No Name Bar by Isaac Hayes from Shaft (Music From The Soundtrack)

- Shaft - Music from the Soundtrack, composed and performed by Isaac Hayes. Of the many wonderful blaxpoitation soundtracks to emerge during the early '70s, Shaft certainly deserves mention as not only one of the most lasting but also one of the most successful. Isaac Hayes was undoubtedly one of the era's most accomplished soul artists, and with 'Theme from Shaft,' he delivered an anthem just as ambitious and revered as the film itself, a song that has only grown more treasured over the years, after having been an enormously popular hit at the time of its release. Shaft still remains a powerful record; one of Hayes' pinnacle moments for sure.

huge horn riffs, thick organ, brassy sax: this is the sound of the 70s.
When music was great.
Brings back some really great memories just before my life spiraled out of control but through all the pain and darkness, the music never died. Hallelujah!
@Suleiman Ali, "May the Lords of Kobol bless you!" along with the Sun God & however many other deities people hearken to. This being a year ago, I sure hope & pray that you have conquered & prevailed over your travails, & long may this music stir your soul & keep you Moving On Up! 🫡🥳📿
I remember asking my band teacher back in 5th grade if we could play this song!!!😁
What did he say?
@@jeffg2226 He said no, it would be impossible for a grade school band to play a groove like that!
@@ericrobinson3995 I can dig it.
Isaac Hayes, Henry Mancini and Burt Bacharach are eternal , especially when it comes to our pleasure of listening to superb soundtracks and songs of their own that were not composed for the screen. In other words, listening to their music is actually something that makes our lives worth living.
Don’t forget Mayfield, James Brown, Ennio Morricone, Roy Ayers, and Willie Hutch.
One of the most sample artist in Hip Hop History. "The Magnificent" Isaac Hayes
🎵🎶🎹🎼🎤🎤🎤
This composition is stellar!! The saxophone solo is one of greatest I've ever heard. Isaac Hayes was a first order musical genius!! Full stop!! ❤❤
When people ask what makes the album so good besides the Oscar-winning theme song, this and "Cafe Regio's" are where I steer them...
No fucking doubt!!!
I couldn't steer anybody in any one direction as the whole double album is genuis level from varied track to track. But on your point & mine- next time steer those ears towards "Eli's Love Theme" with the lead killer viberphonist - Black Moses himself. Ike went down the street of pretty Mancini melodies & took things to late night silk bed sheets time.
"Soulsville" is one of my favorites. ua-cam.com/video/woYlIAjv5OQ/v-deo.html
Yes indeed!!!
I so agree, and another instrumental song I love is Bumpy's Lament
Absolute genius!
Monumental tenor sax solo !!!! Remarcable !!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
The album is a MASTERPIECE...!
This is so smooth..The Shaft soundtrack is the best of all time. Funk, jazz @ gospel..Tupac also used this sample on Soulja's story..

There's not a BAD tune on this entire albumn set. But this tune is and always will be my favorite number. That sax solo in the end is just classic. I wish I knew who played that!
The credits on the liner notes say "The Memphis Horns". There are five sax players. Andrew Love is listed as lead Tenor with Ed Logan second Tenor. Floyd Newman, James Mitchell and Calvin Caples all play Baritone.
@@thequietrevolution7390 My compliments to all 5!
Ike himself played it. He plays like 8 different instruments an read no music. Both him n James Brown cud not read music. Astonishing

Sums up the 70s music scene, bar none. Performed this and the crowd thanked me on sax solo. Hi Light of my life.

"No NAME"
This is the greatest music Isaac Hayes ever wrote (being speeded up in this clip grinds my nerves to powder (it originally is 6:20), but the joyous uplifting roadsong that 1st captivated me when I was 10 that year (on a strangely "scrambled" 8-track that went 1-4-2-3, which broke up "Do Your Thing" like a twig!) remains its pedal-to-the-medal glorious. It may do a wee bit atmospherically better on a night run, such as my cousins/uncles lit up the back roads & good old US 360 in the Northern Neck with it, but I have loved its drum & organ rich complexity - especially when the sax comes in after the beautiful moody organ solo! - these 51½ years wherever it's playing! 🥳🌞🌟🥂 & get thee hence to Cafe Regio's, a bare 2nd to this here Bar - man we just loved them tunes, damn we could wish they'd been & were real! Salut!!! 🫡🫡🫡
4:15 - 4:27 sounds like a truck with diesel fuel idling. This is when music was music........RIP Isaac Hayes.

Ikebe Shakedown brought me here. Their cover does this song justice.
