    the comparison with Robertson was an excellent point. Talent alone cannot make an elite professional, it’s about hard work, determination and attitude!

      takes good coaching to spot it and maybe a step change in footballing attitudes when we allow the World's Best full back at one time slip through our fingers

      Talent alone cannot make an elite professional ??
      Eden Hazard , Maradona , Paulo Futre , Romario , Tevez ?? These are only "SOME" of the players that are "LAZY" but talented.
      The right statement should be : In football if you are talentless , doesn't matter how hard you work/train , you will never reach the level of people who had talent.
      To be proffesional , hard work is a must for talentless people. But that doesn't mean that you are absolutely will be better than people with talent.
      This is reality , don't be delusional.

      @@aystz18Eden Hazard's last good game was in UEL Final 2019. after that he turned into Fat Lard. He was one of Real Madrid's worst transfers in the new era. Real Madrid were winning trophies with or without him. He was simply there just to eat junk food, take a s**t and get injured. He spent more time injured than playing football during his Real Madrid days. He was released at 32 years old and no other club wanted him, not even clubs in Qatar and Saudi, so he retired. I can understand you calling Hazard robbing money off Real Madrid without doing anything worth remembering as a success. Definitely poor man mindset.

    Celtic looked after him too well as a kid, he had no struggles, only got the best and everything was done for him, he got far too big headed and thought he was bigger than the club so went to Chelsea, while at Chelsea he did well but as soon as he went down a level on loan and had to actually apply himself and put the work in it all fell apart over and over again.

      This all goes much deeper. Islam clearly had mentality issues and obviously was the type who needed the fortune of an exact type of handling to flourish. Seems he had that at Celtic and Chelsea but lacked emotional control. Hence the spats, impatience and impulsive (and erratic life decisions as a result). A TOTAL shame given he was clearly a pure footballing talent but needed therapy, frankly

    A lot of the blame needs to go the parents and agent and also on modern football and their greed. The big clubs back in the days of having 56 first team members, they would swallow up any promising talent so nobody else can get them. The same almost happened to Odegaard, luckily he got himself out of it, appears at 15 in Norway snapped up by Real Madrid. Apart from financial regulation now we also need regulation on development years and more regulation on squad sizes. Is Doak going to end up in the same frustrating situation as Odegaard?

    Andy Robertson is the perfect player comparison for anyone through this era... when everyone is focused on headlines and price tags... how underwhelming is the headline ; Liverpool pay 8 million to releagted side Hull City... how miraculous is it he is consistently one of the highest for assists per year, highest clean sheets, highest successful tackles, forward passes, retreiving the ball after his team loses possesion, etc etc, the stats and numbers that actually matter, Robertson is always high on the list every year... you could add more details to that, about the amount of injuries he has had during that time, about the amount of games played some years, like when Liverpool had to qualify for the champions league and 18 months later were playing in the community shield and super cup after winning the competition, i think it was something like 63 games that year.. a leader for his national team, a leader on and off the pitch at Liverpool... mentality monster, when Klopp said this team are animals, it was because he seen Roberston in the corner of his eye 😉

    Had he stayed at Celtic, would he have ever made it? Celtic refuse to give youth players a proper chance. Look at Dembele more recently, among many many examples. It's hard to reject a move to Chelsea (who were at the time one of the best teams in the world). However, his attitude was horrendous. But, can we judge him? He had an extremely tough start to life and then had years of praise and money thrown at him at a very young age. It's overall, a sad story, and who knows what could have been. But, maybe it was all hype. Cherno Samba, Freddy Adu etc.

      @@suffern63 The club loaning the player generally pay a percentage of his wages, so that reduces the wage bill of the parent club. Also. if they loan 5 of them out and 1 succeeds, they'll make profit even if they receive a few million. Chelsea have been criticised a lot for their spending, but year on year, they also make a lot of money from player sales. Maatsen and Hall two excellent cases in point.

      @@recruitmentch Thank you,I did know that but if you want to make money then the best way is to loan the player to clubs where the player will develop,has a chance to develop and you get more in the future.Sending the player with a problem of immaturity to Russia made no sense.

    • @recruitmentch
      @recruitmentch 27 днів тому +1

      @@suffern63 I think that's where the problem lies. No one ever truly knows if the club you loan a player to will be the right one or wrong one. Also. There are so many permutations at play that us normal fans are completely oblivious to. Who is getting paid what, who is getting commission, who are the middlemen etc etc. Chelsea could've loaned him to a Russian club for the simple reason of keeping him well away from the pressures of 'european' media. A little easier for a Chelsea oriented journalist to go and see how a player is doing in Belgium than in Russia. Probably felt that he wouldn't be under the same level of pressure etc. who really knows.

      Yeah, Billy Gilmour certainly showed up those inept players he came up against with his world class displays in the Euro's. I watch him expecting to see what the Scots go on about, but he is as Cantona describes a water carrier. Predominantly passing sideways and backwards not going past anyone and putting in the odd tackle, he is not a creative genius. However, I suppose when you compare him to the rest of the squad he is still the best of a very average bunch.
