    What are you recommendations for Spanish picture books that I need to add to my library? We can't buy Spanish books locally, but I can always add them to my list for the next time we're able to get some supplies brought to us from the USA! :)

    I have not heard of a lot of these! Love this! My husbands side of the family speaks Spanish and while we wanted our children to be bilingual, time has just slipped by! They know a little but not much.

      I know, it's not easy at all to figure out a way to balance exposure to two languages! My husband's family all speaks Spanish when they are together, so that definitely helps motivate me, in that I don't want my boys to feel left out when the family gets together. :)

    107 views is great, and your voice is super calming and beautiful! My favorite book was the daddy book!! I love that you're raising your family as bilingual. We keep trying, but because neither of us speak another language it makes it a bit difficult to stick to.

      Oh, wow! It's hard already even with one parent who is bilingual in our family...but it's such a good skill and I feel like it's so much easier for kids to learn when they are young, as compared to how tough it is for our old brains to learn a new language! haha!

    That's great that Cyrus is able to learn more than one language as he grows up! I think that being bi-lingual or multi-lingual will continue to be a very important skill for people to have for the future!

    It's great for kids to speak dual languages. My kids aunt is from a primarily Spanish speaking country, and she's been teaching them to speak Spanish😊

    Hairs / Pelitos by Sandra Cisneros is a good book I enjoyed growing up. I’ve had my eye on Lotería! We’re obsessed! Our wedding had a few lotería themes! LOL Niño looks so cute! We’re hooked. Thank you SO much for this. We loved it. 😍 You speak Spanish VERY well by the way! Where do you find most of your books?

      Where we live, Spanish books aren't sold locally, and online shopping doesn't work too well...so our whole book collection is thanks to my sisters, aunts, and my husband's mom in the USA sending us care packages or bringing books over in their suitcase when they have come to visit. When I hear about a good book from the internet, I add it to my list of requests for next time someone wants to get us some books. We were supposed to be back in the USA this summer and I had big book-shopping plans but...pandemic. Niño is still a favorite, the other day I sat down and read it 5 times in a row with my toddler (because we always have to read the favorite books multiple times!), and it's a favorite for my husband as well, because he loves the folk tales like "la llorona" that are referenced in the story.

      @@SevenInAll Aww I'm sorry to hear that, I hope your family is doing well during such uncertain times. I am loving the fact that y'all read the same story a couple of times at once! That is too cute! I remember reading with my mother so I know your children will always cherish those moments for sure! 💚💛💜

    Thanks for sharing. I definitely need Las Abuelas de Liliana, we don't live close to family so my son hasn't realized the different on each side of the family. I read Susie Jaramillo Canticos and Lil Libros books to my toddler. His current favorites are Sol Solectio (we read it everyday at least 3 times a day) and Loteria. For my daughter I use Barron's Hide and Speak Spanish with flaps and Usborne First Thousand Words its similar to an I Spy book.

      Thanks so much for sharing! In the year since this video, I've decided to dive deeper into really using books as a strong tool in raising bilingual little ones, and I'm now just beginning to do literature-based preschool lessons in Spanish. An adventure lies ahead! :) I publish the lessons I make on the shop on our website, here: www.wheredyoulearnthat.com/shop/p/puramente-preescolar

    Amazing books with bright illustrations. It's so good starting to learn a new language from early age. My son started to speak very late, he was 2 y.o. but still said only Mom and Dad in my language and I started speaking English to him because most common English words are short one sylable words. In Russian words are much longer and it worked. He spoke simple sentenses. Then he understood that people around us don't speak English and switched to Russian.

    • @SevenInAll
      @SevenInAll  4 роки тому +1

      We have faced very much the same situation--Cyrus has started speaking a bit slowly, and we've realized that many English words are much easier for him to say than the longer Spanish words, i.e. "Fan" in English for a ceiling fan vs. "ventilador" in Spanish. But we are realizing that he can understand and follow a lot of commands in Spanish and can understand most of what we're saying in either language, he just can't respond yet.

    • @ursamajor5000
      @ursamajor5000 4 роки тому +1

      @@SevenInAll I understand him, responding is much harder. I understand Spanish, but can't speak it 😀😉 Another interesting topic from you, there are lots of bilingual families now.

      @@ursamajor5000 Very similar to me, because I studied Spanish in college, and have heard Angel speaking it so often, I can understand almost everything, but I feel like I make so many grammar mistakes when I speak. I like speaking to my toddler in Spanish sometimes because if I make a mistake...he won't know! He's only two! hahaha!

    Thanks for the recommendations, we want to raise our kids with a good grasp of a second language. It will be hard since neither Joey or I are fluent in anything other than English, and we also don't know where we will be when we start have kids. If we are in China, they will probably learn Chinese, but if we move back to AZ, Spanish would be a good choice.
