- Here The Magic Band (Gary Lucas, John French, Denny Walley, Mark Boston, and Michael Traylor) rip into a classic number from Captain Beefheart and the Magic Band's "Clear Spot" album live on national Swedish TV 4's breakfast show during a Swedish tour in May 2006.
Only in Sweden would they show this on a breakfast show. Good for them!

John French was an integral part of Beefheart's music & definitely didn't get the praise or credit he deserved. Had every right to be pissed with Beefheart but kept quiet & just carried on.

Wow! In my humble opinion this is one of the best Beefheart songs, and Imust say that this version is trully outstanding! Didn´t know John French had such a terriffic voice. Going straight to my favourites.

@hammondjazz It is the Magic Band and John French arranged most of these songs for the Captain.
John didn't arrange them. He just transcribed all the parts for the musicians, which is still a feat unto itself.
There needs to be a tribute show/tour in honor of the Captain to celebrate his music. Maybe there could be a few other magic band members to contribute as well. Similar to a Concert for George.

amaizing stuff - that hits the switch in me that rarely get's hit - especially Steal Softly thru Snow - will The Magic Band be touring the UK again ever i wonder??
Extremely impressive. Mind-blowing, actually. I hate to nitpick, though, but the guitar player doesn't follow the original at all in the long pause that comes back with "Little girl, don't you know..." To me that is the climax of the song.
