Insights and Commentary on John

The use of the words “he” and “him” are explained as personification of God’s powerful words, drawing from themes from the Jewish writings of the time regarding God’s wisdom. Ultimately, these were embodied in Jesus who came to his own (the Jews). John is actually drawing upon the Jewish traditions to explain the significance and ministry of Jesus.
