Thanks for the information on the Red Duster at half mast, respect. I asked your friend Gintonics2 and she wasn`t aware of reason for the half mast. Show the school kids your great videos, they will then know who the shipping companies are that don`t care too much for our environment with their poorly maintained smokey ships.
let's hope the school kids are also shown the 60 million cars fuming out noxious gases everyday! this ship carries thousands of tonnes of cargo a year and just a few puffs of smoke were caught on Chris' video. You try carrying that much cargo in your car a year and we'll measure your emissions (even if it's electric..)
A bit about flag etiquette: UK merchant ships fly the maritime national Red Ensign at the stern. Only UK Warships are allowed to fly the Union Jack. Foreign ships should fly our maritime national flag, the Red Ensign, (not the union jack), when in UK ports - carried up high on a mast. Their own country's national flag will be carried at the stern Conversely, UK ships visiting foreign ports will fly that country's National maritime flag - usually their national flag, high up on a mast. Not sure if Sharpness Docks is a registered UK ship so to speak but no-one will quibble that they were marking respect for their people.
Why do they still that move into the lock, which caused the demolition of the Severn railway bridge, surely the engines are strong enough to stop them ramming the gates.
Thank you from British Colombia Canada.
Many thanks John, glad you enjoyed the film
Excellent video as always. | didn't know about the 150th anniversary. Very interesting.
Should be a good weekend at Sharpness. A rare opportunity to sail into the docks aboard the little Dunkirk veteran, QBII.
@@ChrisWitts Yes - I believe QBII once worked on the Thames.
@@ThamesShips Yes, from when she was built in 1936 to when she transferred to Dartmouth and Plymouth in the 1960s.
Brilliant! Will be down for 13/14
Hi Peter, I shall be commentating aboard QBII, so look out for me and say hi.

These videos really cheer me up Chris. Your style is brilliant and the narrative is good, so good. Keep up the exceptional work buddy.
Many thanks Aaron, always a pleasure to hear from you.

They show respect each time a dear colleague dies.

Hi Paul, are you referring to the ship turning to stem the tide? It's just the way it has to be.
Wow!, it always amazes me how in the UK in 2024, we need to import cement! can we not make it ourselves?.......
I think if we did there would be nothing left of us as an island, would dig ourselves into the sea!
We can, but it's cheaper to import it - it always comes down to money
