assists are the consequence of poor base running decisions by the runner and/or 3B coach.
Rockies have always had incredible defense. Their infield has a lot of skill too this year. McMahon and Tovar were gold-glove caliber
Their problems this year were mainly pitching and some offense. They lost their 2 best starting pitchers for Tommy John, and the rest of their starters under performed. The bullpen was good initially but got so overworked by the sheer amount of innings they were used.

Use your awareness. The throws are getting harder and harder throughout the video. It's clearly not the best outfield assists but the hardest thrown outifield assists. Nick Castellanos has one of the worst arm strength of any RF in baseball, he was never going to make this list because title is misleading, he can't throw upper 90's.

I'm not sure if it's the fact that the camera is cutting mid throw or what, but a lot of these don't look like rockets. I didn't see any that looked explosive or violent out of the hand.
the stanton one shouldnt even count. That wasn't an assist, that was a mercy kill.
I wish I could see what the 3rd base coach was calling for on all of these plays.

This is why I love baseball. So much more fun than home run derby. As an Astros fan, I assure you that Dubon has by far the strongest outfield arm on the team, and deserves to be a starting outfielder next year.

A third of the way through this video not even and it's pretty obvious this isn't the best outfield assists, just the hardest thrown ones. Just because it was thrown very hard doesn't inherently make it one of the best plays.
