    Thanks for the great video.
    We are also having the same issue on our 2010 ford edge.
    We also replaced the speed sensor and the issue continued remained we also checked the ring tone which was also still good. So we ordered the BlueDriver to diagnose the problem and we took it for a drive and got the code saying it was the steering Angle sensor. So we've picked the part up and are going to replace it either today or tomorrow depending on weather. Fingers crossed it goes as smoothly as yours video look. Thanks again.

      Thanks Walter! It’s pretty straight forward once people can get their mind around how the system works. I made a video to this extent to help provide people a shortcut to the learning process here:

    Excellent video, I had same symptoms. I have my own scanner and it said steering angle sensor. Replace it in less than a half hour. After unplugging the battery. But yes thanks. Great video. Fixed the problem.

    I bought an 07 edge from iron planet. Same symptoms, replaced speed sensors, and cv's (think it's bs they don't sell just the tone ring.) Still have the same problem. Just clicked that I overlooked the steering wheel position sensor. Wheel thinks it's going straight, so both front wheels should be going the same speed. When actually in a left turn, your right tire is spinning faster than the left. Kicks in traction control.

    Nice video! Should you put a new steering wheel bolt while reinstalling?

    very good demo on this and great explantion, how did you recalibrate the sensor?

    • @buckn32
      @buckn32  7 років тому

      Weiss Wolfgang on the 07 I didn't have to recalibrate. Maybe it's because I was diligent not to spin it after removing the clip, or perhaps the 07s computer isn't as advanced as newer Fords. I've learned elsewhere that is necessary and how to do it on the new Edges. But we have literally drove it 5k mikes with no issues since this video 👍

      Missy Montana no it actually works across quite a few of the Ford models from this era! It works for later edges as well but it may necessitate a reset of the steering system.

    Would the stability light go off and on I also am having this issue my Ford Edge will brake on me or lag when I’m stopped and then take off

    • @buckn32
      @buckn32  7 років тому

      Albert Pena does that happen when you are turning slowly or only when you take off from a stop? Yes our light would go on as the ABS would engage after I was straightening out the steering wheel... it is like the steering sensor wasn't picking up I was straightening the wheels out and that didn't match the data the wheel speed sensors were providing the cars computer.

    • @buckn32
      @buckn32  7 років тому

      Albert Pena did that help at all?

    My Ford Fusion power steering went out and I got the code C1277 since my car has Electronic Power Steering I wonder If i have to replace the steering angle sensor for it to work again.

    • @buckn32
      @buckn32  6 років тому

      Baphomet 666 it depends what year was your fusion manufactured? ... it depends on where this sensor is located.

    • @buckn32
      @buckn32  6 років тому

      Baphomet 666 I would be worried if your fusion is a 2011 because Ford had all sorts of issues in that year because they went to an electronic steering system that involved the steering wheel positioning sensor actually being built INTO the rack and pinion. It wasn’t just fusions that have this issue but F150 pickups as well. The lame part is that the whole rack and pinion needs replaced which is way more labor intensive and a way costlier part. So if your fusion is 2010 or before you may be alright and get off with just replacing a $100 part and 30 minute task. If it’s 2011 or after you have a $1000+ part and at least half a day of labor wrapped into it.

    • @m4bolicious
      @m4bolicious 6 років тому

      Buck Newby Damn well I cant spent that much money into that car since it’s reached 187k miles now. I wonder if my 2015 F150 also has an Electronic steering assist. 🤔

    • @buckn32
      @buckn32  6 років тому

      Baphomet 666 so I take it that you have a 2011?

    does it affect the cruise control ?

    • @buckn32
      @buckn32  6 років тому

      It should not affect cruise control since it usually happens when making a slower turn where the steering wheel does a full rotation.

  • @erbonetti

    Did you run codes, or get the codes from ford? Pretty sure my coworker is having the same problem on his 2010 Edge, and the codes I ran were B2290, C1278, and C1963

    • @buckn32
      @buckn32  7 років тому

      erbonetti Ford ran the codes for me. I took it in for the diagnosis knowing I'd pay $150 but replace the correct parts the first time.
      Easy enough job for a DIY'er to replace the sensor if that is what is wrong with your coworker's Edge.

    • @buckn32
      @buckn32  7 років тому

      DevDiaz90 lit Is it $700 for diagnosis and then to replace the steering angle sensor? The sensor is $200 roughly and diagnosis should be $150. $350 for labor on this job seems quite steep.

      @@buckn32 thanks for the video! The dealer just tried to get me into replacing my axle as well.

    • @buckn32
      @buckn32  6 років тому +1

      Sh Hu well it’s tough, the advanced diagnostic tools they have at the dealership can actually isolate whether it was a tone ring/speed sensor on a particular axle or the steering angle positioning sensor. Both of these parts of the traction system work together and so it’s hard to isolate whether it’s a cracked tone ring on one of the axles, a bad speed sensor, or the positioning sensor. I’ll link a video that explains it a little better.
