Jenkinson Lake, Sly Park

  • At the request of SippyCupAdventures, I drove down to Sly Park for a drone flight over Jenkinson Lake. But when I got my drone out to fly it from the day use area, I was informed that this is a no fly area, and to put my drone back in the car. So I left the park and hiked in from Mormon Emigrant Trail to launch from, since the FAA has control above the ground or water surface and flew over the lake at an altitude of 390 feet above the lake.

I am so jealous of the free/open airspace you have to film in!

Well, come on up to the Sierra Foothills. We've got lots of transplants from the Bay Area.

EPIC! Thanks for this. I read that you had to hike in (because of a no-fly zone) apparently. You found the waterfall! We haven't been to the waterfall, because we don't hike 😅We have just used the first day-use area you come upon. The water levels are good! And this is so helpful because we may visit before the Summer is over, so, knowing the water levels are helpful! 🥤

@@SippyCupAdventures thanks Darin. If you can walk half a mile on level ground, you could hike along the shore to the waterfall. It’s a very easy, scenic walk, and a beautiful waterfall. It’s also a beautiful drive to the parking lot at the end of the Lake Narrows, where the waterfall trail starts. Thank you for suggesting this. I had a wonderful day there. Let me know if you have anymore suggestions.

@@gama45 Yeah, we're aware its more of a walk, than a hike. Glad you followed up on my suggestion! I am really pleased you enjoyed. I shared a link in one of your previous videos (Rollins, I think) of one of our videos, 5 Lakes in the Sacramento region. (It's our best video, ever) but, I think you have covered them all but New Bullards Bar and Folsom Lake.

@@gama45 Yeah, my video starts off with Bullards Bar and where you should go to film. As for Folsom Lake, I consider myself an "expert" at that lake lol! I can come out and meet ya if you visit Folsom Lake! Cheers 🥤

@@SippyCupAdventures Sounds like a plan Darin. I'll let you know when I'm heading to Folsom. BTW, I did do a video of a hike along Folsom Lake from Rattlesnake Bar, but I need to fly over more of the lake. I enjoy just sitting and enjoying the view at these day use areas, but I love nature and hiking , but, as you said, to each his or her own.
