I’m 18 and I almost daily drive my grandpas old beat up 1961 GMC pickup truck. It’s the most fun I have driving something other than a manual transmission.
In 1977 I went to my girlfriend's house and saw a 1971 yellow/ green Datsun 240 Z in the driveway, stored by her brother who's friend went overseas. That was the exact minute I fell in love with sports cars. I studied it everyday. Months later I bought a 4 year old White 240Z with red interior at the age of 20 years old. It was the love of my life! The sound of that straight six was intoxicating. I think I polished it every other week. I'd give anything to have that car back!
I've been commenting many times to you and tedward that I would love to see either of you guys get in the seat on one of these cars, happy that it finally happened but definitely one of your shortest drives. Hopefully you can get behind the wheel of one again and give us more insight on how you feel about the car in detail.
Such an iconic car! My friend down the street from me growing up had a 1976 Toyota Celica in the family that we used to sit in and pretend to drive. The Datsun’s interior and steering wheel reminded me so much of it. Very cool flashback to a time I don’t often think of. Awesome video!
i wish one day i will be able to buy this beautiful car! From the first time i saw a picture of it ,it just blew my mind! This is the first video i see of someone driving this car,it makes me so happy
My dream is to drive a lot of different cars like what you do on your channel. Watching your videos feels like i was there in the car too. Thankyou. Please upload more videos.
I'm so excited to finally see a video of you driving one of these beasts! I picked up an L28 swapped 260Z with my dad after graduating college a few years back and it's been a blast to restore and drive. Even took it to some autocross events. Like most of these cars, my clock also doesn't work lol.
@@povertyspec9651 true they didn't take over, but Renault own 43% and they have a say in how the brand operates and they have jointly developed components.
I totally agree with you and @WESTNILESDAFEVER both. To be fair, the safety regulations that today's designers face are far, far more restrictive. Those regulations were already starting to change quite a bit back in the 70's and you could see the impact of these changes simply by comparing the 240Z and the later 280Z (the 280Z's bumpers were fairly atrocious by comparison).
Always liked that dark green color. A friend of mine bought a 1972 in that shade while he was at the Naval Academy and it was the first Z I every drove. I later got one in the deep brown, but If I circled back now for one I'd try to get that BRG.
I had to wait until 1981 to have buy my first "280ZX". It was a little diffferent than the 'Z" but it was still fun to drive. I wished I still have it.
I really enjoy your drives and commentary (your nd mx5 videos made me get one). Your friend doesn't add nearly as much to the video as you do when you're on your own as it feels like he is trying to 'sell' it to me. The car speaks for its own to be honest!
My dad and I are gonna be getting a 240/260/280z as a project car this year. We may or may not be keeping the L series in it and we might JZ swap it for a little fun. This is both my dad and I’s dream car and I can’t wait until we bring home such a special car
Girlfriend in Arkansas her father gave her a 260 Z. It was a joy to drive, but the fuel line was too close to the exhaust manifold and after 10 minutes, you would have serious vapor lock issues.
"...Your not going to win any races..." - I disagree! The Datsun 240/260 & 280z took the national track championships and drove Shelby, Corvette, and other European contestants into alternative race tracks. Datsun won for a decade under Peter Brock & John Mortons racing skills!
That looks like a 1970 Z. The console is wrong though. It's at least a 1972 or later console. The steering wheel looks like a 1970, possibly early 1971 model year. Need to see build date.
Really cool car/video, honestly a shame the guy selling it talks so much. I'd prefer if it was just Topher driving it alone and saying that it's for sale. This guy is really trying to drive home the fact that "this car is amazing, so pay a lot for it". Seems all business with this guy. Not in the market for a car like this, but if I was, his sales pitch would be a huge turnoff.
fun drive...but this guy talks waaaay too much. I just want to hear the machine and hear your thoughts on its capabilities. Missed an opportunity to see it on the highway and maybe on a track
I'm so happy to see cars like this still running. All young car enthusiasts should drive cars of this vintage at least once. Cheers!
Cool and all but can’t blame them. There are a lot of cooler cars out now that interest them
I’d love too but just so damn expensive to restore and maintain.

I would if the goddamn older people didn't hog all the money.
we're being priced out of them at the moment car community is filled with degenerate hoarders and flippers now.

It's interesting to see that the 350/370Z carried over some of its interior design language (i.e. the gauges).
If I'm not mistaken, the Z32 (90's-era 300ZX) was the only Z generation that didn't include center stack gauges in some form.
@@MrBluGruv I wasn't aware of that. Thanks.
I agree! Heritage wise, It feels like only camaros, 911's, and fairlady's have stayed true to their original designs to this day
Seeing that 240Z warms the heart!
ahhh the S30 Z, perhaps the most legendary car ever born from the land of the rising sun.
The car that changed my life forever. Love seeing these on the road
Man, I wish I had bought one before they became collector cars. I'm glad people are preserving and valuing them though.

These older car videos are some of your best. 👍
Awesome vehicle, over 52 years old.
Wow--and british racing green too--simply beautiful.
The way the light dances off the paint is remarkable! What a beautiful automobile!
Truly a thing of beauty!
What a stunning example. This was my dream poster car followed by the 260z etc. Beautiful.
"1971, safety regulations were different" - a big part of why the 240Z is so much better looking than anything made today.
i wish one day i will be able to buy this beautiful car! From the first time i saw a picture of it ,it just blew my mind! This is the first video i see of someone driving this car,it makes me so happy
I always said Topher gonna make a benz outta that datsun.
That would be so much fun to drive
could not believe it when i saw this video was uploaded. awesome.
What a beautiful condition car
My fav automobile of all time!!
That was a pleasure to view. That car's beauty stand the test of time.
Wow what a classic

I also had a 71' series 1 240z. Loved that car! Had to sell it couldn't afford to get it restored.

Chris, Some of us are old enough to be a little nostalgic for Datsuns/Nissans before Renault took over the company.
Who
Renault did not take over Nissan.

One of my all time favorite cars! Beautiful!
looks better than new newest gen
looks better than 90 percent of cars ever made as well

Awesome car! Congrats on hitting 500k. Well deserved.
Congrats on 500k subs man! I've only been subbed for a couple of weeks but I gonna say your content is amazing for the car enthusiast that I am!! 😊
My dream car, such a beautiful vehicle
Wow the owner is very proud of his car, and rightfully so!
The Japanese XK! Such a great sounding and looking car!
Oh and congrats on 500k!

What a beauty of a car!
I soooo miss mine! Traded for a 73 Nova SS back in 92. I missed it the day I traded it.
Girlfriend in Arkansas her father gave her a 260 Z. It was a joy to drive, but the fuel line was too close to the exhaust manifold and after 10 minutes, you would have serious vapor lock issues.
Absolutely
The year I was born 😊
Simply Wow...amazing car.
Crazy to think i almost bought a 280Z in high school for $1500... 🤔 Decided to get a 94 Accord for $2100 instead.
04:06 "but that's what you got a cellphone and watch for"
This car was bid to 25 G's and still did not meet his reserve
my dream car, this or a 280/260z, either is fine
thanx for sharing, you do a great job on the videos.
Absolutely!
Beautiful ! And original, too ?
Only having one mirror on the driver's side would drive me crazy haha
Gorgeous
what a beauty 🔥
240Z was a 4 spd manual, this one has 5? Voltage regulator is bad, voltmeter needle too high and jumping around. Pretty car.
No power steering, I had 2, both 280Z, a 4 speed 1976 and a 1977 3 speed automatic, I miss both, should have kept them 🥺
How high were you guys after that drive from the exhaust gasses coming in the car
Can you do a Pov of a 6'4 or 6'3 Chevrolet Impala? Would be awesome 🕶️
What a car
bro ur driving skills are amazing bro!! please give a video on how to drive a manual !!!! if you got time after a while
absolutely
i have a burnt sienna one and its just sitting in my yard and it needs new tires and a spark plugs
BMW straight six
Jaguar straight six
Nissan straight six
... Straight six is love, Straight six is life
Awesome !
Beauty, What would this little darling sell for?
This seems more like a sales pitch to sell the guys' cars then the typical enjoyable pov vid
Fewer and fewer old cars on the road. My first car was a 260 and I've been a Z guy since. I've owned a lot of s30's. H
Five speed in those days

I've owned a 1971 Z since 1973. This console doesn't appear to be a 1971. My steering wheel is slotted; this one is not. Would like to see the VIN.
What a used car salesman. It’s like being on a test drive hahaha
Saludos 🖖🏻
All stock with a 5spd???
Usa didn't got a 5 speed on the 240Z
Absolutely 😂
please drive a 300zx z31
L29? Does that even exist?
If it was blue I'd buy it. xD

Is your spider still alive?
just kinda pulled it out of the building
nicee
No big deal and a dog if automatic trans . A beautiful car though
I envy you
❤❤❤☺☺🙏
I think you should “try” a little harder to sell your “flip” car and get a bigger profit
Rename this video “men talking over the engine noise”. Can’t even hear anything except for like 20 seconds.
"The original L29"... The guy clearly knows nothing about that engine lmao 😂🤣
it really trying to copy 400Z's looks
boring af
